After planning his approach, Moon began to initiate it. First, he moved stealthily around the massive crater’s perimeter, placing explosive runes at various points along the walls. Each inscription was positioned to create converging pressure waves that would focus their destructive force directly on the center where the turtle was currently resting.

The turtle remained completely motionless during this process, unaware or utterly uncaring about Moon’s preparations in his crater.

With the runes in position, Moon began his conjuring his earth spell. Stone and soil responded to his will, slowly rising from the crater’s edges to form walls that would seal the crater into a closed chamber. The turtle showed no reaction as shadows gradually swallowed its massive body, the barrier slowly closing until only a small opening remained at the top.

After setting it up, Moon began to channel an enormous amounts of mana into an [Ignite] spell that formed at the top of his staff.

The temperature continued to rise as the fire grew stronger, the color shifting, containing streaks of blue flame.

Just as [Ignite] continued to grow larger and compress, Moon simultaneously cast a water-based attack.

During his casting, the turtle remained unmoving, which surprised him.

“Well, it will move after it eats this one.” Moon smiled before unleashing his two attacks into the chamber.

BOOM!

The two spells reacted to each other’s presence in side the enclosed space, becoming a terrifying explosion that spread hot steam in the crater. The reaction immediately brought forth a tremendous pressure that had nowhere to escape except to compress inward toward the turtle’s position.

The explosive runes detonated simultaneously, their force amplified exponentially by the contained space and steam pressure. Multiple shock waves converged on the center as the entire system became a horrifying pressure weapon.

Moon fired his [Lightning Raiju] through the small opening as the cherry on the cake.

When the attacks concluded and the effects became visible, even Moon’s sealed opening had been completely blown way by the internal pressure. He used wind magic to clear the lingering steam, eager to assess the damage he had afflicted on the turtle.

What he saw shocked him.

The turtle’s shell showed cracks across its surface but it was mostly fine, and its visible blue skin appeared almost completely unharmed. The creature remained indifferent, whereas any other beast would have been enraged by such a massive attack on its home and self.

Moon frowned deeply, realizing the magnitude of what he faced. He had expended nearly 70% of his total mana reserves in that planned attack, yet the Supreme creature appeared virtually uninjured.

Their eyes met for a brief, intense moment. Moon’s heart skipped a beat, but rather than feeling fear, excitement coursed through him at the prospect of facing such a formidable opponent.

Without hesitation, Moon leaped onto Mirage’s back and immediately retreated from the battlefield. With only 30% of his mana reserves remaining, attempting to continue the fight would be pure foolishness. He decided to abort the battlefield for the time being, then return when he was at full strength to deal more damage.

Mirage accelerated to incredible speeds, covering hundreds of meters within seconds as they fled the Starfall Wastes.

Inside the damaged crater, the turtle slowly climbed to the surface before beginning pursuit. Although the attack hadn’t inflicted serious injury, the human had destroyed its peaceful resting place and managed to crack the impenetrable shell that no creature had ever scratched before.

More concerning was the turtle’s certainty that this troublesome human would return to cause further problems. The evil glint in those eyes as he retreated was anything but reassuring of peace.

In fact, for the past few months, many had tried to attack it, but it usually killed a few and ignored the rest. But this one…was different to say the least.

The turtle decided to eliminate this threat before it could return later to interrupt its important rest time again. Currently, maintaining tranquility was absolutely crucial for the turtle.

Atop Mirage’s back, Moon glanced over his shoulder at their pursuer. Despite his companion’s tremendous speed, they couldn’t completely outdistance the turtle. The Supreme creature remained visible in the distance, though it couldn’t quite close the gap between them.

“Excellent, truly excellent!” Moon exclaimed in delight, appreciating his partner’s incredible speed that could rival even a Supreme creature’s pursuit speed—though this particular turtle wasn’t exactly the fast-type.

Surprisingly, after pursuing them for only a few kilometers, the turtle abruptly gave up and began returning to its damaged crater. Moon’s eyebrows rose with interest—he had expected the Supreme creature to continue the chase much longer, but apparently that wasn’t part of its plan.

Moon gave Mirage a gentle pat and instructed him to halt their retreat. Moon’s eyes tracked the turtle’s movement as it made its way back.

“Follow it from a distance,” Moon directed, concerned that the creature might relocate to a hidden position or flee to an entirely different region. He couldn’t afford to lose track of his only confirmed Supreme-Rank target.

Mirage followed the turtle all the way back to its lair.

From several kilometers away, Moon watched as the turtle returned to its original crater and settled back into position without emerging again. The creature seemed content to resume whatever rest or meditation it had been engaged in before their initial confrontation.

Moon made the decision to establish a temporary camp at this safe distance, where they could monitor the turtle while allowing both his mana reserves and Mirage’s stamina to fully restore.

The next engagement would require peak performance from both of them, especially now that he understood the incredible durability they were facing. His initial strategy had proven the turtle’s defenses were even more formidable than anticipated, but it had also revealed that the creature could indeed be damaged with sufficient force and creativity.

Moon began planning possible modifications to his approach while they recovered.

The turtle’s apparent preference for remaining in its territory rather than pursuing them indefinitely was valuable information that could he could certainly leverage.
