Chapter 1125: Tomorrow, We Fight For Everything We Hold Dear In This World
As Prince Zepharion stared at the Planar Mountain Range, complex emotions flickered on his face.
His confidence had been filled to the brim when he first appeared in Pangea, and he genuinely believed that no one would be able to get in his way.
But it didn’t take long before Zion Leventis gave him a slap, breaking him out of his delusion.
With just a single battle, all his arrogance was stripped off his skin.
He didn’t want to admit it, but he felt ashamed and anxious. After all, this was his first campaign in another world.
And he lost—miserably at that.
“By the way, where is Zion?” Prince Zepharion asked. “The Dragonkins wished to meet him many times, but he never appeared during the meetings.”
“It’s because they are not worthy of him personally meeting them,” Prince Zorren replied.
Prince Zepharion looked at the Skavari Prince as if he were just telling a joke.
Seeing his doubtful gaze, Prince Zorren smiled faintly. “Don’t worry. You will see him soon.”
As one of Zion’s subordinates, he was aware of his Master’s circumstances.
He also knew that the effect of the pill that Zion had taken would wear off in a day or two, which meant that the beautiful young lady, who had caused a war between the Artemians and the Jinns, would finally disappear from the face of the world.
Prince Xylen and Prince Zepharion didn’t know that Zia was actually Zion.
Only Prince Valen had been told about it, and only because Thirteen had recognized him as “family”—of course, through future marital relations.
As the Jinns made their way to the mountain range, several insect-type monsters appeared, as if welcoming their arrival.
A two-meter-tall beetle approached Zia and started chirping.
“Yes, please prepare for war,” Zia replied to the insect, who was currently sharing its senses with Evuvug. “The Dragonkin and his allies are already on the way.”
The beetle nodded and moved aside, allowing the young lady and her entourage to hike up the mountain, where Thirteen’s insect army was bred and trained to fight.
“Our enemies will be arriving in a day or two, so let your subordinates rest,” Zia said to the leaders of the Jinns, who had joined her side. “When the battle starts, they may not be able to rest again.”
They had been marching for a few days already, and everyone was tired.
After asking the insects to guide the Jinns to the areas in the mountain range suitable for rest, Zia followed a beetle to a tunnel that led deeper inside the mountain range.
Sherry and Princess Aracelle followed behind her.
Princess Xynalia and Princess Laventia returned to their people, intending to boost their morale for the upcoming fight.
Stella and Siri asked the beetles to take them somewhere high up in the mountains, so they could get a good vantage point of the soon-to-be-battlefield, where the war would take place.
The Jinns were also led to a higher elevation in the mountains, so they could use it as a natural fortress against the enemies that they were about to fight.
Everyone prepared for the final showdown in their own way, knowing full well that it was only a matter of time before war came knocking on their doorstep.
Evuvug and Gwenn had prepared a special quarters for Zia and his lovers inside the mountain.
It had a window that overlooked the view facing north, where the Jinn Alliance would come from.
There were countless tunnels throughout the entire mountain range. They were perfect for both travel and ambush—they could go anywhere without being noticed and sneakily station themselves in perfect spots for sneak attacks, or anywhere that could grant them advantages over their enemies.
The sun had just set, and the first stars in the sky finally made their appearance.
In the past, no one could see any stars in the sky.
Only the moon illuminated the world.
No one really liked looking at the sky since the only stars they could see were falling ones, each indicating the death of a Wanderer.
The last thing anyone wanted to see was something akin to a meteor shower, for it meant that many Wanderers had died at the same time.
“The two of you should rest,” Zia said when she felt Sherry and Princess Aracelle hug her from behind.
“Rest with us,” Sherry replied. “You also need to rest.”
“Mmm.” Zia hummed in agreement before closing the window of their room within the mountain.
Just like Sherry had said, she was also very tired from the journey.
Fortunately, her two lovers were there to take care of her, so she wasn’t too exhausted.
A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she laid down on the bed, allowing herself to rest in Sherry’s embrace.
It didn’t even take half a minute for her to fall asleep, proving how tired she was from her ordeal.
Several hours later, Zia woke up from Sherry shaking her awake.
Knowing that her lover wouldn’t wake her unless it was important, the young lady immediately asked if their enemy had finally arrived.
“It’s not our enemies who arrived,” Sherry explained. “It’s the Wanderers from the Alliance.”
One of the insects had knocked in their room, and Princess Aracelle woke up to ask why it disturbed their sleep.
The beetle was a Jinn, so communicating with it wasn’t a problem.
“I see,” Zia muttered.
She thought the Wanderers would choose to stay in the naval base instead of risking their lives to fight the Jinns head on.
But since they chose to come, it meant that they had resolved themselves to see this war until the end.
“I guess there is still hope for humanity,” Zia muttered as she rose up from the bed.
