- Chapter 824 824: Nox vs the First Born [2]

Nox was not someone who liked waiting.
The moment the tension in the air peaked, his mana moved. Dark energy burst from his back and two large demonic wings spread open behind him. The wings were black with deep crimson lines moving across them like living marks.
This was one of his numerous ultimate ranked skills. [Demonic Wing]
Nox bent his knee slightly, then he pushed off the ground and shot into the air like a missile. The stone street beneath his feet cracked from the force. His dark wings beat once, and his body rose quickly through the cold air, climbing past the tall buildings and toward the top of the castle where the figure still stood waiting.
The higher he went, the heavier the pressure became.
The city below remained silent, but the faint sound of wind scraping across the towers and rooftops made the place feel even colder. Dim red lights glowed from windows and runes below, while the top of the castle stood in darker shadow. The figure did not move until Nox reached the same height and stopped in the air across from him.
Now Nox could see him clearly.
The First Born looked young, but there was nothing soft about him. His face was sharp, his eyes were dark and steady, and his long black hair moved slightly in the wind. Black armor covered his body, fitted closely without looking heavy. In his hand was a long scythe like weapon with a curved blade that gave off a faint dark gleam. The pressure around him was intense, enough to make the air feel thick.
The demon prince looked Nox over from head to toe before speaking.
“For someone who caused all that trouble below, you look very young and calm,” he said calmly. “However, for you to have reached all the way here, I will give you the benefit of the doubt.”
He rested the scythe over one shoulder, his posture relaxed, but his eyes stayed sharp.
“What is your name, human?” he asked.
Nox looked at him without expression.
He did not believe it was necessary. This demon prince was not worthy of knowing his name.
The silence stretched for a second.
Then the First Born’s face darkened.
“So that’s how it is,” he muttered.
Without hesitation, he moved.
His free hand rose and dark miasma gathered around it at once. The power was thick and foul, twisting through the air like black smoke. A second later, he unleashed it. The attack tore forward like a raging wave, filling the sky between them with violent darkness.
Nox moved immediately. His wings shifted and his body glided to the side with sharp control. The miasma missed him by a narrow margin and continued downward.
The result was immediate.
Boom.
Several rows of buildings below were erased. Black stone towers exploded apart, walls shattered, rooftops flew into the streets, and debris rained across the city. Dust and broken stone rose into the air while the red lights in the destroyed district flickered and died out one after another.
Emerald, still standing below, stared at the ruined section of the city with narrowed eyes.
“That thing would have erased half the floor if it landed wrong,” she muttered.
Meanwhile, Nox was already on the move. He raised his hand and a miniature sun formed above the demon prince. Then another. Then another.
The heat spread across the sky at once.
Several burning spheres came crashing down with terrifying speed. They tore through the air and slammed into the city around the First Born. Flames burst outward in every direction. Entire rooftops vanished. Towers cracked apart. Streets broke open. Fire spread through the city while the First Born flew through the air, swinging his scythe again and again to deflect the falling attacks.
Each clash shook the sky.
One miniature sun burst near him and swallowed an entire district in flames. Another slammed into a tower and turned the upper half into burning rubble. The city was no longer quiet. Explosions rang out, stone collapsed, and the heat from the flames spread even to the lower streets where Emerald stood watching.
Nox did not stop there. A sword formed in his hand, and he closed the distance at once.
The First Born met him head on.
Sword and scythe crashed together in the air with a sharp metallic blast. The impact sent a shockwave across the nearby towers and shattered several windows instantly. Nox pressed in with another slash, and the demon prince blocked with the shaft of his weapon before twisting and striking back. The curved blade nearly caught Nox’s side, but he turned his body and answered with a fast cut aimed at the neck.
They fought like they wanted each other dead.
Their movements were fast and direct. Every clash sent power spilling into the surroundings. Rooftops split under stray attacks. Walls caved in from the pressure. A tower near the castle cracked down the middle when both of them collided again and pushed off each other in opposite directions.
Emerald did not take her eyes off the fight.
Her arms were still crossed, but her posture had changed. Her breathing slowed slightly as she watched the exchange above. Even from the ground, she could feel how dangerous it was. The light from the burning city reflected in her eyes while broken stone and ash fell through the air around her.
“They’re tearing the whole place apart,” she said under her breath. “At this pace, they might forcefully wake the Emperor.”
Another clash rang out. However, this time Nox was faster. He slipped past the scythe, turned his wrist, and cut across the demon prince’s chest. Blood sprayed into the air.
The First Born’s eyes widened for the first time.
Before he could recover, Nox slammed a kick into him and sent him crashing down. The demon prince smashed through the top of a large building and tore through several floors before slamming into the street below. The impact shook the area and sent broken stone flying in every direction.
Nox folded his wings and dropped after him.
He came down from the sky like a falling weapon and slammed into the demon prince’s position with crushing force. The street burst apart. Cracks spread across the ground, and a ring of destruction tore through the nearby buildings.
For a second, all anyone could see was dust and burning light.
But all of a sudden, the surroundings suddenly shifted.
The ruined battlefield was gone. The heat, the broken city, the smoke, the sound of collapsing stone, all of it disappeared.
Nox found himself standing in a quiet garden.
The air was warm there. Sunlight fell gently across the grass. Flowers moved softly in the breeze. A stone path ran through the garden, and at the center stood a familiar white haired old woman.
Nox froze, his eyes widening slightly as he looked at her.
“Celine—”
