Synthetic Wizard - Chapter 177 - 128: Strength Built on Money

Chapter 177: Chapter 128: Strength Built on Money
Ghost Lake City.
Upon returning to this city at the heart of the island, Sunan was surprised to find that the number of slaves in the Lower City District seemed to have increased significantly.
On the road through the Lower City District, he saw five groups in succession, composed of Kobolds and Lizardmen carrying pickaxes, being led out of the city by the Human-faced Lions.
Sunan pondered over this.
Shortly after returning to the study in Base No. 2, Carolina hurriedly arrived.
“Master, you’re back.”
Carolina respectfully saluted.
Sunan casually waved his hand and asked, “What’s going on with those slaves outside?”
Carolina quickly explained, “I was just about to report to you, Master.”
“Kasham’s insects have been frequently dispatched lately, hunting the small tribes nearby. Those tribes couldn’t survive anymore, so they migrated toward us. I thought about the three ore veins still needing development, so I captured those guys and sent them to the mines.”
Carolina spoke as though it were a matter of course.
In the underground world, capturing the weak to serve as slaves is a perfectly normal practice for the strong.
In the past, food was a concern, but now with Flash City supplying food from the surface, there’s no longer any worry, allowing Carolina to capture slaves with even greater ruthlessness.
Sunan nodded, it seems Base No. 1 will need to manufacture more Clay Golems to get the remaining three ore veins operational as soon as possible.
“So, the insect disaster is coming soon?”
“It should be fairly soon,” Carolina said seriously, “Based on previous occurrences, it probably won’t be more than half a year at the latest.”
She paused, hesitated for a moment, but couldn’t resist asking, “Master, should we contact Matu and Auson? Handling the insect disaster by ourselves might be too much.”
“No rush, let’s see how Matu and Auson react first.”
Sunan dismissed it lightly, turning to inquire about other matters.
“How much Mithril do we have in storage now?”
“A little over three kilograms,” Carolina answered without hesitation.
As an aide, she was quite qualified, knowing what Sunan cared about most and having memorized the relevant data.
“Three kilograms…”
Sunan frowned slightly.
Forging a Secret Puppet required at least sixteen kilograms of Mithril.
Even adding what had been accumulated from purchases at Base No. 1 recently, it was only at one-third, still a long way off.
“Are there any other silver ore veins nearby?”
Carolina thought for a moment and said, “Within a hundred kilometers of Ghost Lake City, there are currently only two silver ore veins that have been surveyed. One we’re already developing, and the other is in Matu’s hands.”
Matu, huh.
Sunan’s eyes flashed slightly.
“Continue collecting Mithril.”
“By the way, where’s Amy?”
Carolina paused, looked around with a strange expression.
She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but Carolina felt like Amy had been secretly watching her lately.
Despite Amy’s teleportation abilities being unpredictable, as a noble Human-faced Lion adept at illusion techniques, Carolina could still sense Amy’s presence.
If it were anyone else, she might think they were monitoring her.
But Amy, a simple-minded Magical Pet, supposedly wouldn’t have such thoughts.
Who was behind this, urging Amy to do so?
It couldn’t be the Master, as he had no reason to do so.
Was it the apprentices in the base?
They probably were the only ones who could persuade Amy.
Though her thoughts scattered, Carolina didn’t show it on her face, and softly said, “Lady Amy was just here.”
As soon as she spoke, Amy suddenly appeared, landing on Sunan’s shoulder.
“Meow, Sunan you’re back, why were you gone so long? I missed you!”
“There were a lot of tasks, so it took a bit longer,” Sunan said, smiling as he pet Amy’s head, making her close her eyes in enjoyment, “But there’s not much happening on the surface now, I’ll be staying here for a while.”
“That’s great, meow!”
Amy cheered, then abruptly seemed to remember something, disappearing with a whoosh, and reappearing a few seconds later with a cloth bag in her mouth.
“Meow, this is a gift, treasures I’ve collected recently,” Amy said indistinctly.
“Thank you.”
Sunan smiled as he took the cloth bag and opened it to check right away.
Inside were more than ten items, scattered haphazardly.
Magic Essence Flower, Extreme Cold Wood, Eagle Eye Agate… all exclusive ’specialties’ of the underground world, each without exception a rare and precious material.
Sunan marveled quietly at Amy’s unparalleled Energy Particles sensing ability in the underground world, casually finding rare materials that were seldom seen outside.
“How is it, meow?” Amy anticipated with wide eyes, wearing a look that begged for praise.
Sunan chuckled, “I really like the gift, thank you, I’ll give you some Ice Condensation Mint later.”
Amy’s eyes sparkled, almost drooling.
Of all the Ice Condensation Mint she’s tasted, the ones Sunan gave were the most delicious.
They were the ultimate delicacy, as if concentrating many Ice Condensation Mints into one, forming an extreme taste.
She could enjoy it for a whole day with just one puff!
“Then hurry up, meow, I’ll wait for you here!” Amy urged excitedly.
Sunan agreed with a smile, giving Carolina a glance, signaling her to prepare some Ice Condensation Mint.
Carolina shot an annoyed glance at Amy, feeling less valued than a cat.
After synthesizing some Ice Condensation Mint and appeasing Amy, Sunan headed to the Puppet Factory, releasing the Elite Dual-bladed Spider.
In several skirmishes with the Starfire Sect, this Elite Dual-bladed Spider had been quite effective. In terms of combat power, it wasn’t much inferior to a Hidden Dragon with a Sub-dragon Blood concentration of 28%.
