Synthetic Wizard - Chapter 57: Young People Shouldn’t Overestimate Themselves

Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Young People Shouldn’t Overestimate Themselves
Ignoring Sunan’s mocking words, Owen instinctively stepped back, his expression fearful as he shouted loudly, “Someone come quickly, there’s an assassin!”
Giller couldn’t help but frown at the sharp voice altered by fear, looking at Owen with a flicker of disdain in his eyes.
The enemy had already invaded, and even a fool could guess that the guards were all dead. Screaming randomly like an idiot was truly embarrassing.
How come I never noticed this guy was such a fool before?
Owen also realized this moment, his face turned ghastly pale, cold sweat dripping down his forehead.
Giller ignored the fool, turning to Sunan with a playful smile:
“Sunan Yanest, I’ve heard of you, the legendary Wizard.”
“The Marquis himself has praised you as a promising young man. So, are you thinking of serving the Marquis?”
“As long as you achieve enough merit, not to mention a mere Baron, even a Viscount title could be of reward from the Marquis!”
“Who are you?” Sunan glanced at Giller.
“Giller Konos, special envoy of Marquis Golden Rock.”
Giller raised his chin slightly, with a hint of arrogance in his tone.
“So you’re just a dog of Marquis Golden Rock.” Sunan shook his head.
Giller’s smile froze, his face quickly turning gloomy, and coldly said, “Young man, don’t be too arrogant. Just because you became a Wizard doesn’t mean you can disregard everyone, there are many stronger than you out there.”
Sunan sneered and smiled, “So what?”
Seeing Sunan’s indifference throughout, Giller finally got completely enraged, his face turned icy cold.
“Looks like you’re just a fool who can’t see the situation, I overestimated you. Someone like you isn’t even qualified to serve the Marquis.”
“Very well, since you’ve come, don’t leave, leave your life here.”
“Lord Hodge, I’m counting on you.”
The final remark was directed to the cloaked man beside him.
Hodge nodded, pulled off his cloak, revealing a weathered face of someone around forty, and the shiny scale armor and steel longsword underneath.
“I’ve heard much about Wizards, but today is the first time I’ve encountered one. I hope you don’t disappoint me.”
Hodge’s eyes glared at Sunan, flashing with spirited fighting intent.
As his voice fell, without waiting for Sunan to respond, he suddenly swung his sword forward.
In the ear-piercing sound of the sword cutting through the air, a scorching Flame Sword Qi formed out of thin air, piercing through the void towards Sunan with electric-like speed.
“Elemental power!”
Sunan’s eyes narrowed, without dodging, an invisible shield instantly floated before him, blocking the Flame Sword Qi.
Missed the attack, Hodge wasn’t disappointed, leaping out, lightning-fast towards Sunan for an assault.
Sunan casually released a bolt of lightning, slightly thwarting Hodge, while rapidly retreating, exiting the hall in an instant.
Watching the two rush out of the hall one after another, Owen stood there bewildered with a face full of astonishment.
“Elemental power… Lord Hodge is a Legendary Knight!”
Giller laughed triumphantly, “I told you, with Lord Hodge here, you don’t need to worry at all.”
Recovering from shock, Owen was filled with a strong delight as if rising from hell to heaven.
Legendary Knights are the elite forces of the principality!
One Legendary Knight could single-handedly challenge dozens of Great Knights!
With a Legendary Knight present, what was there to fear?
Owen’s panic and fear were swept away, replaced by an expression of excitement.
The two immediately walked out of the hall, arriving at the courtyard outside.
The previously serene and elegant courtyard was now a mess, filled with shattered wood and rubble.
Hodge wielded a longsword fiery with blazing flames, continuously launching fierce offensives at Sunan.
The latter was almost suppressed in place, unable to dodge, relying only on the shield and protective ring, occasionally raising a hand to release lightning and gusts in counterattack.
Flames, lightning, and gusts intertwined, stirring up a deep, deafening roar.
Unlike Great Knights who could only generate Fighting Qi from their bodies, Legendary Knights had to some extent broken away from the physical bounds, able to interact with the natural energy particles.
Similar to a second-level Wizard Apprentice, they had initially grasped the skills to manipulate energy particles.
The difference was that most Legendary Knights could only convert single energy particles into single element forms, unlike Wizard Apprentices who could manipulate multiple energy particles with more diverse techniques.
Even so, mastering elemental power, the combat prowess of a Legendary Knight compared to a Great Knight could truly be described as a transformative change.
In layman terms, it was like transforming from a pure physical warrior to a magic-warrior hybrid that practiced both martial and magical arts.
Moreover, they could absorb energy particles to replenish consumption, greatly increase their endurance.
A Legendary Knight mastering elemental power could on the battlefield already confront thousands alone, enough to influence the outcome of smaller scale conflicts.
This powerful yet rare nature has made Legendary Knights’ presence on battlefields scarce in recent years.
They are more considered strategic weapons, rarely deployed easily.
Honestly, encountering a Legendary Knight here was quite unexpected for Sunan.
This level of expert, for him, a second-level Wizard Apprentice, was indeed tricky to handle.
At this moment, Sunan’s expression changed slightly, a smile flashed on his face.
Simultaneously, Hodge seemed to sense something, suddenly swung his sword towards the side.
Bang!
Sparks burst out in the empty void!
Along with a low hissing sound.
Hodge swung his sword, slashing out masses of flame, the scorching temperature slightly distorting the air, faintly outlining the silhouette of a giant beast on all fours.
It quickly transformed into a virtual form, avoiding the flame while retreating to Sunan’s side, hissing lowly.
Sunan chuckled softly, “Quite well done.”
Hodge squinted his eyes, his gaze tightly fixed on Sunan’s side.
Though there was nothing there, he seemed to clearly perceive the location of the Hidden Dragon.
“Exactly as the intel said, a perfectly invisible Exotic Beast.”
“But if you think this can defeat me, then you’re underestimating a Legendary Knight.”
At the level of a Legendary Knight, determining the enemy’s location was no longer purely relying on eyesight but more on perception.
Unless the aura could be hidden, even if the shape, sound, and scent were perfectly concealed, a Legendary Knight could still use perception to determine the enemy’s position.
At the hall entrance, Giller watched this scene, his expression filled with disdain.
“Useless, Sunan.”
“The power of a Legendary Knight far exceeds your imagination; your tricks are useless against Lord Hodge!”
Facing Giller’s taunts, Sunan was too lazy to even respond.
In terms of understanding Legendary Knights, everyone present, including Hodge himself, probably couldn’t match him.
In his past life, he had taken down not hundreds but at least seventy-eight Legendary Knights.
Among them even some mastering spatial power.
Compared to that, Hodge could only be considered average.
While tricky, he wasn’t without means to resolve it.
“Time to spend some money again.”
Sunan sighed, flipping his wrist, revealing several glowing rune gemstones in his palm.
