Chapter 1164: Death Smiles At Us All [Part 1]
“It’s been a while since I killed a dragon,” said King Astrion’s Royal Guard Captain, Roen Halveth, as he gazed at Princess Fiora, whom he was up against. “I wonder if your flesh will taste as good as the one I had killed.”
“I’ll never die under a pervert’s hand,” Princess Fiora replied coldly as she stared at the middle-aged bald captain, who was eyeing her like she was some kind of delicacy.
“A beast who can talk is still a beast.” Captain Roen sneered. “Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of you once I cut off your limbs.”
The Guard Captain had broken through the Dragonkin’s offensive, killing hundreds of Dragonkin, before Princess Fiora arrived to face him.
Thirteen promised he would deal with two of the enemy’s archons, so Princess Fiora, Prince Aurelion, Commander Dravon, Camazotz, and Zapar focused on the remaining five Archons of the Artemian Army.
Their goal was simple.
To hold back the enemy for as long as they could.
In terms of battle prowess, the Alliance had the advantage when it came to battles involving Rank 9 Sovereigns and below.
As long as they were bought enough time, they would be able to annihilate most of the Artemian Army, who were only being supported by their Archons.
Somewhere in this chaotic battlefield, Zapar was being pushed back by his opponent, who was a bad matchup for him.
However, he wasn’t too worried as he glanced at his comrade, not fighting far from him.
“Swap!” Zapar shouted as he flew in Camazotz’s direction.
Thirteen had told the Majins that if they were to meet an Archon they couldn’t beat, they should immediately swap places with one of their comrades to best resolve the situation.
If one of the powerhouses of the Alliance fell, they would immediately be put into a disadvantage, so disadvantageous pairing should be dealt with as early as possible.
A red blur flew past Zapar as Camazotz clashed with the Aerial Commander of the Artemian Army.
Zapar headed toward the enemy Camazotz was fighting earlier, which was a woman with silver hair, wielding a spear.
Her name was Korrin, and she was the genius warrior whom the Artemian King had favored—her rise to her current rank had been fully sponsored.
As if annoyed that her original opponent had escaped, Korrin brandished her spear, leaving afterimages as she closed the gap between her and Zapar.
A spark followed by the sound of two weapons clashing spread in the battlefield as Korrin’s spear and Zapar’s halberd met for the first time.
The Majin Prince was pushed back by the collision, but there were no traces of fear or anxiety in his face.
In fact, a faint smile even hung on his lips after determining that his opponent was only slightly stronger than him.
Zapar wasn’t really a warrior.
He was more like someone who manipulated the battles from the shadows.
At most, his fighting abilities were average. But despite facing the genius warrior of the Artemian Army, Zapar couldn’t help but smile, believing that he wouldn’t lose to his opponent.
Despite Korrin being stronger than him, Zapar still had a trump card that he could use to win this battle.
“What are you smiling at?” Korrin asked in disdain.
“A snobbish friend of mine once said, ’Death smiles at us all, and all a man can do is smile back’,” Zapar replied “But when you look Death in the eye, and death blinks first, nothing seems impossible. And right now, I don’t think that winning against you is impossible.”
Korrin sneered as she once again sped up, creating after images as she circled around Zapar, aiming for the kill.
Zapar raised his guard, and purple dust spread from his body.
His opponent was moving too quickly for his eyes to follow, so he decided to just defend for the time being.
A moment later, he sensed the faintest trace of killing intent, prompting his reflex to raise his halberd and block the right side of his body.
“Guhh!” a groan escaped the Majin Prince’s lips as he was pushed back dozens of meters by Korrin’s deadly blow.
Fortunately, aside from the numbness spreading in his arms, he was able to block his opponent’s attack properly.
Korrin did a follow-up attack, making sure to not give Zapar any opportunity to launch a counterattack.
Her spear thrusts were so fast that blood spilled out of Zapar’s body, his opponent’s deadly attacks penetrating his defenses.
But despite all this, Zapar had successfully protected his vital organs, so although he was injured, his life wasn’t in danger.
This exchange continued, with Zapar retreating with every clash they made.
Finally, Korrin saw the perfect opportunity to strike, aiming a spear thrust on the Majin Prince’s chest.
The tip of her spear reached her target, piercing a bloody hole into the Majin Prince’s chest.
“It looks like Death didn’t smile at you today,” Korrin said coldly as she looked down on her foe that had knelt down on the ground.
Her spear was still lodged inside Zapar’s body, as if relishing the taste of his blood.
“Ha… Hahaha,” Zapar chuckled as blood poured from his mouth.
Korrin eyed him coldly before kicking his head to free her spear from his body.
The dying Majin Prince then eyed the genius of the Artemian Army.
“I want to know… the name of the person… who killed me,” Zapar said as he coughed another mouthful of blood.
“It’s Korrin Nyxelle,” Korrin stated. “Now, go to hell knowing who I am.”
Without any hesitation, she stabbed her spear on Zapar’s head, obliterating it completely.
The Artemian Genius then glanced at the battles simultaneously taking place around her and locked onto the Death Bat who had swapped places with Zapar earlier.
Just as she was about to support her comrade, she suddenly lost the strength in her legs, making her fall face first on the ground.
As she was about to fall, someone reached out to grab her hair, making her groan in pain.
“Careful now. We don’t want that beautiful face to have any scratches, do we?”
The lady’s eyes widened in shock because the voice that spoke from behind her came from the man whom she had just killed and should have been on his way to the afterlife by now.
