Chapter 163: Chapter 121: This Feeling Is Truly Nostalgic (2)
Clang!
Another slash struck the steel golem’s arm, leaving a notch on it. Lauren quickly retreated to dodge the incoming colossal steel fist.
“Damn it, this hulk is ridiculously tough!”
Since advancing to a Legendary Knight, Lauren had never encountered such a monstrous foe that seemed nearly impossible to handle.
The opponent’s body was harder than refined steel, and after withstanding so many of his attacks, it only had a few more notches; it was utterly absurd!
“How long is the Starfire Sect going to keep hiding?”
Lauren cursed quietly.
Suddenly, a faint swoosh of breaking wind came from behind him.
In an instant, a chill ran straight up his spine, making the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end.
He felt a strong, long-lost sense of a death threat!
Without hesitation, Lauren crouched and lunged forward, rolling awkwardly and barely dodging the sharp limb blade that swiped past from behind.
“Spider puppet!”
Once Lauren steadied himself and turned back, he saw that the attacker was a jet-black spider puppet.
But he quickly realized something was wrong.
He had observed those spider puppets; despite their powerful combat ability, at most, they only reached the level of a Peak Knight.
Yet this spider puppet in front of him felt extremely dangerous—both from that strike and its current presence!
Even more dangerous than that massive steel figure!
Before Lauren could figure it out, the spider puppet lunged at him again, its sharp limb blades gleaming coldly as they simultaneously slashed across from both sides with lightning speed!
There was barely any time to react. Lauren dodged the leg blade attacking from the right side and swung his sword to parry the one from the left.
Clang!
In the crisp sound of metal clashing, Lauren felt an overwhelming force coming from the blade, forcing his knees to buckle and sending him straight to the ground.
“How is that possible?!”
Lauren was terrified.
Even that massive steel figure from earlier didn’t have this terrifying strength!
This puppet clearly followed an agile route, with strength supposedly being its weak point!
Unfortunately, reality left him little time to think; the spider puppet quickly lifted its two limb blades again and slashed down furiously.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh!
In an instant, a torrential flurry of blades descended upon him!
After just two or three breaths, Lauren’s steel longsword shattered into several pieces with a crack.
The chaotic flurry of blades instantly tore apart his Fighting Qi shield, and intense pain swept through his body in a flash.
In the split second before his consciousness plunged into eternal darkness, only one thought lingered in Lauren’s mind.
Tier Two Legend!
That damn thing is a Tier Two Legendary level puppet!
As Lauren’s death unfolded, the guards soon fell into utter defeat.
Just then, a sigh suddenly echoed from afar.
Following it, a dark blue light flashed like lightning through the air, striking the dual-bladed spider that had killed Lauren, sending it flying several meters away, crashing into a tree, and rolling several more times on the ground before coming to a stop.
At the same time, numerous knights clad in armor and wearing Star Map Cloaks surged from all directions, charging toward the golem puppets.
“Sunan, please come out.”
Ovijou stepped out from the corridor, followed by Marquis Hulan, Yoris, and Blake.
All three had grim expressions.
They had gone to great lengths to set up such a trap, just waiting for Sunan to step into it, yet they hadn’t expected the other side wouldn’t even show themselves, forcing them to act early.
In the current situation, if Sunan was determined to escape, they had no hope of capturing him tonight.
Yet to their surprise, as soon as Ovijou spoke, a silhouette unexpectedly appeared at the ruined door.
It was Sunan!
Seeing Sunan, Marquis Hulan, Yoris, and Blake all displayed expressions of mixed anger and dread.
Only Ovijou remained calm, his tone instead gentle as he spoke:
“Pleased to meet you for the first time, Sunan.”
“Ovijou, High Priest?”
Sunan raised his eyebrows, his gaze subtly sweeping over the star-shaped necklace on his opponent’s chest.
He had just seen with his own eyes the opponent transform the star-shaped necklace into a dark blue spear and throw it, instantly knocking the dual-bladed spider flying.
