Chapter 1068: Sparring Match or Proposal
Nathan and Alavenya stood in the middle of the field outside the city. There were no trees that Nathan could take advantage of in the area, just a plain flat field. This terrain alone would give Alavenya an upper hand, but a confident smile was still apparent on Nathan’s face.
Nathan smiled. “Have you prepared to lose?”
“I should be asking you that question.” Alavenya shook her head. “This is my domain, not yours.”
“In that case, let’s see how confident you are…” Nathan raised one finger. “How about a little bet?”
“Bet? Don’t we already have one? If I win, you will be mine. If you win, I will be yours.” Alavenya narrowed her eyes.
“Yes. And that’s exactly what I’m thinking. The bet is… If I win, you’ll be the first one to say ’I love you,’ and vice versa.”
“!!!” Alavenya widened her eyes in surprise. “Are you sure? You can’t take advantage of any trees now. Your specialty is taking advantage of terrain to overwhelm your enemy. In this field, you can’t do that.”
“Well, it might not necessarily be your victory either. There are other things I can use in a flat field like this.”
“If you are so confident, then I don’t mind the bet. Make sure you don’t run away when you lose.” Alavenya smirked.
“I should be the one to say those words to you.” Nathan chuckled. “How about this? I will add another rule. Since this is a bet between us, the only ones who will have a sparring match are the two of us here. No familiars. Of course, this also means I won’t be using my special ability.”
“!!!” Alavenya was taken aback by the condition. She thought that in terms of physical combat, she would be the winner. After all, she wasn’t the same person as her version when fighting him at the Frexia Academy.
The current her surpassed him physically. Xingtian had become her lifebound familiar, so there was no stopping her Dragon Martial Arts anymore. In addition, Nathan had trained her, especially in controlling her anger. Now that she was able to control her anger, she wouldn’t do anything rash anymore.
So, Alavenya thought Nathan would try to overwhelm her with the number of his familiars. It would then become nine versus six, which would erase his disadvantage.
“Are you sure? To think you would be digging your own grave… I don’t know what to say anymore.” Alavenya shook her head helplessly. “And this special ability…”
“Although I haven’t explicitly explained it to you, you have seen it multiple times.” Nathan formed a contract in his hand.
“Nathan and Alavenya Silveresta will now conduct a sparring match. No familiars are allowed to be summoned. Nathan is not allowed to use Soul Contract during the match. If Nathan loses, he will confess to Alavenya Silveresta and be hers. If Alavenya Silveresta loses, she will confess to Nathan and be his.”
“This is Soul Contract, an innate ability. Do you know what innate ability is?” Nathan asked.
“No.” Alavenya shook her head.
“To put it simply, it’s what the strongest summoner has. It’s thanks to his innate ability that he can have multiple lifebound contracts with his familiars. This is what allows me to use other elements, such as absolute ice elements. I will not use this Soul Contract during our fight. If I use it, it’ll be too unfair.”
Alavenya was a bit surprised that Nathan would explain all this to her. Then again, they would be a couple whoever won anyway, so it wouldn’t be a secret anymore.
“Still, the time element is already something I have permanently, so even with this restriction, I will still be using this element.”
Alavenya thought for a moment before saying, “This is not fair, but it looks like you have become a bit too arrogant since the last time we met. I’m going to beat you today to erase that arrogance of yours.”
“I’m looking forward to it… if you can defeat me, that is.” Nathan nodded, taunting her.
The old Alavenya would have lashed out at him, but the current her only smiled at that simple taunt. She calmly jumped back while cracking her fingers. “All right. Let’s do it.”
Nathan took a few steps back. A bullet formed on Nathan’s palm before shooting it into the air as the bullet gradually curved down. “We’ll begin the moment this bullet touches the ground.”
Alavenya nodded. Although Nathan could manipulate the bullet, he wasn’t someone who would manipulate such a thing, especially in a sparring match like this one. It would have left a bad taste in their mouths if Nathan had won by such a cheap trick.
That was why both of them could see the zero acceleration of the bullet as it descended to the ground.
Their energy surged out of their bodies. The moment the bullet dropped to the ground, Alavenya concentrated her ena into her legs, ready to close the gap between them in one leap.
On the other hand, Nathan jumped away to gain as much distance as possible.
“Overwhelming my enemy by sending bullets between trees—that might be my main fighting style, but there’s something else I can use on flat land.” Nathan snapped his fingers.
Ten palm-sized bullets formed out of thin air, circling on his back. This was Nathan’s Machine Gun Version. After three months, he had polished it further.
The moment Nathan waved his hand down, the bullets flew toward Alavenya in rapid succession. A magic circle appeared next to him as the bullet passed through the magic circle first.
By infusing the Acceleration magic into these bullets, their speed had basically tripled since the fight with Alan, who inspired him to create this technique.
“!!!” Alavenya was quite surprised by their speed. Yet, instead of blocking them, Alavenya actually took a few small steps, dodging every single bullet as though she was able to see them perfectly.
Then, Alavenya gathered her energy into her fist before punching forward. “Dragon Fist!”
The Dragon Fist had actually transformed even further. It generated powerful pressure that disintegrated everything in its path.
