Synthetic Wizard - Chapter 40: The Versatile Cat

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: The Versatile Cat
The battle erupted violently in an instant.
However, contrary to the expectations of the Starfire Sect members, it was they who were attacked first.
Almost at the exact moment Troy finished speaking, two Starfire Sect members let out blood-curdling screams as their bodies were inexplicably torn into several pieces, as if ripped apart by the claws of a ferocious beast.
What happened?
Confusion flooded the minds of the Starfire Sect members simultaneously.
Before they could comprehend the situation, two more companions were flung into the air with a bang, their bodies distorted into bizarre and unnatural arcs accompanied by the spine-tingling sound of bones shattering. They barely twitched after hitting the ground before falling silent forever.
Troy finally reacted at this point, shouting in angry desperation, “Something’s invisible nearby, be alert!”
Unfortunately, his warning did nothing but instill more fear among his subordinates.
They had no idea where the invisible enemy was, nor how to defend or retaliate, leaving them to watch helplessly as their companions were torn apart by unseen attacks, their bones shattered, dying with agonizing screams.
In just the span of three or four breaths, over ten members of the Starfire Sect were killed.
The remaining survivors were filled with terror, their faces pale and hands trembling.
“Damn it!”
Troy gritted his teeth as he watched the scene, suddenly turning toward Sunan.
“Take that guy down first!”
Ryan also realized that this bizarre occurrence was Sunan’s doing.
Take him down first!
Facing the two charging at him with murderous intent, Sunan remained calm and unflustered, unhesitatingly tossing a Rune Gemstone.
With a whoosh, the gemstone erupted in mid-air, blazing a bright crimson that transformed into a surging wave of flames engulfing Ryan!
The Fighting Qi shield around Ryan’s body shattered within less than a breath, followed by the flames sweeping over him, turning him into a towering pillar of fire in an instant.
“Ah!!”
With a tragic scream, the Grand Knight was reduced to ashes by the flames in a blink of an eye.
On the other side, Troy watched in shock, his body shivering with cold fear.
Although Ryan’s strength was inferior to his, he was still a Junior Grand Knight, yet he was instantaneously killed. The methods of this mysterious figure were terrifying!
Seeing Sunan’s gaze turn toward him, a fear that seemed to tighten the strings of his heart surged within Troy, prompting him to immediately turn and flee.
He finally understood that this was not an opponent they could handle!
Even if everyone sacrificed their lives, they couldn’t do anything to him!
If they wanted to retrieve the Divine Blood Potion, they would have to invite the priest to act!
Yet, upon turning back, Troy was horrified to discover that all his men had perished. The ground was stained with dismembered limbs and blood, a gruesome sight.
Besides that, the surroundings were eerily empty, with no trace of the monstrous entity.
A sense of foreboding suddenly arose in Troy’s heart.
Sure enough, in the next instant, an immense force struck him from the side, akin to a tidal wave crashing down!
Boom!
Troy was sent flying like a cannonball, soaring a hundred meters before crashing to the ground, spewing a mist of blood mixed with flesh fragments.
Without pausing for breath, he hauled himself up, desperately sprinting forward.
But faster than him, a bolt of lightning!
A flash of electricity pierced through the night, crossing over a hundred meters in the blink of an eye, striking his back!
Crack!
Sparks of lightning exploded, enveloping Troy in an instant!
As the dazzling electric light faded, Troy had turned into a charred corpse, lifeless on the ground.
In the distance, Sunan indifferently retracted his hand.
Against Grand Knight level foes, neither Tier Zero Magic nor mere manipulation of Energy Particles was very effective.
The truly effective combat means remained the Rune Gemstones.
A single Rune Gemstone could instantly kill a Junior Grand Knight.
If the cost wasn’t so high, Sunan would’ve considered using Rune Gemstones as a regular combat tactic.
“Meow, Sunan, you’re amazing!”
Amy appeared out of nowhere beside Sunan’s feet, looking up at him with adoration.
So many bad guys, all solved by Sunan in a flash.
Too powerful!
“By the way, is that invisible giant your pet?” Amy asked curiously.
Sunan was surprised: “You can see the Hidden Dragon?”
“Yep, yep.” Amy nodded vigorously, “My master said my perception is very keen, allowing me to see things others can’t.”
“An ability similar to the True Sight.” Sunan mused thoughtfully.
After realizing it was discovered, the Hidden Dragon ceased hiding, revealing its form and gazing at Amy with large eyes.
Amy, in an instant, fluffed up and darted behind Sunan.
“Meow, don’t eat me, Amy isn’t tasty!”
Sunan paused for a moment, having indeed sensed through the Magic Pet Contract that the Hidden Dragon conveyed a thought akin to ’this cat looks tasty’.
“You can sense other creatures’ thoughts?”
Amy shrinkingly said, “Not really, meow, but I can sense others’ malice toward me.”
Surprising to have such an ability?
Sunan suddenly understood.
He had thought Amy was overly naive and innocent, approaching a stranger with no reservations and answering any questions.
Turns out, it sensed that he harbored no malice towards it, so it didn’t stay on guard.
Sunan couldn’t help but feel lucky. Luckily, when he saw the Divine Blood Amber and the bell-shaped space magic item, he didn’t grow greedy. Otherwise, Amy might have already slipped away.
But this little cat was quite the prodigy.
With space-warping, a form of True Sight, and now the addition of maliciousness detection, it possessed many pseudo-magic abilities.
Who knew if it had even more pseudo-magic abilities?
After marveling for a while, Sunan walked up to Ryan’s corpse, retrieving a statue from it.
Ryan had used this statue to determine the presence of Divine Blood Amber on him.
The reason these people accurately pinpointed his room location earlier was probably also due to this statue.
The moment he held the statue, a familiar murmur resounded in Sunan’s ears.
Enduring the Spiritual Contamination, he cautiously examined it.
But unlike magical items, the statue couldn’t be studied through Enchanted Runes for its usage. After a long inspection, he found nothing productive.
Compelled by frustration, Sunan crushed the statue, discovering a Divine Blood Amber inside.
“Now there are two.” Sunan delightfully stowed the two Divine Blood Ambers into the cube, then looked at the synthesis interface.
[Divine Blood Amber, Divine Blood content 0.1 ml, enhances attraction to Energy Particles when carried, but with some Spiritual Contamination, long-term close contact may alter thoughts and cognition, resulting in fervent worship of the Divine Blood’s source.]
The synthesized Divine Blood Amber description now lacked the word “intense” compared to before, regarding a ’fervent worship’.
This confirmed Sunan’s previous theory that synthesis could indeed reduce side effects.
“As long as I find enough Divine Blood Ambers, I can synthesize a tool that greatly enhances meditation efficiency!”
Sunan’s face blossomed with a joyful smile.