To be able to injure a Tier Two legendary level dual-bladed spider in a single strike, it’s evident that this star-shaped necklace is also a holy artifact.
Ovijou nodded slightly, acknowledging Sunan’s speculation.
“Since you are willing to show up, it means you want to settle things with us, right?”
“Indeed,” Sunan smiled faintly.
Both parties knew well that the accumulated enmity up to this point had long left no room for reconciliation. They were determined to settle a score, a victory or defeat, and perhaps even a fight to the death.
Exchanging glances, Ovijou and Sunan moved simultaneously, soaring into the air and flying out of the Lord’s mansion, disappearing into the night sky shortly thereafter.
“Why doesn’t Ovijou the High Priest deal with Sunan here?” Marquis Hulan frowned, “Even though we’ve done so much preparation?”
Joris shook his head: “Sunan won’t fall for it. Didn’t you see he never set foot within the range of the Lord’s mansion?”
Both Sunan and Ovijou the High Priest want a conclusion, but neither is foolish enough to surrender the initiative to the other.
Sunan would not step into the Lord’s mansion, and Ovijou would not want to face Sunan and his golem puppet army simultaneously.
The current situation is just right for both sides to accept.
The rest depends on each one’s true strength!
“Let’s deal with these golem puppets first.”
Blake took out a piece of amber and tossed it into the air.
Under the moonlight, the amber revealed a small piece of shriveled, gray-white skin wrapped inside.
Starlight fell on the amber, and instantly it burst into a radiant light, exploding like fireworks, transforming into countless tiny stars that rained down like a shower.
Simultaneously, mysterious runes slowly appeared on the ground beneath everyone, emitting a faint glow, resonating with the falling stars. A strange wave of energy emerged, enveloping the entire Lord’s mansion.
The fighting Starfire Sect members suddenly felt invigorated, as if on a potion, their strength and speed surged tremendously.
In contrast, the golem puppets all became significantly sluggish, as if shackled by an invisible heavy weight.
The situation reversed instantly.
Now, it seemed the Starfire Sect vaguely held the upper hand.
However, Blake and Joris did not relax.
The former drew his longsword, while the latter opened the star book in his hand.
They looked toward the dual-bladed spider creeping out from the ruins, as if facing a formidable enemy.
This was the true strong foe!
…
Again, the familiar starry galaxy.
Sunan looked at the opposite Ovijou and curiously asked, “How many holy artifacts does the Starfire Sect actually have? And how are these holy artifacts created?”
Ovijou glanced at Sunan with some surprise.
“You are even more knowledgeable than I thought, to distinguish between holy artifacts and divine artifacts. The two wizards I met before treated holy artifacts as divine artifacts.”
“However, there’s no need for you to know how holy artifacts are made, considering that the dead don’t need to know too much.”
Sunan chuckled, “So confident? Didn’t you let a wizard escape last time?”
“That was because I didn’t use my real power,”
Ovijou said calmly, his gaze as deep as a dark pool.
“The backlash from that power is quite significant. I usually don’t use it unless necessary to kill a strong enemy.”
“But Sunan, you have that qualification.”
“Then I’m truly honored,” Sunan laughed mockingly.
“Now, feel the power from the divine spirit!”
The moment the words fell, a dazzling starlight suddenly radiated from Ovijou.
Instantly, the old man’s weathered and steady aura suddenly transformed, enveloped in a vast and ancient aura seemingly from long ago.
Within the radiant starlight, Ovijou seemed to become a true divine spirit, looking down at Sunan with an aloof gaze akin to looking at an ant.
The overwhelming pressure blanketed Sunan’s entire body, as if a boulder rolled down his heart, making his chest feel constricted.
He took a deep breath and then sighed.
“It’s been a while since I’ve felt this. It’s quite nostalgic.”
Ovijou’s expression froze, a look of astonishment flashing in his eyes.
