- Chapter 807 807: Terra's Statue [2]

“They know we are here,” Nox repeated, his voice low and tense. “Most importantly… they know about Terra. And I mean they really know her.”
Eve’s eyes flashed as she immediately understood what he was trying to say. As Nox’s master, she was one of the few people who had learned about Terra early on, the forgotten Goddess believed to have vanished from history.
It was only recently that Nox had begun spreading beast taming openly, allowing people to learn about it. However, from the way he sounded, it felt as though the Imperin had known about Terra long before her existence became widespread again.
He then proceeded to explain everything he had heard during the meeting.
“So you are saying you heard all these things through her eyes?” Eve asked in amazement, clearly impressed by his ability.
Nox nodded once.
“Andre is not guessing. He is sure. And Jack…” his gaze drifted briefly, thoughtful. “Jack is pretending he is not involved, but he is too quiet. That family is hiding far too many things.”
“So what do you plan on doing now?” she asked.
“While I was there, I sensed a presence. My instincts tell me it is the statue. I have to check that first.”
For a moment, silence settled between them. The wind from the sea rolled through the streets, carrying the scent of salt and damp stone. From afar, the island looked peaceful at night, like a place meant for tourists and lazy walks.
Late that night, not many words were shared between the two.
Because Nox had earlier informed Eve that the ruler of the island was aware of their presence, she decided to keep watch over him.
Nox lay on the bed and activated Astral Control once again.
Far away, Serene’s body stiffened for half a heartbeat. Her eyes, which had been resting on a candle in her chamber, shifted unnaturally, as though a different soul had just taken control.
He inhaled slowly through her lungs, feeling the weight of expensive fabric and jewelry, the faint perfume, and the soft warmth of candlelight.
He hated being in this body, but it was necessary. Fortunately, he was not a pervert. Otherwise, he would have been distracted roaming around in it.
Feeling slightly irritated by the overwhelming feminine sensations, he stood smoothly from the chair.
No hesitation. No confusion. He was no longer learning her body. He had already forced that connection earlier.
Serene’s chamber was positioned high within the castle. From the window, the sea glimmered beyond the cliffs, dark waters reflecting moonlight.
He stepped out into the hallway.
Two guards immediately bowed slightly. “My lady.”
He nodded once, perfectly matching her usual minimal response.
He moved through the corridors without rushing, following the same presence he had sensed earlier.
The familiar pull was stronger at night, like something ancient breathing slowly beneath the stone.
At first, he assumed it would lead deeper into the castle. Instead, it pulled him toward the back, toward the sea.
He descended one staircase, then another, passing a hallway filled with carved murals depicting ancient battles. Humans stood over beasts, spears raised, faces painted in victory. The artwork was clean, but the intent behind it was disgusting.
He reached a passage with fewer guards. The torches here burned dimmer. The stone walls bore salt stains, as if the sea had been licking them for centuries.
At the end of the passage stood a heavy door reinforced with iron bands. Two guards blocked it, spears crossed.
“My lady,” one of them greeted cautiously, eyes flicking to her face as if gauging her mood.
He lifted Serene’s chin slightly, radiating the exact entitled irritation that made servants lower their heads.
“Move,” he said coldly, his tone arrogant, perfectly matching her usual demeanor.
The guards hesitated.
He stepped closer, letting a fraction of his aura leak out through her body.
It was not enough to expose him.
But it was enough to make them feel something deeply wrong.
Their throats tightened. Their hands trembled. Without another word, they pulled back their spears and unlocked the door.
The door groaned open as a blast of cold, wet sea air rushed in.
Without hesitation, he walked through.
He emerged onto an open platform at the back of the castle where a stone path curved toward the cliffside. Below, waves crashed violently against the rocks. Moonlight washed everything in silver.
And there it was.
A giant statue.
Not hidden in a sealed vault. Not buried underground.
It stood openly, facing the sea.
Terra.
Her massive form was carved from ancient stone that looked far older than the castle itself. Her expression was calm, eyes half closed, as if watching a world that had disappointed her too many times. One hand rested downward, palm open as though offering something. The other was raised slightly, a silent warning.
But what made his chest tighten was not her expression.
It was the chains.
Thick, heavy chains wrapped around her body, crossing her chest, binding her arms, and anchoring deep into the platform with massive iron spikes. They were not symbolic.
They were functional.
Vines had grown over them, yet the metal still gleamed faintly beneath, as though it was regularly maintained.
He stood still for several seconds.
Even through Serene’s body, he felt it.
The presence was far more powerful, similar to the statue he had found in the underwater city.
His fingers twitched.
If they had chained Terra like this, then they were not merely hiding her. They were suppressing her. Or preventing someone from taking her.
And that meant only one thing.
They knew someone was coming.
But who?
These chains had clearly been here for far longer than his lifetime. He did not dare think they were placed recently. They predated him, older even than some kingdoms.
There were too many unanswered questions, enough to make his head ache.
He shook the thoughts away. A cold smile briefly touched his lips, but it never reached his eyes.
He stepped closer, circling the statue, examining the anchors carefully. Near the base, he noticed carvings etched into the stone. Ancient symbols. Difficult to understand.
Staring up at the statue, he thought silently.
“How do I take this away from here without alerting anyone?”
