Chapter 129: Seed Of Tragedy (Part 5)
It had been three years since Raurau had become the Bhirully’s captive. Aged eighteen, he was still at the peak of the Spirit Stage.
As long as he could obtain a Spirit Pool, he could enter the Body Stage. However, he refrained from doing so, because, ’It’s not enough!’
Before him was a leather book which he had created using the skin of the Pelting Monkeys. In it was every single detail he had obtained until now. ’Nothing’s enough!’
Originally, Raurau used Mystic Mist Art to store any information he found out in an effort to hide it from the Bhirully and make plans to kill the other party.
However, even though the Bhirully couldn’t use Mystic Mist Art, it seemed capable of intuitively figuring out the contents of the Information Slips. Much worse, it gave its opinion on the matter, teaching Raurau ways to improve his methods and increase his chances of killing the Bhirully.
’That bastard doesn’t care about living or dying.’ He punched the leather book in frustration, ’All it seeks is the toughest fight of its life.’
Over a hundred leather books were scattered around him, most of which had been created by the Bhirully to aid Raurau.
At some point in time, Raurau switched to using the leather books to record his information, so that the Bhirully could add its own points to the mix.
“Here,” Raurau grunted as he created a Spirit Pool. The Bhirully promptly approached and dipped its arm into it and turned still for a few minutes, after which it commented, “It’s still trash.”
“If I were to bring this to my fight against an Empyrean Snapper, all I’ll become is an embarrassment of the Bhirully Race.” The Bhirully commented, “The Empyrean Snapper’s Subtle Terrain Domination can control all terrain. But if their skill reaches a high enough level, they could treat even air and the physical bodies of others as part of the terrain. Many Nature effects too will fall under this classification.”
“All I’ll be doing is giving them a sharper knife to cut me up better.” The Bhirully shook its head, retracted its arm, and walked away, “Keep working.”
Saying so, it jumped into the Red-Draft River to chase after some strong opponent it had chanced upon.
Even through the Bhirully had left the canyon, Raurau didn’t dare flee for three reasons. First, the journey from the Red-Draft River to the Dralh is too perilous for him, as the distance was beyond his means to traverse without dying a dog’s death.
Second, even if he were to somehow arrive at the Dralh Sea, Raurau was confident the Bhirully would just kidnap him once again. It had displayed the means to do so plenty of times.
Third, were the Bhirully’s servants. They were humans with tools in the place of hands and sported a horn in place of a nose. The nostrils were affixed within the horn, developed internally to resemble a harmonium.
Ravaged Tribe–Rambi!
Typically, when a Pranic Beast race hits their growth limit through regional adaptations and mutations, they will invade a Free Human Kingdom and kidnap a bunch of Free Humans.
The Free Humans would be tortured first, so that their Spirit Containers shatter and the mineral forming their Human Avatars get flushed out. Once fully flushed out, they will regress to the Spirit Stage.
At this point, the Pranic Beast will seep its influence into them and shape their Spirit Containers according to its will. The Free Human will eventually begin displaying the Pranic Beast’s characteristics and become subservient to its will.
They become slaves for the Pranic Beast. At this point, they are called Ravaged Tribesmen.
Originally, the Free Humans lived in their natural state, forging Human Avatars according to their free will. Then, with the interference of Pranic Beasts, Ravaged Tribesmen came into existence.
A Ravaged Tribesman retains and exhibits the characteristics of a Pranic Beast down to the genetic level. They were all stuck at the Body Stage, with horrible lifespans due to their genetic defects.
But over the generations, as the genes gradually improve and align better, their life expectancy increases, which also gets displayed in their progression through the Body Stage. And finally, when the Pranic Beast genetics perfectly mix with their Free Human genetics, the Ravaged Tribesman will enter the 2-Life Stage, at which point he becomes a Clansman.
This was the origin of the Cooter Clan and Mammoth Clan.
In the recent century, there came the Mystic Humans, who took the Free Human’s choice of freedom to the limit and completely rejected external influence.
Free Humans, Ravaged Tribesmen, Clansmen, and Mystic Humans formed the four variants of the Human race on Sumatra.
The Rambi Tribe was a Ravaged Tribe created by the Brully Race. Genetically, there wasn’t much of a difference between a Brully and a Bhirully. So, the tribe created by both was the same–the Rambi Tribe.
There were 20 Rambi Tribesmen in the canyon in total, who behaved as servants of the Bhirully and worked on assisting Raurau in his tasks.
“You…” Raurau stared at the Rambi Tribesman standing nearby, “Don’t you wish to return home?”
The Rambi Tribesman was a youth in his early twenties. Air gushed through the nostrils on his horn to form a melody, which is how he conversed as he eyed Raurau, “Home?”
“It doesn’t exist.” The Rambi Tribesman smiled wryly, “It got destroyed by a Pranic Beast invasion. And when we were fleeing, we got captured and brought here.”
“This is our fate now.” He uttered helplessly, “I have lost my right as a Free Human.”
“I…am no longer free.”
Tch!
No matter how many times he tried otherwise, the Rambi Tribesmen displayed zero inclination to seek freedom. They only existed to serve the Bhirully’s will, which was to ensure Raurau worked to create what it sought.
’Then, there’s only one choice.’ Raurau thought coldly and extended his hand, “I need your horn for an experiment.”
“Sure,” The Rambi Tribesman severed his horn immediately, asking once another horn regrew, after a good ten minutes, “Do you need more?”
“One is enough for now.” Raurau said casually, as if what he had asked for wasn’t anything worth concerning about, “I’ll ask more if there comes a need.”
’I need to escape from this place. Because,’ He eyed his surroundings and purposefully made mistakes in what he was refining, creating a faulty product, ’With the completed version, the Bhirully will be able to kill my Deity.’
Six months ago, he had already succeeded in creating a blueprint. He was desperately trying to hide his gains in an effort to learn more about the Bhirully, so that he could kill the other party. ’However, my only shot at killing it is exactly what it wants me to create.’
“I need a distraction, one strong enough to kill it.” He muttered under his breath, eyed the Rambi horn in his hands, and firmed his resolve, ’Based on the information collected here, there are hints of the Predator’s traces in the region.’
’If I use what I learnt back at the academy, it should be possible.’ His limbs trembled in tension, ’I can summon the Predator here!’
