Chapter 1242: Fragment of Summoning Origin
Now that everything had been settled, Nathan could finally explain the reason he had visited them.
For the past few days, he had been reviewing their notes about almost everything important about this continent.
He had read a brief history of how the empire and the dynasty formed and what had happened in the past five hundred years.
Bella and Vivian had also recorded everything about the manuals, while Bella purchased any manuals they could find on the market. Of course, Nathan gave a bit of his funds to them.
“So, the manuals started to appear 400 years ago. Originally, the aliens were giving them the information on how to summon the people, right?” Nathan squinted his eyes.
“Indeed.” Bella nodded. “Of course, they didn’t know about the alien hiding on this continent. They only get to know about the summoning.
“In the past, they were similar to the summoners of our continent. They gather familiars and fight.
“It’s aligned with everything Lilith has told us so far.
“However, when they’re at their peak, the humans think they’re in control. As one would expect, the same thing happened on this continent. The humans begin to treat their familiars like slaves.
“But unlike us, who end up with a revolution, there is a summoner that changes the fate of the familiars. That summoner introduced the fragment of summoning, the first person to be able to change the form of the familiar.
“Thanks to him, the familiars became partners of their summoners. If the summoners treated them badly, the familiars could refuse to cooperate, resulting in their death during the battle.
“In one way or another, it’s a much more glorious fate than being a slave.
“This power quickly developed because of how strong it was. In just a year, the crystal weapon was introduced.
“Then, a few years later, the crystal sense debuted. After another decade, people learned about crystal armor.
“And ultimately, fifty years after it was discovered, the crystal fusion stage summoner became a thing.
“Thanks to this person, the people’s thoughts had shifted from showing their supremacy over familiars to humans.
“Because of the fragment of summoning, people are not showing off their familiars anymore. Instead, they show off their skills, their stage, and their own strength.
“That’s the history of this power,” explained Vivian.
“I see.” Nathan nodded in understanding. The process should be the same on Gratzel. But instead of discovering a technique that stemmed from humans, the people on Gratzel were more willing to learn from the familiars.
Thanks to that revolution, the relationship between a human and their familiar changed.
Nathan asked, “Since we already know the origin, do you know how to improve them?”
“Well, our knowledge is incomparable to that of the people on this continent. However, by learning them from history, it’s not that hard to figure out how to improve them.” Melissa waved her hand before taking out two books. “This book is the original copy, while the other one is my insight.”
Nathan took a look at the two books. The original copy sounded rough and was hard to comprehend. Meanwhile, Melissa’s version was much easier to understand. And if he understood it correctly, the power increased by thirty percent.
Even though it was just a low-level manual, it was still impressive to increase the efficiency by thirty percent.
“This is amazing. So, it’s not a hard thing to do?” Nathan asked for confirmation.
“My research area is similar, but I think there are still at least four people who are better than me in this kind of research. We’re not counting the many professors or researchers who might not be better than me but still have the ability to do it.”
“Your ego is so high that you always compare yourself to them.” Vivian rolled her eyes.
“A slut who is lusting after her disciple has no right to say anything to me.”
“What? You don’t have the right to say that after taking in and expelling 43 disciples.”
Both of them glared at each other. Looking at them somehow reminded him of his familiars. They always bickered with each other, but they were still looking out for each other.
“Alright, alright. I understand.” Nathan waved down before asking, “How long do you think they will take to improve even the most basic one?”
“If we have a few manuals as reference, it will only take a few weeks at most. If we’re talking about high-level manuals, it will take a lot longer… Maybe a few years?
“However, if you’re thinking about introducing those books right away, we will be able to see the improvement of our summoners in a few months.
“If it were me, I would be using the magic tower to publicize the manuals and create a library in my own territory. This way, people will know about the manuals and flock into my territory.
“Of course, this also means there’s a chance a bad guy will be among them. But with such a library, your name will go down in history.”
Vivian shook her head. “Since you rarely go home, it’s better to lend it to the magic tower and let them handle everything, including its protection. Still, some manuals will be stolen, so you have to keep that in mind.
“On the other hand, it will be right to keep some manuals to yourself. All the summoners who want to join you have the chance to browse these books, which might become an opportunity to create a big and powerful family.”
Nathan thought for a moment before muttering, “If only we were in Mae’s world… we could just copy the book in a few minutes.”
“What did you say?” Melissa and Vivian widened their eyes. As scholars, they had copied books, but it had to be done by hand. They knew how arduous it was to copy a single book. Sometimes, they even hired people to do it for them.
And Nathan said there was a device that could copy a book in a few minutes?
If this were the case, people would have books. And if they could copy some basic manuals for the entire continent, the level of the summoners of the continent would increase drastically.
This was Nathan’s battle plan to counter the alien invasion, especially those massive alien armies with so many elite class aliens.
