SUPREME ARCH-MAGUS - Chapter 1001: The Son-in-Law Who Shook the White Clan

Chapter 1001: The Son-in-Law Who Shook the White Clan
The recent public display of affection by Philip Salt towards Manuka Lan had thrown the White Clan into disarray.
The great White Clan Hall was bustling with discussion, elders pacing with furrowed brows, younger cousins whispering among themselves, and a steady stream of complaints flying through the air.
“We must cancel the marriage arrangement!”
“This is humiliation! Our future son-in-law is romancing another woman!”
“What a disgrace to the honor of the White Clan!”
“The Salt Clan is already falling behind. This is the time to cut ties before they drag us down further.”
Lily White sat in a corner, calmly sipping from her jade teacup, her lips curling into a subtle, knowing smile. Unlike the rage that rippled through her clan, her mind swirled with curiosity and intrigue. Never in her wildest dreams did she expect Philip to actually succeed in charming Manuka Lan.
She had only meant it as a passing jest, a casual challenge: “Make her fall for you if you’re so confident.” And yet, not only had Philip succeeded—he had done so in a grand, alchemic spectacle, watched by the whole city.
“Enough!” boomed the matriarch, her voice slicing through the din. The elders fell silent. Her sharp eyes scanned the room, pausing a beat longer on Lily. “Leave us. I want to speak to my daughter alone.”
The room cleared reluctantly, leaving only Lily and the matriarch.
“So,” the matriarch began, folding her hands in her lap, “he actually did it?”
Lily smirked. “He did. I challenged him in jest. And he turned it into reality. Not even the most charming or powerful men managed to get Manuka Lan to look at them. Philip? He made her adore him.”
“Then why are you smiling like a cat? Isn’t this a defeat?” the matriarch asked.
“Oh, mother,” Lily said, placing her teacup aside. “This isn’t defeat. This is the start. Don’t you see? This Philip might be a bigger weapon than we imagined.”
“You want to use him for the Sword in Heart?”
“Of course. He doesn’t know the full truth. I only told him it’s a cultivation manual. He has no idea Manuka Lan must sacrifice her life to offer it.”
The matriarch leaned in, voice low. “If he finds out… he may abandon everything.”
“Which is why,” Lily said, her eyes flashing, “I will seduce him fully. Make him love me, trust me. He thinks he’s winning. Let him. Then he will give us everything.”
The matriarch nodded slowly. “If we get the Sword in Heart, no one will be able to challenge us. Not even the Imperial Families.”
But suddenly, a thunderous sound came from the main gates.
BANG!
The great wooden doors burst open as Philip Salt stormed in, his boots echoing against the polished jade floor. He wore a casual robe, yet his posture exuded dominance. His right foot kicked the door panels wide as servants ran to the sides in panic.
“PHILIP?!” gasped one elder. “What insolence is this?!”
Philip ignored them entirely, walking down the center like a general on his own battlefield. He sat cross-legged on the main platform, directly opposite the patriarch’s seat.
The hall fell silent.
He looked around, calm yet piercing. “Where is Lily White? I have business.”
Elders fumbled with words. Servants gasped. Even the younger generation looked at Philip with wide eyes.
“He walks in like he owns the place!”
“Has he gone mad?!”
“Is this the same timid Philip Salt?”
“If he marries into the clan, we’ll lose all control.”
Lily emerged from the inner chamber, eyebrows raised, amused at the theatrical entrance.
“You couldn’t have sent a message first?”
“What’s the fun in that?” he said, his grin unshaken.
“Leave us,” she ordered. The room slowly emptied again.
Once alone, Philip leaned forward. “So, my dear, will you admit defeat now? I did what you said. I made Manuka Lan fall for me. When will you fulfill your promise to serve me like a humble wife?”
She raised an eyebrow. “Love doesn’t equal submission. You haven’t even gotten the Sword in Heart manual yet. And you show up here, beating your chest like a conqueror?”
“Because I believe in tasting the reward before running the full race,” Philip said, his tone teasing but firm.
“What reward do you speak of?” she asked, feigning ignorance.
He smirked. “The Heavenly Sword. Let me hold it. Let me decide if it’s worth the risk of pushing Manuka into giving up the manual.”
She laughed, tossing her hair. “You want to hold the most sacred weapon of the White Clan, before even proving yourself?”
“I don’t trust your family. What if I give you the Sword in Heart, and your clan never gives me the Heavenly Sword?” he shot back.
Her laughter faded. “Are you threatening us, Philip?”
“No,” he said, his voice dropping to a growl. “I’m setting boundaries. You may think you can use me, play me like some pawn. But I can walk away from this game at any moment and live a good life with Manuka Lan.”
Lily stiffened. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Try me. I’m giving you one day. One day to decide if you will submit the Heavenly Sword into my hands. If not, I will personally burn the marriage contract between our clans.”
Her eyes flared. “You will regret this.”
“Maybe,” he said, rising from his seat, “but at least I won’t be a fool who let himself be manipulated.”
He turned on his heel and strode out of the hall, servants jumping out of his way.
Behind him, Lily gritted her teeth, fury boiling under her skin. She had underestimated Philip Salt. But the game wasn’t over yet.
Kent left the White clan while thinking about how to clear this trail. The time is limited as he need to attend the Golden Heir tournament and this sea god legacy trail has no near end.
“What is the key i am missing?” Kent muttered as he wondered whom he should defeat finally.
