Chapter 118: Chapter 99: Magic Pattern Armor and the Knight Guard Vision_2
Thanks to the progress on his study panel, his knowledge now far surpasses that of a normal Level 3 Wizard Apprentice.
Even compared to an Official Wizard, Sunan is confident he won’t fall behind.
Most of the Wizard’s Scripture he acquired through trades contain only basic knowledge, with very few offering advanced insights.
However, there was one book that particularly piqued Sunan’s interest.
“Magic Pattern Armor”!
This is the name of the book.
The content can be broadly summarized as combining magical tattoos and demonized weapons to create a special Enchanted Rune that both Wizards (Apprentice) and Knights can use.
It’s well known that magical tattoos can only be used by Wizards (Apprentice).
After all, these require the infusion of Spiritual Power to activate.
Demonized weapons, on the other hand, can even be used by Knights.
Thus, the book’s author took a different approach, combining magical tattoos with demonized weapons to create an Enchanted Rune that can be activated with either Fighting Qi or Spiritual Power, greatly enhancing the user’s combat abilities.
In essence, Magic Pattern Armor is quite similar to Demon Pattern Core.
Both are based on magical tattoos and require “Magic Item Creation” as a prerequisite skill.
The difference is that Magic Pattern Armor, besides “Magic Item Creation”, also involves “Biological Transformation”, making it more challenging than Demon Pattern Core.
“This is of little use to Wizard Apprentices, much less than Demon Pattern Core, but it is extremely useful for those looking to establish their own forces.”
The power of Magic Pattern Armor is slightly higher than magical tattoos, yet far less than Demon Pattern Core, offering little to enhance a Wizard Apprentice’s combat abilities.
However, it has the advantage of being far less expensive than a Demon Pattern Core.
When used to arm Knights, it could rapidly build a powerful Knight army.
According to the book’s description, a basic Tier One Magic Pattern Armor can enhance a Junior Knight’s power to near Peak Knight level.
This level of enhancement is undoubtedly astonishing!
Sunan thinks it would be worthwhile to spend some time studying Magic Pattern Armor.
“Speaking of which, it’s time to build a personal Knight guard.”
In the past, whenever Sunan needed Knights, he would directly draw from the Flash City army.
Both he and Kei were used to this approach.
Including funding spending.
Currently, Flashing Territory is at a critical stage of expansion, with formidable foes outside, so the territory and base are indistinguishable.
The base can draw funds and materials from the territory, while the territory can freely obtain Black Rock Leopards, Stone Golems, Dragon Blood Fruits, and potions from the base.
But this cannot continue indefinitely.
For healthy development, sooner or later, the base and territory need to be separated, becoming economically independent and transitioning from a vague dependency to a mutually beneficial trading relationship.
This is the only way to achieve sustainable development.
By then, the base will no longer be able to randomly draw on the Flash City army, and it will need its own Knight guard.
“To build a Knight guard, manpower is needed first.”
“Should soldiers be drawn from the army?”
The idea had barely formed before Sunan rejected it outright.
Doing so would inevitably imprint the Knight guard with the mark of the Flash City army, making separation a mere joke.
“It’s best to train our own.”
Sunan thought about it and decided to select a batch of children from the territory’s civilians and farmers for training from a young age.
There’s no rush to form a Knight guard, so it can be done gradually.
What’s most important is to establish a comprehensive training system capable of continually supplying Knights to the base.
As for why not choose from noble offspring?
Firstly, most nobles have their own Knight traditions.
Noble children are taught martial skills by Knight elders within their family from a young age, negating the need for outsiders to intervene.
Secondly, Knight recruitment in the territory mainly selects from the offspring of vassal nobility, and Sunan didn’t want to compete with Flashing Territory for manpower.
He had Dragon Blood Fruits and various enhancement potions, rendering innate talent and aptitude less significant in trainees.
Even if the aptitude of children from civilians and farmers is lacking, potions and Magic Plants can compensate for it.
