Synthetic Wizard - Chapter 89 - 86: Secular Family Ties Are Meaningless

Chapter 89: Chapter 86: Secular Family Ties Are Meaningless
Although Sherman and the other two were very curious about the man’s purpose for coming, they dared not defy their teacher’s words. They replied in unison and turned to enter the base.
Once the three figures disappeared inside the base’s entrance, Sunan glanced up and down at the man several times and said blandly, “You’re already here, so stop hiding and avoiding.”
A strange chuckle emanated from beneath the man’s robe.
Immediately following, he threw off the robe, revealing a scrawny body wearing only a pair of tattered pants.
His upper body was completely exposed, skin pale without a hint of blood, ribs visibly protruding, resembling a patient tortured by years of illness.
However, what was more horrifying was that a clearly discernible human face grew on the surface of his abdomen.
The eyes, nose, and mouth perfectly integrated with the belly, as if they had always been there.
“Nice to meet you for the first time, Sunan.”
The human face slowly spoke, its features appearing somewhat eerie.
“I’m Herb Gillman, I’m sorry to meet you in this manner, but as fellow Wizard Apprentices, I think you should understand this is just necessary caution, isn’t it?”
Sunan remained noncommittal.
Upon seeing the man before him, he immediately sensed the dense presence of undead aura emanating from him.
Obviously, this person was already dead; standing here now was merely a flesh puppet manipulated by someone.
The Wizard Apprentice behind the scenes clearly understood the risks of venturing alone into another Wizard Apprentice’s stronghold, which is why he resorted to this meeting method.
Seeing Sunan unmoved, Herb was unconcerned, his face displaying a faint smile, which seemed especially bizarre and frightful in the current situation.
“I come on behalf of Marquis Golden Rock to discuss something with you.”
“I hope you will no longer interfere in the war between the Golden Rock Alliance Army and the Flashing Territory.”
Sunan raised an eyebrow.
Of course, at this point in time, the only Wizard Apprentice who would make a special trip to visit would be the one supporting Marquis Golden Rock.
“You want me to let go of my father’s murderer?” Sunan’s eyes narrowed slightly.
“Father’s murderer?”
A gleam seemed to flicker across Herb’s face.
“Sunan, people like us have long surpassed ordinary levels of life, even surpassing knights.”
“A Level 3 Wizard Apprentice’s lifespan exceeds one hundred and fifty years, and with bodily modifications or lifespan-extending potions, living over two hundred years is no problem.”
“In our long lives, worldly familial bonds no longer hold any meaning. Personally, I think you shouldn’t be so caught up in it.”
“And I’m here in good faith; should you withdraw from this war, Marquis Golden Rock is willing to pay a price that satisfies you to apologize for past disrespect.”
In response to Herb’s persuasive words, Sunan remained entirely calm throughout.
“I’m curious about why you’re helping Marquis Golden Rock. Is it to utilize his power to gather resources?”
“Exactly, this approach is quite common among Wizard Apprentices, isn’t it?”
Sunan’s eyes slightly flickered.
This statement by Herb undoubtedly revealed two pieces of information.
One is that he knows other Wizard Apprentices.
The other is that it’s not uncommon for Wizard Apprentices like him to collaborate with great nobles.
“Are you also responsible for the Beastification Syndrome spreading in Ranshuang Province?”
Herb looked at Sunan in surprise, seemingly not expecting him to know about Beastification Syndrome.
“Indeed.”
“Do you have an original Beastman on your hands?”
Herb frowned: “Your questions are too many, Sunan, are you trying to extract information from me?”
Sunan smiled faintly, saying, “I’m just curious.”
Herb snorted coldly, saying, “No matter what, I’ve already shown my sincerity. Now is the time for you to show yours.”
“Talking a bunch of nonsense and claiming sincerity, isn’t your sincerity a bit too cheap?”
Sunan chuckled with disdain.
“Go back and tell Marquis Golden Rock to wash his neck clean and wait for me. I’ll settle accounts with him, one by one.”
Herb’s face turned completely gloomy, his tone ice-cold, saying, “So, you’re planning to oppose me to the end?”
“Let me return those words right to you.”
Sunan stood his ground, showing a cold smile.
“This is between me and Marquis Golden Rock, you’d better not interfere.”
Herb stared coldly at Sunan for a moment and with a sneer said, “If I’m not mistaken, you haven’t advanced to Level 3 Wizard Apprentice yet.”
“Are you, a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice, sure you want to oppose me as a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice?”
“As a Wizard Apprentice, you ought to understand the gap between Level 2 and Level 3.”
“I advise you to recognize the situation and not barrel down a path to destruction.”
Sunan smiled, saying, “You talk too much nonsense.”
“…You’ll regret this!”
Herb nearly squeezed out these words from between his teeth.
In the next second, the man’s body suddenly swelled up rapidly, like an inflatable balloon exploding suddenly, with countless flesh fragments splattering and raining down onto the surrounding Stone Golem.
Sizzle!
Where the Stone Golem was drenched by the flesh, green smoke immediately rose, quickly corroding into pits.
However, the flying flesh toward Sunan was blocked by an invisible force field.
He released his spiritual power to sense and discovered there were no longer any fluctuations of aura around.
“Is that it?”
Sunan was slightly puzzled.
This Wizard Apprentice named Herb Gillman came just for a face-to-face meeting?
No contingency plans after the failed negotiation?
“Or maybe…”
Sunan glanced toward the direction of Flash City, thought for a moment, and took out a communication crystal.
