“This is so cool.” Melissa touched the patterns on the wall and took a note to see if there was something they could research.
“Just don’t destroy anything. We don’t want to anger that alien.” Revon chuckled. Looking at these researchers enthusiastically taking notes of everything around them was funny.
Meanwhile, Evelyn only stood on one of the buildings, staring at the castle where Cthulhu had brought Nathan.
“Are you worried about him?” Bella sneaked up on her.
“…” Evelyn looked away even though she didn’t say anything. “I am not. Do you think he’s the one who can be taken advantage of? I’m more worried about you than him.”
“Ah…” Bella scratched the back of her head. “You’re talking about that…”
“Yeah.”
Bella smiled wryly. “A part of me has started to regain its desire to grow stronger. A part of me is feeling exhausted. Give me some time to sort my thoughts.”
Evelyn nodded. “Well, he’s the only person I have acknowledged to this point. You still remember our promise, right?”
“…” Bella looked down, feeling apologetic.
“We have promised to be together for the rest of our lives. If any of us get a partner, we will still be together. However, he has chosen to take on such a hard path.
“Right now, I’m feeling guilty.”
Bella smiled wryly. “I am a burden, huh?”
“No. You can always help around even if you don’t fight, but I’m worried that if we fail, you will probably be the only ones left behind. I can’t help but feel guilty for both of you.” Evelyn shook her head.
If they went to the alien world alone, Bella would probably be left behind. If they failed, all of them would probably perish together. And Bella wouldn’t know about it.
Nathan would probably feel bad because he couldn’t tell Bella that he couldn’t return. Bella would feel guilty for not accompanying him.
That was why Evelyn wondered whether her choice was correct or not.
“Give me some time…” Bella sighed.
Evelyn ultimately nodded her head.
…
Inside the tower, Nathan couldn’t help but drop his jaw to the ground. “What did you say?”
Cthulhu didn’t show any reaction to his shock. He simply repeated what he had said earlier.
“I know you are from the Blue Star. You transmigrate to this place. Your soul might have been absorbed and integrated with the remnants of the fragments of this world.”
“Do you mean I am also not real?” Nathan frowned.
“No. For some reason, your body has absorbed your soul. I don’t know what happens to the original soul of that body, but I know that for a soul to take possession of one’s body, the other soul has to perish.”
Nathan contemplated. Although the novels were filled with bullshit, the bullshit was pretty much correct when he implemented it in this world. In those novels, there were a lot of cases where two souls coexisted.
Nathan couldn’t help but ask, “Can’t two souls coexist in one body?”
“No.” Cthulhu shook his head. “It’s impossible for two souls to coexist. The reason is simple. Too many things will conflict in that body, which will cause you to die. For example, your karma will be different, the weight of your soul, your memories, and so on.
“Once all of them become entangled at the same time, the collision will kill your body.
“Hence, the only reason you’re able to possess that body is either because the original soul is giving you that body or because you devour the original soul.”
Nathan was speechless. Devour the original soul? He didn’t think he had done such a thing. The first thing he realized when coming to this world was that he had summoned Fenrir. There was no such thing as swallowing another soul.
At the same time, he hadn’t seen the original soul, meaning the original soul had perished.
The problem was whether he devoured the other soul or the latter willingly perished.
Nathan looked down, falling into deep thought. There was one thing he wanted to take into consideration: the two dreams.
He had never experienced such a thing. Then again, his time element could allow him to travel back in time, so what if the Soul Contract removed his memory?
What would Nathan do to remove his memory of the future?
Because he didn’t know how his soul ended up taking over this body, there were simply too many possibilities that could happen.
Nathan asked, “In that case, there’s something I want to ask. I had two weird dreams. The first one is showing me one thousand elite class aliens. The second one is the aftermath of a few skirmishes, showing the deaths of the important people around me.
“Is it just a normal dream, or…” Nathan didn’t continue, but he was worried it was a prophetic dream.
Cthulhu shook his head. “Unfortunately, I don’t have the answer. However, there is one thing I’m curious about. One thousand elite class aliens… I have read the reports about the classifications of my race from Roggoth.
“Maybe… I know the identity of those one thousand aliens.”
“!!!” Nathan raised his eyebrows. “Who?”
“The Old Ones. No, the spawns of the Old Ones.”
“Ah!” Nathan gasped. The number of Old Ones was certainly not small. Their spawns were also powerful, so it wouldn’t be weird if they were the identities of those one thousand aliens.
Cthulhu also didn’t like this possibility, but it was probably what actually happened. “From the looks of it, that dream is not a simple dream. It might show a possibility of the future.
“The Old Ones are still fighting against the singularity. But what if the singularity manages to defeat them?”
The answer was obvious. Their spawns invaded this world.
“If that’s what truly happened, what am I supposed to do?” Nathan asked, wondering if Cthulhu had a plan to stop them. Even Nathan couldn’t think of a plan to repel one thousand elite class aliens even if he gathered all the world class summoners all around the world.
Cthulhu raised two fingers. “There are two ways to defeat them. The first one is to separate them and take them down a few at a time. The second one is to have multiple pseudo gods.”
“Do you think it’s possible to separate them?”
“The answer to that question lies in my sigil.”
“!!!”
