Synthetic Wizard - Chapter 38: Worse Off Than a Cat

Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Worse Off Than a Cat
By this time, Sunan had already realized that the strange cat in front of him might very well be the magical creature that the Starfire Sect had been pursuing.
However, the cat’s sudden speech still took him by surprise.
Among magical creatures, there are many with intelligence comparable to humans, some even smarter.
But that does not mean these magical creatures can communicate normally with humans.
Take the Hidden Dragon as an example. As its life level increases, its intelligence will eventually reach a level similar to or even higher than that of humans.
Yet it still wouldn’t speak human languages, only ’Lizard Language’, and perhaps would naturally master Dragon Language after awakening its Giant Dragon Bloodline.
Unless someone patiently teaches it human languages, it’s almost impossible to see a Hidden Dragon speaking human words.
So seeing a cat speak human words, Sunan was quite astonished.
Teaching a cat to master human languages is no easy task.
“Meow, why don’t you talk to me?”
Seeing Sunan staring at him in silence, the cat once again seriously asked.
The voice was as tender as a seven or eight-year-old girl, sounding as clear and pleasant as a mountain spring.
Coming back to his senses, Sunan calmly said, “Sorry, seeing a cat as beautiful as you for the first time, I got a little mesmerized.”
“Meow, really? Thank you for the compliment.”
The cat’s eyes squinted happily, looking quite lively.
“My name is Sunan, what is yours?”
“My name is Amy.”
“How did Amy get into the room?”
“I just came in like this.”
Amy leaped forward gracefully, disappearing into thin air, and when she reappeared, she was on the other side of the room several meters away.
“Space teleportation!”
Sunan widened his eyes in astonishment.
Just at that moment, he perceived a fluctuation in space.
This peculiar little cat actually mastered the rare ability of spatial teleportation!
Sunan realized why the Starfire Sect could never catch this cat.
While the Hidden Dragon’s virtual transformation ability also traverses the void, the ultimate distance moved depends on its speed.
But spatial teleportation allows for instant movement within a certain range, ignoring distance and obstacles.
The radius of this range is from a few hundred meters to several kilometers.
For a Knight, such an ability is practically an unsolvable anomaly.
Even Sunan, before learning the Tier Four Magic [Dimension Anchor], would be equally powerless against abilities like spatial teleportation.
A cat that can speak human words and has mastered spatial teleportation, what is the origin of this little creature?
Sunan was growing increasingly curious.
Amy seemed not to understand refusal, answering every question he posed, even those regarding her abilities, without any tendency to avoid, with an innocence that seemed almost beautiful.
Sunan simply squatted down, attempting to appear as gentle as possible, and continued asking: “Amy, why did you come here?”
Amy leapt again, returning to Sunan’s front.
“Meow, I felt the energy particle fluctuations here, so I came to see.”
Saying this, Amy scrutinized Sunan closely, her eyes opening slightly wider.
“You have very dense energy particles on you, you’re a Wizard Apprentice, meow!”
Sunan raised an eyebrow: “You know Wizard Apprentice?”
“Of course, my owner told me, the owner is a very powerful wizard.”
The little cat puffed out its chest, its voice brimming with pride.
“What’s your owner’s name?”
Though he found conversing with a cat quite odd, Sunan patiently asked earnestly.
“Owner’s name… Owner is just called Owner.”
“Then where is your owner?”
“Owner…”
Amy’s mood suddenly dropped.
“Owner is missing.”
“I took a nap, woke up and found Owner gone, and then a group of bad guys broke in, scavenging everywhere, tried to catch me, luckily I was clever and escaped in time.”
“So that’s it, then you truly are unfortunate.”
Sunan reached out to stroke Amy’s back, while feeling the smoothness of the cat’s fur, he pondered silently.
Based on Amy’s words, the place she was in was very likely a wizard’s residence.
For some unknown reason, that wizard disappeared, and then the Starfire Sect people found the place and took away everything inside.
Thinking of this, Sunan couldn’t help but feel a pity.
Those things were wasted on the Starfire Sect, as they couldn’t use them. If he got them all, he’d surely gain a lot.
“Then why did those bad guys keep chasing after you?”
Perhaps it had been long since anyone petted her, Amy seemed to enjoy it, narrowing her eyes without realizing why Sunan knew she was being pursued, she answered without thinking:
“I was upset they stole Owner’s things, so I followed them into their place hoping to retrieve everything, but in my panic, I took the wrong items, and then the bad guys kept chasing me to get their stuff back.”
“What did you take?” Sunan asked instinctively.
Amy extended her fluffy paw, tapping the floor, and instantly a large egg-sized bead appeared out of nowhere.
Sunan quickly sensed that at the moment the bead appeared, the golden bell on Amy’s neck emitted a subtle energy particle fluctuation.
Clearly, it wasn’t an ordinary bell, but a spatial-type magical artifact.
Sunan couldn’t help but sigh.
He, as a second-level Wizard Apprentice, had no spatial-type magical artifacts till now, leaving him less successful even compared to a cat.
And the more it was so, the more Sunan became curious about Amy’s owner.
Someone capable of nurturing a magical creature like Amy surely wasn’t weak, perhaps a mighty Official Wizard.
However, it’s unclear how they managed to advance as a wizard on today’s Starlight Continent?
While pondering, Sunan looked toward the bead.
Upon close inspection, he realized it wasn’t a bead but an entirely round, crystal-clear, pale yellow amber, with… a drop of blood inside?
“May I take a look at it?” Sunan asked Amy while pointing at the amber.
Amy nodded readily: “No problem, but be careful, meow, this thing is a bit peculiar.”
Sunan nodded, then wrapped a layer of energy particles around his palm, and carefully picked up the amber.
After a pause, confirming no abnormalities had occurred, Sunan swiftly hid the amber using his body and checked the information.
Upon seeing it, his face instantly showed amazement.
[Divine Blood Amber, contains 0.05 milliliters of divine blood, carrying it enhances attraction to energy particles but has certain spiritual contamination properties. Prolonged close contact could alter thoughts and perceptions, leading to a fervent belief and worship of the divine blood’s source.]
