SSS Ranked Reincarnation: Dark Dragon Legacy - Chapter 436 - 436: Snow in sand

A few days had gone by in this new world. Silva had no idea if the days were the same as the ones from where he came, but it didn’t matter.
On this day, he left everyone at the place they were staying and headed for the desert. He stood at the edge and looked. He paused for a few seconds and then walked in; he didn’t try to be cautious for the most part.
“Let’s see what my strength is like here,” he muttered. He was a demigod, and so far he was yet to actually use his strength, so he wanted to see what he scaled to.
A few steps in, he took out the Abyssal Blade. He allowed his energy to glow out of his body continuously, in order to make sure that any worm that was there would feel his presence.
“I haven’t had a good battle in a while, it’s time I stretch,” he muttered.
Silva was no ordinary demigod, no, he was one of a kind, the most unique demigod to ever exist. The power scaling that Aris used could not work on him, because his whole thing was to defy logic.
As he knocked on the doors of the worm, a worm similar to the one they had met burst out of the ground, and without wasting a single moment, it charged at him.
His eyes became slits as he watched it. A grin formed on his face; he kicked the ground and launched forward.
“The reason I stand here today is because I want to defy logic, to be the first to gain true freedom. It may not be now, it may not be today.
But with every slash I make, I carve a path toward the happiness I deserve, the freedom that I want. It started as a small dream born in a small town, and now, that dream faces the cosmos, that dream seeks to defy the odds.
So as I raise my blade in defiance, I’ll reach the highest level, and I’ll cut through the veil, destroy logic, and become free.
To be free is to be the strongest, because only then can you be the one that sits above it all,” Silva said to himself. He leaped into the air, arms stretched back, sword fully in his grip.
The worm opened its mouth to bite him. He slashed down, releasing an arc of black flames, large and massive. They slashed into the mouth of the worm and cut deep into it.
“Rooooooarrrr!” The worm let out a deafening roar, a cry of pain. It spun its head around and shot out its tongue. Silva spun midair and slashed through the tongue.
He landed on the ground and jetted forward, a smile plastered on his face.
“I was thinking I would have to use my clones to defeat you, guess that would be overkill,” he said, running through the side of the worm.
The worm, seeing that Silva wanted to be sneaky, decided to lunge deep into the ground, going down very fast until it was entirely inside.
It wanted to sneak attack, but this was Silva—there was no way that would work. As the worm burst out of the ground, he leaped up into the air, avoiding the mouth.
It attacked with its tongue, but Silva immediately blasted it with black flames. It destroyed the tongue, burning it badly.
He flipped and landed, yet to break a sweat or feel any trouble. He pointed at the worm.
“You’ll have to try harder than that to do anything,” he said.
He didn’t know if the worm could hear or not, but it seemed his words provoked it. It rushed forward, moving across the sand at an incredible pace.
Silva pulled his sword back; the blade flames grew in size.
“You are pretty tenacious. It’s a bad thing your enemy had to be me,” he said in a cold, detached tone as he lunged the blade forward. The blade flames moved like a spear and slammed into the worm headfirst.
It was knocked back by the attack, its body sent flying and its face burning.
“Screeeeeeech!”
Its sound of pure agony filled the air, but it wasn’t dead yet. It thrashed around for a few seconds and then finally stopped.
It dug itself underground immediately, and Silva could feel it moving quickly. It hadn’t given up despite all the attacks it had suffered.
It lunged out of the sand beneath Silva, ready to grab him and end it all. Silva smiled, pointed the sword downward, and another blast of flames knocked the worm down.
It slammed into the ground with a heavy BOOM.
He landed beside it, still refusing to land a finishing blow. Now, he wanted to see just how durable a baby worm was. He was making his study about this world and mostly the dangerous parts of it. If Snow and the rest were going to be safe, he needed to ensure that he was strong enough to protect them.
The worm saw that there was no winning this, so it turned to run away. The moment Silva noticed that it was trying to run rather than fight, he refused to allow it.
The worm dug into the ground, but he stomped hard, causing a shake and a collapse of the sand underneath. The worm was stuck for a moment, and he used that moment to leap into the air, pulling his sword back for an overhead slash.
It came down fast and landed, booooom, slash.
It cut through the worm, killing it as the flames engulfed the entire body.
[You have gained 2 divine energy] x10
Before Silva could celebrate his kill, he felt a familiar presence. He looked over to the edge of the desert and saw Snow coming toward him.
Panic filled his heart already, but then, the ground around her caved in and a massive worm, twice as big as the one he faced, came out of the ground, mouth open.