She then slowly undressed, making her clothes fall beside her feet.
Sherry and Princess Aracelle asked Zia if she wanted to wear a different dress. Over the past few days, the two of them had been happily taking turns in dressing up their lover with their own clothes.
Zia shook her head and reached out to the space in front of her.
A second later, she was holding a ceremonial military suit, which was given to him by the Grand Marshal of the Central Government.
She suddenly felt like she would be able to use her dimensional storage, so she gave it a try.
And to her relief, it really worked, allowing her to get the clothes that she wished to wear for this occasion.
The suit was white with gold patterns, carefully made with the highest quality materials that gave both defense and comfort.
It even came with a pure white cape, so everyone would recognize their Supreme Commander once she joined them on the battlefield.
Sherry took the suit from Zia’s hand, and helped her put it on.
A few minutes later, the young lady was fully clothed, making Princess Aracelle look at her with dazed eyes.
“Wow.” Princess Aracelle said. “I think I’m falling in love with you all over again.”
“Me too,” Sherry commented before planting a kiss on Zia’s lips. “You look really cool right now, Zia.”
“I know.” Zia smiled faintly.
Ten minutes later, the three finally left the room and walked the underground tunnels that led to the surface.
When they arrived aboveground, they saw countless tents sprawled out at the base of the mountain.
The Wanderers had come, and they came in full force.
They had already been briefed about the identity of their allies and foes, which would prevent friendly fire when the battle actually started.
“Take me down, Sherry,” Zia said after she finished observing the tents below the mountain.
The young lady nodded and summoned her Adamantium Falcon, Ace.
As the giant bird slowly descended from the mountain, the Monarchs and the Thrones sensed its presence.
Ace landed right beside the biggest tent, which belonged to the Grand Marshal of the Central Government.
“That looks good on you, Zion,” Lawrence said as soon as he laid his eyes on the young lady who had finally made her appearance.
He already knew the story behind their Supreme Commander’s current appearance. However, the majority didn’t know Zia’s real identity.
The Grand Marshal watched with amusement as several Wanderers stared at Zia, thinking that she might be part of the Valkyries since they were the special unit that only had women as its members.
“I’m surprised everyone decided to come,” Zia replied. “Did you force them, Sir?”
“No.” Lawrence shook his head. “They came because they knew that humanity cannot afford to always run away when things get tough.”
As the two were talking, the Monarchs and the Thrones also made their appearance, looking at their Supreme Strategist whom they hadn’t seen in a long time.
“You know, I was thinking of marrying my great great granddaughter to you,” Douglas said before patting Zia’s shoulder. “But I think you should marry my great great grandson instead. How about it?”
The Monarch of the Griffin Clan chuckled when he saw Sherry and Princess Aracelle hug each of Zia’s arms, claiming her as their own.
Trevor Remington smiled faintly before greeting Zia. “So, what are our chances of winning this war?”
“It’s no longer zero, that’s for sure,” Zia replied. “But if I were to put a number to it, we have about thirty percent chance of winning.”
“Thirty percent is already a lot,” Lawrence commented. “It would have been higher if we are able to use our weapons of war.”
Zia nodded in agreement. Indeed, their technological weapons made the bulk of their damage output. After all, they would be fighting against Jinns, which had limited weaponry.
“Have you all written your last wills?” Zia asked in a teasing tone. “There’s no guarantee that any of you will be able to walk out of this battle alive.”
“I did,” Douglas replied. “Well, if I die, then I die. I’ve lived long enough.”
In the past, Douglas would definitely not put his life at risk. For him, his life was more important than anything in the world.
But after Aaron Ashford and Norman Stallard died, he started reflecting on himself. Their ending had been so pathetic, Douglas realized that he didn’t want to be like them.
Die like cowards, even pointing their weapons against their fellow humanity—especially at a time when everyone was busy fighting to keep their world safe.
He didn’t want to be remembered as one of the traitors of humanity, which would be written in the history books.
That was also the reason why the Ashford and Stallard Clans had come to fight in this war. They, too, didn’t want to be branded as traitors.
Suddenly, Camazotz descended from the sky, surprising the Wanderers beside Zia.
Some had taken out their weapons out of reflex, but after recognizing the Death Bat, they lowered their weapons so they wouldn’t make him angry.
“I spotted the Jinn Alliance,” Camazotz reported. “If they maintain their current pace, they will arrive here tomorrow at noon.”
After hearing the Death Bat’s report, the leaders of humanity glanced at their Supreme Commander at the same time.
“Rest, eat, and make peace with yourselves,” Zia stated before walking away. “Tomorrow, we fight for everything we hold dear in this world.”
Zia only wanted to see everyone and make sure that they came knowing what awaited them.
Now that she confirmed that they had indeed come to fight to the death, she would also do everything in her power to make their side emerge victorious in this war.