The key is cleanliness and loyalty!
“Magic Pattern Armor and a Knight guard, now there are two more goals.”
Sunan exhaled a long breath, realizing neither task could be accomplished in a short time and required thorough planning.
“Let’s settle the issue with the Hundred-armed Monster first.”
…
Time flew by, and more than twenty days passed in the blink of an eye.
Before the end of Autumn Twilight Month, Sunan successfully synthesized four Elite Stone Golems.
Now, he has ten Tier One Legend Knight-level combat forces.
“I’ve also manufactured ten High-level Rune Gemstones, totaling fifteen. This should be sufficient to deal with the Hundred-armed Monster.”
With everything ready, Sunan placed the golems into the cube and, along with Hidden Dragon, headed toward North City Forest.
Fortunately, during this period, the Hundred-armed Monster didn’t come out of the cave.
Only sporadic Underground Toad Monsters and Fierce Rat swarms emerged, and were quickly eradicated by stationed Knights.
As a result, there were no major casualties during this time, much to Kei’s relief.
Brad had been informed earlier that Sunan intended to enter the cave today, so he stayed outside waiting. Seeing Sunan arriving, he immediately approached.
“Your Excellency, as per your instructions, the troops near the cave and the forest perimeter have been withdrawn.”
“Good, you should leave quickly too.”
According to Sunan’s plan, if the fight against the Hundred-armed Monster doesn’t go well, he would have to retreat from the cave, and the Hundred-armed Monster might pursue him. If the troops remained, it could result in heavy casualties.
To be safe, it’s better to have the troops withdraw beforehand.
Once Brad left, Sunan cast himself with a Shield Skill, layered on a protective layer of Energy Particles, and activated an Extreme Protection Ring before entering the cave.
As for Hidden Dragon, it had already entered the cave ahead of time with its body in a phased state.
The cave still retained its earlier appearance.
Apart from the extinguished torches on the rock walls, there were no other noticeable changes.
The corpses of Fierce Rats and Underground Toad Monsters previously killed had vanished, likely having become feed for the Hundred-armed Monster.
Cautiously, Sunan advanced forward.
Hidden Dragon was a hundred meters ahead of him.
The cave passage was very limited in space, unable to accommodate Hidden Dragon’s massive body without phasing it, otherwise, it would be completely immobile.
Although it’s not suitable for combat, Hidden Dragon can still serve as a scout.
Along the way, not a single monster was encountered, and Sunan smoothly reached the previous basin.
Surprisingly, another group of kobolds was industriously mining in the basin.
Despite the previous kobold miners having been wiped out by Black Rock Leopards.
“Did that Hundred-armed Monster capture more from elsewhere?”
Sunan first thought it had been abducted from the underground world.
After all, the Hundred-armed Monster had never exited the cave, and capturing kobolds was only feasible from the underground world.
But that wasn’t a concern right now.
Sunan shook his head to clear away the stray thoughts and released over ten Black Rock Leopards from the cube, commanding them to attack the kobolds.
In an instant, the dim basin brimmed with agile predators.
The sudden ambush caught the kobolds totally unawares.
One by one, their companions fell prey to the sharp teeth and claws of the Black Rock Leopards.
Facing heavy losses, the kobolds soon succumbed to panic and terror, fleeing in all directions with high-pitched screams.
As expected, the disturbance in the basin quickly attracted the attention of the Hundred-armed Monster.
Accompanied by a roar of countless overlapping voices, the enormous body of the Hundred-armed Monster charged out from the depths of the basin’s entrance, immediately spotting the Black Rock Leopards attacking the kobolds.
Seeing the black leopards that had killed its slaves last time appear again, the Hundred-armed Monster was enraged and, without a word, brandished its weapons and attacked the Black Rock Leopards, swiftly eliminating them one by one.
Yet before it had time to celebrate, it was dumbfounded to find itself surrounded by a host of towering, steel-and-stone constructs.
