SUPREME ARCH-MAGUS - Chapter 1000: The True Game of the White Family!

Chapter 1000: The True Game of the White Family!
White Family Hall…
A large number of elders, uncles, cousins, and direct family members of the prestigious White Clan sat in their respective seats, all murmuring, arguing, or loudly voicing their outrage.
Their white-and-gold robes fluttered slightly from their exaggerated gestures, and their expressions ranged from disbelief to fury.
The center of attention was not the person who had caused the uproar, but the now-vacant seat beside Lily White, the most favored daughter of the clan and the intended fiancée of the supposed offender—Phillip Salt.
“How dare that Salt brat insult our family in such a disgraceful way!” barked Elder Vyon, a thick-bearded man with a wine-red scar across his cheek. “He didn’t just approach another woman—he made a public love offering in front of the entire Alchemy City!”
“Shameless,” spat Elder Yun. “He brewed a Pill of Possession? That pill is only concocted when a cultivator wishes to imprint their soul connection on someone in public. It’s practically a spiritual proposal!”
“That’s not just disgraceful,” another aunt snapped, “it’s betrayal. He humiliated Lily in front of thousands!”
“Indeed!” said another cousin. “What’s more, this Salt Family has little to offer us in return. Their glory is old and fading. Their so-called alchemy legacy is just reputation without fortune. What do we truly gain by holding onto them?”
The room broke into murmurs again. A few younger members were even whispering alternate betrothal proposals, hoping the family would consider shifting Lily’s match to a more resourceful clan.
But in the far corner of the chamber, untouched by the anger and concern, Lily White sat in complete calmness. Her chin rested gently on her fingers, and a strange little smile played at the edge of her lips—one that didn’t go unnoticed by the person she least wished to deceive.
Her mother, Lady Hualing White—the matriarch of the White Clan—had remained silent throughout. She sat on the throne-like chair that overlooked all others, her fingers elegantly cradling a jade teacup as she occasionally sipped.
She watched her daughter quietly, her narrowed eyes flashing with hidden depth.
Then, after another five minutes of chaos, Lady Hualing raised her hand.
“Enough.”
The command was simple, soft even, but it silenced the room like thunder. Not a single word was spoken afterward.
“All of you, leave. I wish to speak to Lily alone.”
Though some elders twitched as if they wanted to object, none dared to question the matriarch’s authority. One by one, the room emptied, until only the two women remained.
For a moment, the room was quiet.
Then, Hualing spoke.
“Are you enjoying this mess, Lily?”
Lily chuckled softly, standing up and walking toward the throne, her hands gracefully folded behind her back.
“A little,” she admitted. “I never expected Phillip had the guts to do it.”
Her mother’s eyes narrowed. “Do you mean… the challenge?”
Lily turned, her long snow-white hair swaying behind her. “Of course. It was just a joke, a harmless provocation. I said, ’If you can make Manuka Lan submit to you, I’ll call you a true man.’ He took it too seriously. Or maybe… just seriously enough.”
Hualing stared at her daughter, her voice sharp. “You never told him the truth about the Sword-in-Heart, did you?”
Lily shook her head.
“No. All he knows is that it’s a unique manual possessed by the Lan family daughter. He doesn’t know that it’s not a scroll or a technique—but a spiritual treasure that manifests only when Manuka Lan sacrifices her life willingly and offers the treasure Pearl sword in her heart.”
Lady Hualing leaned forward, voice lowered. “And yet he made her accept his pill. In front of everyone.”
Lily’s eyes sparkled. “Exactly. Isn’t he incredible? For over a decade, we’ve sent warriors, lovers, poets, assassins, and even illusionists to charm her, manipulate her, impress her. Nothing worked. She burned letters, broke alliances, and refused every suitor—even nobles and princes. And now, this shy, ignored, second son of the Salt family… wins her heart with a single pill.”
Hualing placed her teacup down gently. “So, do you think he can truly make her surrender the Sword-in-Heart?”
Lily walked to the window, gazing out toward the distant mountains. “He might. Manuka looked genuinely moved. That means the process has started. Once her heart binds completely, the treasure will awaken in her soul. All he needs to do… is push her to love him fully. And then… the Sword will surface.”
Her mother’s voice was firm. “Then we must act now. Phillip may have won her affection, but he is not ours. We must make sure he dances to our rhythm.”
Lily smiled. “Don’t worry, Mother. I’ve known Phillip for years. He was always a quiet one… and a little bit smitten with me. He may have grown stronger… but his heart is still the same.”
Hualing raised an eyebrow. “You think you can seduce him?”
“I don’t think,” Lily said, turning with a sultry smirk. “I know. If I show him the right mix of affection, loyalty, and maybe… a bit of skin, he’ll come crawling back. Men like him don’t understand women like Manuka. She’s a sword. I’m a silk whip.”
Her mother gave a rare laugh. “So what is your plan, dear viper of mine?”
“I’ll tell him I’m hurt,” Lily said dramatically. “Wounded by his betrayal… but still in love. I’ll say I understand his obsession with Manuka was a challenge, a moment of recklessness. I’ll cry a little. Make him promise to keep me in his heart, even as he goes to win Manuka completely.”
“And once she falls for him?” Hualing whispered.
“We strike,” Lily said. “We push him to request the Sword-in-Heart. We keep the details vague. We say it’s an ancient contract… that her pearl sword will pass to him. That it’s a ritual meant to benefit us.”
“Will he kill her?” Hualing asked.
Lily frowned. “I don’t know. I hope not. If he falls for her deeply… he might try to reject it. But if I keep my claws in him… remind him of our long relation, our bond, our engagement… I can twist his loyalty.”
“Seduction, guilt, obligation,” Hualing said. “A perfect poison.”
Lily bowed slightly. “From your teachings, Mother.”
There was a long pause.
Then the matriarch stood, walking over to her daughter. She placed a hand gently on Lily’s cheek.
“If we get the Sword-in-Heart, we rise above every clan in the nation. Even the Frosts will have to kneel. But if you fail…”
“I won’t fail,” Lily said, her voice cold now. “Phillip may be bolder now… but he still looks at me with awe. I’ll twist that awe into chains.”
Hualing’s eyes gleamed. “Very well. Begin immediately. I’ll prepare our inner council to support your emotional act. Cry, bleed, love—do whatever is needed. But bring me the Sword-in-Heart.”
Lily turned to leave, but paused at the door.
“Oh, and Mother…”
“Yes?”
“If Manuka Lan finds out what we’re doing… she’ll try to kill-me.”
Hualing smiled. “Then we must make sure she never learns… until her heart has already been handed over.”
But just then, the gates of White family slammed open by the fist of a Young-Man. Many were shocked to see Phillip entering brazenly.
In the game of greed, Kent has his own plans to pass the trail for Sea God Legacy!
