Chapter 176: Chapter 127: I Advise You Not to Do Anything Foolish (Part 2)
“Speaking of which, just the power Sunan has shown openly is enough to dissuade any thoughts of opposing him.”
“I advise you to abandon any unrealistic ideas. The others in the Woodland Cabin are not fools. No matter what benefits you offer, they will not agree to help you against Sunan.”
“On the contrary, I actually believe they might be tempted by the advantages Sunan offers and might turn against you.”
As the wand spoke, the Cangjin Emperor’s brow furrowed deeper and deeper.
“Are we just going to watch the Starry Principality rise?”
Anyone familiar with Kei’s rise to power couldn’t help but marvel at the miracle.
In just six years, Kei went from an exiled noble heir, a border city lord, rapidly growing through Flash Baron, Flash Marquis, to becoming a grand duke of a nation today!
The speed of power growth, the rapidity of territorial expansion, is nothing short of miraculous!
And all this is because Sunan is backing him!
Given time, if the new Starry Principality continues to develop, it might someday surpass the Cangjin Empire, becoming the new hegemon of the continent’s southeastern region.
By then, the Cangjin Empire would be in danger.
As the ruler of the Cangjin Empire, he absolutely cannot tolerate this happening!
Over the years, the Cangjin Empire has pressured the southeastern region, often clashing with neighboring countries, including the Starry Principality.
In fact, if the empire hadn’t just conquered a country a while back and needed time to recuperate, they would’ve already taken advantage of the Starry Principality’s internal turmoil to deploy troops.
No one expected things to develop this way.
If he had known earlier, he would’ve intervened in the Principality’s internal strife without hesitation.
“Look at it positively.”
The wand said calmly.
“The Starry Principality has just ended a massive war, and it will take at least a decade or so to regain its vitality.”
“And even with Sunan’s support, for the Starry Principality to grow enough to replace the empire, it would take tens or even hundreds of years.”
“By then, you’ll already be a pile of bones. Why worry so much?”
The Cangjin Emperor’s face turned dark.
This is nonsense!
As the sovereign of a nation, if he doesn’t think about the empire’s long-term future and only focuses on immediate matters, what right does he have to sit on the throne?
“You’re also a member of the empire, a member of the royal family, yet you’re unwilling to contribute to the empire?”
The wand, undeterred, retorted: “I’ve fulfilled my responsibilities as a royal family member fifty years ago. Since then, I have only a cooperative relationship with the empire. You provide resources, and I solve problems for you, simple as that. Don’t impose any extra responsibilities on me.”
Seeing the Cangjin Emperor still wanting to speak, the wand waved and interrupted him.
“That’s all I have to say. What to do is up to you. If any trouble arises, don’t expect me to clean up your mess.”
The moment the last word fell, the wand disappeared without a trace.
Leaving the Cangjin Emperor alone behind the desk, his facial expression shifting.
…
Flash City, base.
A group of apprentices were selecting tasks in front of the mission bulletin board when a voice suddenly called from afar.
“We won, our Flashing Territory army has entered Starry City!”
A boy of about twelve or thirteen ran over, panting and excitedly waving the war report in his hand.
Upon hearing this, the crowd immediately gathered around with a clamor.
“Is it true? Weren’t they heavily gathered at the border of Red Leaf Province just a few days ago?”
“Your news is outdated. I heard the Starry royal family voluntarily surrendered.”
“I see, no wonder it ended so quickly.”
“Haha, now the Marquis is the new Grand Duke of Starry!”
“The seniors are here!”
With a rustling sound, the crowd parted, and Sherman, Cole, and Attila walked in.
“We heard your shouting from afar. Is there new war news from the front lines?” Attila asked with a smile.
Immediately, an apprentice, eager to please, handed over the war report.
The three of them took a look, and joy appeared on their faces.
“Indeed, with the teacher around, Flashing Territory is sure to win!”
Cole wore a ’just as expected’ smile, then felt a bit of regret.
He had been thinking about joining the war once he advanced to Second-Level Wizard Apprentice, but he didn’t expect the war to end so quickly.
Having a teacher who is too formidable can sometimes be exasperating.
“The war is over, the teacher should be coming back soon.”
Attila said with a smile, and as soon as she spoke, she felt a weight on her shoulder—Amy had already appeared there.
“Meow, is Sunan coming back? That’s great!”
Amy said happily.
Sunan and Hidden Dragon had gone to the frontlines, leaving it alone in the underground world. Although exploring the underground was quite interesting, after some time, it couldn’t help but miss Sunan and Hidden Dragon a bit.
“I’ve found many treasures lately, meow. I’ll just give them to Sunan when he returns.”
“The teacher will surely like Lord Amy’s gifts.” Attila said, stroking Amy’s head.
The little cat squinted its eyes happily.
“Lord Amy, has there been any unusual activity from the human-faced lion in Ghost Lake City recently?” Cole suddenly asked.
Sunan had set a rule that no apprentice could enter Ghost Lake City without his permission.
Of all the apprentices present, only Sherman, Cole, and Attila had been allowed by Sunan to enter Ghost Lake City to handle some chores.
As such, the three of them had seen Carolina.
Recalling the first sight of the underground world, Sherman still felt a sense of wonder.
It was his first time seeing such a strange and magnificent world.
Before then, he had never imagined there was such a vast world hidden beneath the surface.
“No, meow.” Amy tilted her head, recalling, “Carolina has been pretty well-behaved recently, occasionally helping me drive away some monsters guarding treasures.”
Sherman snapped back to reality and said with a smile: “With the teacher’s Soul Contract in place, there’s no worry she’ll do anything irrational.”
“That’s not for sure.” Cole snorted, “Human-faced lions are all evil and cunning creatures. With the teacher not in Ghost Lake City, she might do something sneaky.”
Attila patted Amy’s head with a smile, saying: “Don’t worry, with Lord Amy watching, nothing will happen.”
Amy immediately puffed out its chest, proudly saying: “Exactly, meow, with me here, you can be at ease, I’ll keep an eye on Carolina when I return!”
“Lord Amy is amazing!” Attila praised.
Sherman and Cole watched, involuntarily drawing the corners of their mouths.
It seemed Lord Amy had been completely charmed by Attila.
“Alright, everyone disperse and get back to your tasks.”
Attila turned to the apprentices and said.
“The teacher’s been out for quite some time, and when he returns, he might assess our study progress, so everyone needs to work harder. Make sure not to make mistakes and get scolded.”
“Yes, senior sister.”
They followed her instructions, dispersing quickly.
“You really have a way with them; you’re becoming more and more respected as the senior sister.” Sherman said with a smile.
Attila rolled her eyes at him, softly saying: “That’s because you and Cole are always absorbed in learning and cultivation. I don’t have your talents and don’t push myself as hard, so I have more time to communicate with the younger apprentices, which is why they listen to me.”
“Alright, didn’t you plan to take a task? Go on.”
Seeing Attila didn’t want to discuss the topic further, Sherman and Cole wisely kept quiet and headed to the bulletin board.
Not far away, Miss Grell lay on a deck chair, watching the scene unfold, a meaningful smile appearing on her little face.
“Humans are truly interesting.”
