Synthetic Wizard - Chapter 42: Treasure Detector

Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Treasure Detector
Boom!
The deafening sound echoed far into the silent night.
Sunan watched the dust rise hundreds of meters away with a calm expression, petting a cat while patiently waiting.
Soon, the direction of the manor was filled with thunderous shouts and screams.
Just from the sounds, Sunan could picture the members of the Starfire Sect rushing to the gate upon hearing the commotion, only to find the area deserted, and how bewildered and terrified they became when the invisible bloody attack suddenly burst around them.
Unless a Grand Knight-level priest or a higher-ranking official intervened, ordinary Starfire Sect members were merely lambs to be slaughtered when faced with the Hidden Dragon.
Until death arrived, they wouldn’t know where the attack originated.
The killing lasted about four or five minutes, followed closely by the invisible Hidden Dragon bursting from the manor and sprinting into the distance.
Behind it, three figures chased relentlessly.
One of them exuded a truly astonishing aura, and their sprinting speed was even a bit faster than the Hidden Dragon.
“A senior Grand Knight… most likely the priest responsible for managing this location.”
“The other two are also Grand Knights, probably priests.”
The Starfire Sect’s base in Stone Bell City is managed by one priest and eight priests.
Two priests died in Black Stone City.
Two priests died in last night’s battle.
That means, at this moment, the manor has at most two priests left.
“Meow, will Little Hidden be okay?” Amy asked worriedly.
Who knows when she gave the Hidden Dragon this name.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be fine,” Sunan reassured.
The Hidden Dragon’s ability to shift between reality and illusion is particularly advantageous in the complex town environment. If it focuses solely on escaping, even a senior Grand Knight won’t be able to catch up, only left to chase it in circles, running farther and farther.
Patiently waiting for a while, estimating that the three who left had run quite a distance away, Sunan then emerged and headed towards the manor.
He wasn’t adept at sneaking in.
After all, he lacked suitable magic or magical items.
But there was no need to sneak in.
The remaining defensive forces in the manor posed no threat to him now.
Quickly dealing with anyone blocking the way and finding the target of this trip was the most important task.
In the cluttered courtyard, a group of Starfire Sect members were busy treating the wounded. They were stunned to see a person and a cat swaggering in.
Coming to their senses, one of them immediately realized something was wrong, raised his weapon, and shouted sternly, “Who are you…?”
Crackle!
Before the words were finished, a bolt of lightning turned him to charcoal!
Then, more lightning and flames erupted suddenly, sweeping through the entire courtyard!
None of the Starfire Sect members present were Grand Knights, Sunan easily manipulated energy particles to deal with all of them.
“Where’s the thing you’re looking for?”
Sunan looked towards Amy perched on his shoulder.
The little creature lifted its head, tilted it slightly sensing, and pointed to the left front saying, “In that direction! The concentration of energy particles there is very high!”
Without another word, Sunan rushed towards the left front.
Along the way, Starfire Sect members who heard the commotion jumped out to obstruct him, but they were casually killed by him, unable even to pause his steps.
The manor wasn’t large, and it only took Sunan four or five minutes to reach the place Amy mentioned where energy particles were dense.
In front of him was a tightly closed iron door.
A splash of acid corroded a large hole in the iron door; Sunan bent down and passed through the hole, walking down the stairs.
What appeared before him was a vast underground cellar.
Luminous pearls embedded around the ceiling emitted soft white light, illuminating the underground cellar as if it were daylight.
Around the room were many wooden racks, each displaying various items.
Most were books, around thirty to forty of them.
There were also rings, necklaces, bracelets, and quite a few cloaks, swords, and such.
Sunan’s eyes lit up, and he immediately went to the rack with books, scanning through each one.
“Magic Philosophy”, “Plane Biology”, “Burning Hands”, “Magic Alert”, “Magic Missile”, “Weakening Beam”, “Basic Magic Item Creation”, “Low-level Magic Item Compendium”, “The Design and Manufacture of Magic Energy Crystal Forging Furnace”, “Demon Pattern Core”…
The dazzling array of books filled Sunan with delight.
Among these books, just the Tier One Magic Model books numbered seven or eight, and there was even one Tier Two Magic Model book.
The remaining books also contained a lot of incredibly useful knowledge.
For example, “Basic Magic Item Creation” could accelerate his progress in learning [Magic Item Creation].
“Low-level Magic Item Compendium” could provide design templates for him when manufacturing magic items in the future.
“The Design and Manufacture of Magic Energy Crystal Forging Furnace”, as the name suggests, is a design plan for a magic energy crystal forging furnace.
The furnace in Sunan’s current laboratory was just a basic one; if he could manufacture a magic energy crystal forging furnace, the cost of refining Black Rock Leopard would undoubtedly be reduced significantly, and it would also lay the groundwork for refining higher-tier golems.
“But Demon Pattern Core hasn’t been heard of before, is it a magical item?”
Sunan shook his head; this wasn’t the time to research it. The urgent task was to take the items away.
Without hesitation, he stored everything into a magic cube.
After some thought, he also removed the luminous pearls from the ceiling and stashed them away before looking at Amy.
“Are all your master’s items here?”
Amy nodded vigorously, “All are here.”
“Good, then next we’ll go find the Divine Blood Amber.”
“No problem, meow, the Divine Blood Amber is over there.” Amy pointed to the right.
Sunan suddenly paused on his way out, surprised to look at Amy.
“You can sense the location of the Divine Blood Amber?”
“Meow, I’ve already recorded the energy fluctuation of the Divine Blood Amber, it won’t be wrong.”
Amy tilted its head with a puzzled expression as if saying, isn’t this normal?
Sunan was instantly dumbfounded.
He originally thought Amy could only sense the density of energy particles, but unexpectedly, this little cat could truly sense the more essential energy fluctuation!
The gap between these two things is entirely like night and day.
The former, a Wizard (apprentice) can also do it as long as their spiritual power is sufficiently high or they master detection magic and other spells, at most their sensing range won’t be as far.
The latter can entirely act as a treasure detector.
As long as the energy fluctuation is recorded, similar or identical high-energy items can be found.
It’s incredibly practical when used for treasure hunting!
Sunan’s gaze towards Amy changed immediately, as if he was looking at some precious item.
He originally had thoughts of taking Amy back to Black Stone City; now he’s more determined than ever.
With Amy around, it would undoubtedly be much more convenient for him to search for magical items or explore wizard legacies in the future.
Amy didn’t know that someone was already contemplating taking it along, successfully retrieving its master’s items made it very happy, presently urging Sunan excitedly to search for Divine Blood Amber.
Gathering his thoughts, Sunan left the underground cellar and bent down to pass through the hole.
Just as his body passed through the hole, two radiant longswords attacked from both sides, aiming straight at his neck and heart.
