- Chapter 815 815: Call of the Demon Kingdom

The gazes of everyone present outside the inn were varied. The faces of the onlookers ranged from curiosity, confusion, and unease. Curiosity because they wanted to know what Nox had done to the lord of the island, Andre, and confusion because they did not even know who Nox was.
However, from the tidbits they heard through their interactions, it appeared that Nox was an enemy, but they also saw that he did not force Andre through the strange door that had popped out of the air, which meant it had been consensual.
However, that look on Nox’s face suggested that he was up to no good.
“Could it be he tricked Lord Andre?” one of the onlookers whispered.
Another spat and said in a loud voice, “That’s not possible. Andre is the strongest person on the entire human continent. Are you trying to say some kid showed up from nowhere and got rid of him?”
The voices of the onlookers grew louder, not knowing what to do. There was no person of high authority here, so all they could do was watch.
The only person recognised as royalty in the imperial group was Jack, but even he had yet to do anything. In fact, he spoke as if he knew this boy very well. If even he did not act, then who were they? All they could do was watch.
The good thing, however, was that Nox had not attacked anyone else or released an impressive aura, which was the reason most people were still present.
After a couple of minutes, Jack repeated the question he had asked before.
“Nox.”
“Umu,” Nox responded, the mischievous smile never leaving his face.
“You didn’t answer me. What did you do to him?”
Nox gave a polite nod before casually dusting his shoulders. Ash from the flaming dimension fell off in a soft puff.
“He’s gone for a while,” he said quietly. “Trust me, we won’t be hearing from Andre for a long time.”
Eve bit her lip, relief flooding her chest. She glanced at Jack, who still looked perplexed and shaken. The other onlookers remained frozen in place.
What did he mean by that, for a long time?
Jack took a cautious step toward Nox.
“You mean he’s dead? You killed him?”
There was a bit of surprise and excitement in Jack’s voice, which was strange considering that Andre was his father. At the same time, Nox understood that they were not on good terms, and just a few days ago Jack had almost been killed in the arena.
Nox shook his head slightly.
“Unfortunately, not killed. Not yet, anyway.” He clucked his tongue. “I just gave him a little vacation in a place I doubt exists in the human domain.”
Jack ran a hand through his hair, trying to imagine what Nox meant.
“He attacked you, so what? I don’t understand. You are speaking in riddles.”
“It’s complicated,” Nox said slowly. He adjusted his stance, glancing at Eve and Jack in turn. “I set a little trap. Andre won’t be bothering us anymore. With the help of my dimensional key, I can travel to different dimensional realms. Some are not even on this continent or world. Andre is currently locked away in one such place.”
He paused and added, “And unless he survives that fall and finds the exit, which I doubt he will easily be able to, we won’t hear from him for a long time.”
The reason Nox was this confident was because of two reasons.
The first was because the dimension was extremely high tier, perhaps one of the highest dimensions. That meant the monsters there were no joke.
Even with Andre’s strength, surviving fire type monsters and terrain that harsh would be extremely difficult, especially since the Imperians did not possess classes or abilities, only advanced human bodies with multiple alter egos.
Alter egos might help in fights, but they could not replace true skills or system based power.
As for the second reason, from his brief stay there, Nox could tell the dimension was unexplored and unmapped. He was very certain that no human, Valkyrie, or other race would want to stay there. In fact, even the Fire Dragon Kingdom in the dragon realm was not as hot as that place, making it nearly impossible for any exploration.
After saying this, Nox returned his attention back to Eve and Jack and said,
“Now that he’s out of the way for now, there shouldn’t be much stopping us from getting the statue and continuing with our goal.”
Even after Nox said this, there was no word from either of them. Jack simply stood there, fists clenched, head held low. Then slowly, droplets of tears started to fall.
Nox was taken aback, and before he could speak, Jack looked at him with teary eyes.
“Why risk it? I have not done anything for you to deserve all this.”
Nox realised what was happening and smiled.
“You have been a very good friend to me, Jack, and I’m not a piece of shit who would let you remain a prisoner to someone heartless enough to kill his own daughter.”
Jack dragged the back of his sleeve across his face roughly, as if annoyed at himself for letting it happen, but the tears kept coming anyway.
“You say it like it’s nothing,” Jack said, his voice hoarse. “Like sending him away was just another move on a board. Do you even know what that man did to my life?”
Nox didn’t interrupt him. He didn’t try to explain or justify himself this time. He simply listened, his earlier casual posture slowly straightening as his expression softened.
Jack laughed weakly, the sound bitter and broken.
“I grew up hearing his name spoken like a god. The great Andre. The protector of the Imperians. The strongest human alive. Do you know what it’s like living in someone’s shadow when that shadow hates what you are?”
He looked up at Nox, eyes red.
“Every time I failed, it was because I wasn’t like him. Every time I succeeded, it was never enough. And when I finally realised I didn’t want to be like him, he decided to erase me, and yet yet…”
He choked on his words, tears flowing freely from his eyes.
Nox’s gaze softened as he placed a hand on Jack’s shoulder.
“It’s fine. I didn’t do it just for you, but you’re part of the reason. Sooner or later, he would have been a big threat to beast tamers. It was only right I got rid of him this early.”
Nox paused, the smile returning to his face as he said,
“And now that he’s gone, we’ve got a statue to claim and classes to spread…”
Suddenly, even before Nox could finish his words, he felt a voice he had not heard in a long time call out to him.
“Master… master, can you hear me.”
