Synthetic Wizard - Chapter 129 - 105: Carolina

Chapter 129: Chapter 105: Carolina
After deciding to take action, Sunan and Rose hesitated no more and immediately sprang into motion.
The human-faced lion statue was extraordinarily heavy, and even Sunan, with his Knight Level strength, struggled to move it.
Fortunately, he had other ways.
Boom!
An Elite Stone Golem suddenly appeared from thin air, opening its arms to embrace the statue and then exerting tremendous force. In Rose’s surprised gaze, it lifted the statue and moved it aside.
“Is this a Stone Golem?”
Rose’s eyes were stunned.
Since when did Stone Golems have such terrifying strength?
Wasn’t this akin to a Legendary Knight?
However, now was not the time to question this. Rose suppressed the astonishment in her heart and pressed her hand onto the ground.
Instantly, the ground within ten meters rippled like water.
Before long, a crystal ball the size of a fist slowly emerged from beneath the earth.
Rose snatched up the crystal ball, inspected it carefully, and exclaimed with joy, “This is it.”
“Good, let’s get out of here quickly.”
In just this brief moment, the commotion in the Central Square had already caught the attention of the human-faced lions.
At this moment, human-faced lions from all directions were rushing towards them wildly.
Sunan ordered the Elite Stone Golem to stay and fend off the pursuers, while he and Rose fled rapidly.
The direction they chose was opposite to the city gate from which they had come.
After all, the city gate was then crowded with human-faced lions, rushing there now would be akin to walking into a trap.
They had to escape in another direction.
Anyway, the island city was surrounded by a lake, so escaping from any direction was the same.
“Intruders!”
“Catch them!”
More than a dozen human-faced lions charged towards them, brandishing curved blades with fierce expressions.
However, these ordinary human-faced lion warriors were no match for Sunan or Rose.
The two kept moving swiftly, merely waving a hand to unleash a torrent of lightning that instantly reduced over a dozen human-faced lions to charred corpses.
Opposing two Wizard Apprentices of Level 3, these human-faced lions with only near Knight Level strength were absolutely not their match, beaten down along the way without any ability to resist.
Sunan and Rose passed through the city center smoothly.
To avoid the obviously Human-faced Lion Nobility’s towering stone pillar, they deliberately took a detour around it.
But just at that moment, a flash of fire blazed ahead, accompanied by a vast expanse of flames. The intense heat almost curled one’s hair.
Rose instinctively wanted to halt her steps but suddenly heard Sunan’s steady voice from beside her.
“That’s an illusion technique; charge through it!”
Rose did not hesitate, activated her protective magic item, and braced herself to rush through.
As expected, just like Sunan predicted, the seemingly fierce flames felt like nothing upon contact.
Both crossed the fire unharmed.
Rose cast a surprised glance at Sunan.
“Human-faced lions don’t have the ability to manipulate flame-like magic spells; they can’t actually cast spells, only employ some illusory tricks.”
Sunan explained without looking back and then suddenly waved a hand, sending a lightning bolt crashing into an empty area.
Immediately, there was a scream, and a figure staggered out of the air—it was a human-faced lion.
He lay on the ground, charred black, motionless, silent.
Rose, just a step behind Sunan, realized something was amiss; the ring on her right index finger flashed lightly, and a layer of visibly gray light spread outwards from her center.
Where the gray light passed, one by one, human-faced lions appeared, their faces twisted in pain, kneeling on the ground, their curved blades clattering down.
Hiss!
Their skin split apart, not bleeding but sprouting long, thin gray thorns that gradually spread over their bodies, enveloping them completely.
All of a sudden, large masses of gray thorns scattered across the street.
Whoosh!
Yet, more human-faced lions popped out of the air, all holding curved blades, emitting low angered roars and charging towards the two.
These human-faced lions were different from those Sunan encountered before, more towering and robust, with strange patterns tattooed on their upper bodies, shimmering with eerie light in the faint glow.
Their curved blades were more refined, and all without exception wielded dual blades.
Evidently, these were elite warriors among the human-faced lions.
Facing the siege of elite human-faced lions, Sunan and Rose remained unfazed.
Two Elite Stone Golems emerged one after another, stepping heavily forward to meet the human-faced lions.
Rose took out a handful of seeds and tossed them ahead; as they hit the ground, vines rapidly sprouted, weaving into human figures.
Soon enough, the street was populated with dozens of humanoid entities entirely composed of green vines.
They swung their vine-formed robust arms, bellowing as they confronted the human-faced lions.
Soon, both sides were locked in combat.
The focus of Sunan and Rose wasn’t on these human-faced lions but rather on the rooftop of a nearby house.
Standing there was an unusual human-faced lion.
Unlike the others entrenched in battle, its upper body was that of a human woman, with distinctive features, slanted eyes, a captivating face, a snow-white collar wrapped around its neck, and deep blue hair enhancing its enchantment.
She wore black leather armor, with a chest area standing tall.
Frankly speaking, from the upper body alone, she was undoubtedly a beauty capable of igniting the fire in a man’s heart with just one glance.
