- Chapter 828 828: Demon Empress [1]

Emerald’s eyes flew open when she saw the Demon Emperor’s eyes snap open. A powerful gust of pressure rolled out from the emperor, knocking off all the items in the room.
“Fuck!” Emerald exclaimed, and without hesitation, she plunged her dagger into the emperor.
She acted on impulse, so she missed his heart completely. Realizing this, the succubus drew out the dagger and stabbed again, this time into the emperor’s heart, making him roar in pain.
The emperor’s roar shook the entire castle, so loud that all the stray demons around the castle and those outside heard it as well.
….
Across from Nox, the First Born staggered back, shock written all over his face, clearly not expecting Nox to break out of the illusion.
Before he could speak, a roar exploded through the air.
It was deep, violent, and filled with pressure. The entire 100th floor shook from it. Cracks spread across the black ground, broken pillars trembled, and even the thick demon fog in the distance churned wildly. The roar did not come from far away. It came from the heart of the palace, and the aura inside it was enough to make weaker demons freeze where they stood.
The First Born heard it and suddenly laughed.
Blood spilled from the corner of his mouth as he threw his head back. The ice spike Nox had created in the illusion was still jutting out from his body in reality, and black blood kept dripping from the wound, yet he still laughed like a madman. His face twisted, but his eyes were full of cruel excitement.
“My father is awake,” he said, breathing hard as he stared at Nox. “You are finished now. Do you understand that? Once the Demon Emperor moves, there is nothing left for you to do.”
His fingers dug into Nox’s arm with more force as dark energy surged around him.
“You think breaking my illusion changes anything?” the First Born asked with a bloody grin. “No. It only means you get to watch yourself die with clear eyes. I will hold you here myself. Even if I have to tear my own body apart, you will not escape this floor.”
Nox looked at him calmly.
Even with blood in his mouth and a spike through his body, the First Born was still dangerous. His level was high, his aura was unstable, and the grip around Nox’s arm still carried terrifying force. But Nox’s expression did not change. His cold eyes only narrowed slightly as he felt the pressure spreading from the palace depths.
Then several ice spikes formed above them.
The First Born’s expression changed.
Without warning, the spikes shot down like a storm. One pierced through his shoulder. Another tore into his thigh. The third struck through his side. Then more followed. They rained down from every angle, stabbing into his torso, his back, and even the ground around him. The impact forced him lower and lower as black blood sprayed out in bursts.
The First Born coughed hard and tightened his hold again, but the strength behind it was no longer the same.
Nox did not stop. His hand moved once more, and another set of ice spikes descended. This time, they struck with even greater force. The First Born’s knees bent. His breathing turned rough. One of his hands tried to support himself on the ground, while the other still clung to Nox like a dying beast refusing to let go.
Suddenly, at that moment, something changed.
The emperor’s aura, which had just awakened with enough pressure to shake the floor, began to fade.
It was slow at first, almost hidden, but both of them felt it. The violent pressure that had spread across the 100th floor weakened little by little. The rage in the roar disappeared. The dark energy rolling from the palace center thinned out like smoke blown apart by wind.
The First Born froze. His pupils shrank. The laughter on his face died at once, replaced by disbelief. He turned toward the palace, his mouth opening slightly as if he wanted to deny what he was feeling. But the truth was right there. The Demon Emperor’s aura was fading, and it was not the kind of fading caused by restraint.
It was the fading of a life ending.
Nox noticed it too.
He glanced around quickly, his eyes sweeping the battlefield. He did not see Emerald anywhere. For half a second, he said nothing. Then a small smile appeared on his face.
“Seems she got him,” Nox said.
The First Born snapped his head back toward him.
Nox’s smile widened slightly, though his eyes stayed cold. “In the end, it was a succubus who killed the Demon Emperor.”
“No,” the First Born muttered. “That is impossible.”
“It isn’t,” Nox replied. “You overestimated your father. You also underestimated the people around me. That was your mistake from the start.”
The First Born’s breathing became uneven. His grip finally weakened, and Nox pulled his arm free without effort. The power difference was already obvious. The First Born was heavily wounded, his aura collapsing, while Nox still stood straight with a calm posture.
Nox’s current body carried enough raw force that even these high level demons could no longer suppress him for long. At this range, the difference in condition made the result obvious.
Nox stepped forward and looked down at him.
“You and your father,” he said, voice calm, “would make a great addition to my army.”
The First Born’s expression twisted with fury. “You dare—”
Nox waved his hand, and an ice projectile shot forward.
It was a casual gesture, but the terrifying force behind it made the air crack. Energy gathered around his hand, then burst forward in one sharp attack that pierced straight through the First Born’s chest.
The demon’s body jerked violently. His eyes widened. Blood rushed from his mouth as the last strength in his limbs gave out.
With a loud thud, he dropped to his knees.
Black blood spread across the ground beneath him, pooling fast. His hands trembled once. Then they fell. The life in his eyes faded just as the last trace of the emperor’s aura disappeared from the floor.
The First Born was dead.
At the same time, footsteps echoed from the direction of the demon castle.
Nox turned.
Emerald slowly stepped out from the castle. Her breathing was steady, but blood stained part of her arm and the edge of her dress. In one hand, she held the Demon Emperor’s severed head by the hair.
She looked at Nox, then at the corpse of the First Born, and a teasing smile appeared on her face.
Without a word, she tossed the head.
It landed near Nox’s feet and rolled once before stopping. The dead emperor’s eyes were still open.
Nox looked down at it quietly. That man, even from the shadows, had caused him trouble again and again. He was the sole reason why the human continent had gone through so many changes in such a short amount of time.
And now he was just a severed head lying on the floor.
Emerald placed a hand on her waist and tilted her head. “So,” she asked, “what now?”
“Now,” Nox lifted his gaze to her and smiled, “we crown you the next Empress of the Demon Realm.”
