Chapter 640 Alaric’s Military Movement Attracts Attention
Alaric stared at Bellator in surprise before quickly composing himself.
“Do you need anything for your advancement?” He asked.
Bellator hesitated for a moment before shaking his head. “I just need a quiet environment with no one to disturb me.”
Alaric nodded.
“Alright. I will send a hundred Champions to escort you out of the city. They will ensure your safety during your advancement.”
(Note: Champion = Elite Knight)
Bellator didn’t reject the help. As powerful as he was, he would be completely defenseless during the breakthrough phase. Even a Fatal-grade beast would be a threat to him during this time.
“You have my gratitude.”
Just as he was about to leave, Alaric called out to him.
“Hold on.”
Bellator looked at him, raising an eyebrow.
“I will watch the process and make sure that no one gets close to you,” Alaric said.
Bellator stared deeply at him and was silent for a few seconds before he nodded. “Alright.”
After receiving his approval, Alaric smiled in relief. He wanted to see the process of advancing to the Beyonder realm. He wondered what kind of phenomenon it would produce.
During Lucas’ advancement to the Unfettered realm, he triggered a big commotion that attracted the attention of the elves. Alaric was curious if the Beyonder realm would also trigger something similar.
Alaric summoned a hundred Champions, including Galanar and Caecus.
When Lucas heard that he was mobilizing the troops, he immediately stopped what he was doing and rushed to find Alaric.
“What are you doing?” The Duke asked with a frown.
He had just gotten engaged to the empress so numerous factions and members of the nobility are closely monitoring his actions.
Lucas was worried that his son would do something rash.
Looking at his father’s worried face, Alaric climbed onto his horse and replied with a laugh. “Relax, my lord. I will only bring them outside the city to get some fresh air.”
Lucas’s face twitched upon hearing this.
It was a lousy excuse, but he didn’t bother to inquire further when he noticed that Bellator would be joining them. He was aware that this guy had a significant background that was beyond his comprehension.
He sighed and let out a deep breath.
“Then you must be careful. Many people are watching you right now so you must exercise caution.” He reminded in a stern voice.
Alaric nodded. “I understand.”
“Please take care of Gwenaelle while I am away. I am supposed to play with her, but something urgent came up.”
Hearing this, Lucas waved his hand while shaking his head.
“You may go. I will take care of your sister.”
Alaric chuckled. He then squeezed his legs and urged his horse to move.
Galanar, Caecus, and Bellator followed closely behind him. The hundred-man cavalry also started moving, their armors clanking along with the beating of the horses’ hooves.
…
Alaric’s movement was noticed by the empress and the various factions in the capital. Some of them sent out their scouts to investigate his objective.
At this moment, inside the palace, the empress also heard Alaric’s military movement.
Although a hundred cavalrymen weren’t much, it was still a big deal when all of them were Champions.
“What is he intending to do by bringing all those Elite Knights with him?” Yskaela mumbled to herself when she received the report.
“Your Majesty, do you want me to send someone to inquire his intentions?” Bai Seol-hwa asked.
Yskaela thought for a moment before shaking her head. “There is no need for that. He will tell me if he wants me to know. However…”
Her eyes suddenly turned cold as she added.
“I’m sure there will be many who will try to investigate this. Send the Crimson Phoenix Knights Order to stop those people from interfering with his work.”
Bai Seol-hwa acknowledged the command with a nod. “Your servant obeys.”
After Bai Seol-hwa left, the empress walked towards the window and looked at the horizon with an absentminded expression.
“Just what are you up to, Alaric?”
…
Alaric was unaware that he had triggered numerous factions with his sudden military movement.
“There is an uninhibited forest outside the city. We can use that place for your advancement, Lord Bellator.” He spoke to the reticent man.
Bellator didn’t say a word and just nodded his head.
Soon, they headed to the deep woods, finding a quiet spot suitable for a breakthrough.
About two hours later, they arrived in a frozen stream beneath a waterfall. Other than a few small animals, there was no one in sight.
“What do you think of this place, Lord Bellator?” Alaric looked at the silent man.
Bellator looked around and calmly nodded. “Here is fine.”
“Good!” Alaric smiled faintly. He then sent a signal to Galanar and Caecus.
The two understood his intentions and immediately instructed the troops to spread out.
“Clear the area! Don’t let any creature get close!”
While the troops were clearing the area, Bellator got off his horse and went to find cover under a tree.
The snow was still falling and the temperature was freezing.
The mana here is incredibly thin, but I cannot be picky now. With my insights and the accumulation of my mana, there should be no problem with advancing to the Beyonder realm.
With these thoughts, Bellator sat cross-legged beneath the tree and closed his eyes to focus on circulating his mana.
Alaric was standing not far from him, observing the movements of mana in the surroundings.
Just then, he sensed a wild suction force around Bellator that attracted the mana to gather towards his location.
Normally, mana was invisible, but the huge influx of energy converging at this moment made it faintly discernible. The dense mana moved like waves of iridescent light, looking so magical and full of mystery.
Alaric even felt the urge to absorb the mana, but he restrained himself as it might disturb Bellator’s advancement. He also warned the warriors not to absorb the mana.
He thought that this was the end of it, but something unnatural suddenly happened.
