Synthetic Wizard - Chapter 44: A Slumber of a Thousand Years

Chapter 44: Chapter 44: A Slumber of a Thousand Years
A total of eighteen magical items.
Half of them were jewelry, while the rest were relatively larger items like cloaks, robes, and weapons.
To Sunan’s regret, more than half of these magical items were completely damaged.
They seemed to have existed for a long time, and the Enchanted Runes on their surfaces had been worn by time, their magical properties long since dissipated.
Only two of the magical items had relatively mild rune erosion, and could likely be repaired with some effort.
Judging from the number and complexity of the Enchanted Runes, these two magical items were originally of at least the Magic Level, which is true Witchcraft Artifacts.
But now, even if repaired, they would at most reach the level of secondary magical items.
“What a pity.”
Sunan sighed, then appeared somewhat puzzled.
“For a Witchcraft Artifact to naturally erode to this extent, it would take a millennium—a notion impossible for Amy’s master unless he had a hobby of collecting old Witchcraft Artifacts.”
Sunan turned to Amy, holding up the ring in his hand, and asked, “Amy, do you recognize this ring?”
Amy glanced at it and nodded, “I recognize it. This is the Witchcraft Artifact my master just made not long ago. Before I went to sleep, I saw this ring in the laboratory. How strange, why has it become so filthy?”
Sunan was stunned: “You saw the ring before, and it was still new?”
“That’s right.”
“Are you sure you’re not mistaken?”
Amy thought for a moment, then nodded forcefully: “Absolutely not!”
Sunan couldn’t help but take a deep breath.
The corrosion marks on the ring were definitely naturally formed.
If Amy’s words were true, this ring was made a thousand years ago!
And Amy’s master, the wizard who made the ring, was likely one of the group who left the Starlight Continent to explore the multiverse a millennium ago!
Wait a minute!
Sunan quickly realized.
Amy’s master left while it was sleeping, which means Amy slept for a thousand years?
This little creature is already a millennium old?!
Amy suddenly noticed Sunan’s gaze filled with astonishment.
That look was as if looking at a rare biological specimen.
“What’s wrong, meow?” The little creature tilted its head in confusion.
Sunan was silent for a moment, then asked, “Amy, have you ever seen any wizards other than your master?”
“Of course, I have.”
“My master had lots of friends who were wizards, and there were many students who were Wizard Apprentices. I used to see them every day, but now they’re all gone together with my master.”
“It’s so strange, meow. There used to be many wizards and Wizard Apprentices on the street, but I haven’t seen any since I woke up. You’re the first Wizard Apprentice I’ve met. Are wizards rare in this town?”
Case closed!
This little creature is truly a magical pet that survived a millennium!
Yet Sunan couldn’t understand why Amy’s master left it alone on the Starlight Continent.
Why did the little creature sleep for a thousand years?
Although he deduced part of Amy’s background, it only raised more questions that were impossible to comprehend.
Noticing something from Sunan’s expression, Amy asked, slightly puzzled, “What’s wrong, meow?”
After hesitating for a while, Sunan finally told Amy about the wizards leaving the Starlight Continent.
Upon hearing this, the little creature stood frozen in place, eyes dazed.
“Master… the master left the Starlight Continent and abandoned me, but why?”
“Did Amy do something wrong?”
Sunan reassured, “Maybe your master didn’t intend to abandon you but left for unavoidable reasons. Look how your master left so many things behind, suggesting the departure was quite sudden.”
Upon hearing this, Amy’s eyes suddenly lit up, nodding hard.
“That’s right, meow. I normally wouldn’t sleep for such a long time. It must be something my master did. If the master wanted to abandon me, there’d be no need to do this!”
“Exactly.” Sunan agreed with the little creature.
Once certain that its master had not truly abandoned it, Amy regained vitality, muttering as if to encourage itself, “The master will definitely return. I will wait here for the master.”
Sunan thought that this was likely.
In a millennium, when the elements revive, those departed wizards may return to the Starlight Continent.
Perhaps among them is Amy’s master.
“In that case, Amy, would you like to come to the place where I’m staying?”
“Meow, where Sunan lives?”
Amy seemed quite tempted at the suggestion, yet also slightly hesitant.
“But if I leave, what if the master returns and can’t find me?”
Sunan smiled, “You’re your master’s magical pet, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then that’s fine. Wizards and magical pets have a contract sense. If your master returns, there’s no way they wouldn’t find you.”
“Seems right.” Amy suddenly understood.
Sunan continued to gently persuade, “Besides, if you stay here, the Starfire Sect might come to catch you again. It’s better to leave with me to a place where they can’t find you.”
In fact, Amy currently no longer had the Divine Blood Amber, so the Starfire Sect couldn’t track it through the sense of divine blood.
However, Amy, with its admittedly low intelligence, hadn’t considered this at all; it just felt Sunan’s words made a lot of sense, coupled with the goodwill Sunan had established by helping it twice, so it happily agreed without hesitation.
Seeing this, a trace of amusement flashed in Sunan’s eyes.
Although there was personal interest involved in doing this, it was also for Amy’s benefit.
This little creature was too naive and unfamiliar with today’s Starlight Continent, making it easy to suffer alone out there. After all, intuitive perception is not foolproof.
It might as well come along with him; at least it would eat well and sleep well, ensuring it won’t be mistreated.
After the excitement passed, Amy was a bit shy and said, “But Sunan, wouldn’t this be too much trouble for you?”
“Not at all.” Sunan smiled slightly, then pointed to the things on the table, “But if you’re really feeling bad about it, why don’t you lend me these things for now? When your master returns, you can reclaim them.”
“No problem.” Amy agreed without thinking.
After all, there was no use for these things sitting with it.
“By the way, tomorrow, let’s visit your master’s residence again, maybe we can find some clues about your master’s departure.”
Finding a wizard’s residence from a thousand years ago was an opportunity Sunan wouldn’t miss.
There might be valuables to discover.
Amy agreed crisply without suspecting anything.
There were still four to five hours until dawn, and Sunan didn’t intend to waste time. He sat cross-legged on the bed and began meditating with the Divine Blood Amber in hand.
Four hours later, he opened his eyes and immediately checked the panel.
“Meditation Method proficiency increased by 287 points, roughly three and a half times what it was before.”
“Spiritual Power increased by 0.04.”
“Not bad!”
Sunan nodded in satisfaction.
At this rate, he could construct the fourth Starlight Ring within a month.
“If I could produce a second-tier Active Potion, efficiency could increase significantly.”
“Just in time for acquiring over 2,000 Gold Coins from the Starfire Sect, I’ll try synthesizing higher-grade potions when I return.”
Actually, Sunan had considered opening a Magic Plant Garden himself, cultivating Silver Moon Flowers on a large scale for making lesser Active Potions, which would significantly reduce costs.
But growing and cultivating magic plants isn’t like ordinary crops; it requires more than just land and hired hands.
Besides the common environmental factors like climate, soil, and humidity, magic plant cultivation also involves energy density.
With the current energy density of the Starlight Continent, small-scale magic plant cultivation is barely feasible, while large-scale cultivation necessitates establishing a Rune Array to gather Energy Particles and artificially increase energy density.
It’s precisely because cultivation is difficult that the price of Silver Moon Flower remains high.
This is considering Silver Moon Flower isn’t regarded as a particularly precious magic plant. For more valuable magic plants, caretakers would need specific magic plant cultivation knowledge.
To sum up, establishing a Magic Plant Garden isn’t a one-step process.
At least Black Stone City currently lacks the manpower and resources for Sunan to establish a Magic Plant Garden.
“I’ll reconsider this once I reclaim Flashing Territory.”
