System's POV - Chapter 1191: Happily Never After [Part 3]

Chapter 1191: Happily Never After [Part 3]
Kate was a princess of the Kingdom of Valoria, but her mother was a palace maid.
Upon her birth, the Queen had sent her and her mother to the countryside, away from court politics.
And it was permitted by the King. To ensure she would live in peace, he even gave Kate’s mother 200 gold coins and assigned a few servants.
As much as the Queen had wanted to eliminate her, the former understood that the King would not allow it, so she held back any attempts to assassinate them.
Kate grew up without learning of her status, but that changed after her mother became sick with an incurable disease.
Fearful that her daughter might suffer grievances when she was no longer in the world, she told Kate everything and prayed to the Gods to keep her daughter safe.
Her wish was heard by Thirteen, who was looking for a new host to support.
Ironically, he met Kate during her thirteenth birthday, and they had been inseparable since.
When her mother died, Kate was at a loss about what to do. Coincidentally, it was then that an unfortunate accident befell the Crown Prince and the Second Prince of the Kingdom.
Both of them had died from a monster attack during their travel to one of the provinces of their Kingdom.
At their deaths, the Queen’s daughter was given the title of Crown Princess.
But it didn’t end there.
Some ambitious nobles got wind of Kate’s existence and decided to promote her, planning to make her their puppet empress to control the kingdom from the shadows.
The Queen discovered their plans, so she immediately sent her private forces to eliminate the princess.
It was then that Kate’s peaceful life ended, kickstarting her life on the run.
She was only able to survive because of Thirteen’s help, who made sure she wouldn’t be found by the forces of the high-ranking nobles, as well as the assassins and mercenaries whom the Queen had hired to eliminate her.
Many years have passed since then, and Kate was now twenty-five years old.
The King was growing old, and in their desperation, the court sought to capture or kill Kate—all to prop her up or get rid of her as a candidate for Queen of Valoria.
Princess Xynalia felt sorry for Kate, who had to live such a dangerous life the moment her mother passed away.
She could now understand why the young lady was so in love with Thirteen, who was like a knight in shining armor in her eyes.
It had been five months since Zion acquired a body, and frankly, Princess Xynalia was quite amused by his innocence, ignorance, and un-human-like behavior.
She had originally wanted to help him wake up in the real world, but being with him and Kate felt like the most natural thing in the world.
The succubus princess enjoyed their banter, as well as watching the young man learn a thing or two about being a mortal.
Thirteen rarely showed emotions and always wore a poker face.
The only time he showed a semblance of emotion was when Kate and Princess Xynalia were making love to him, which they enjoyed very much.
“What’s wrong?” Thirteen asked Kate, who had been pinching the bridge of her nose for nearly a minute.
“I just feel a little dizzy,” Kate replied. “Don’t worry, it’s not a big dea—”
Before she could even finish what she was going to say, the young lady hurried toward the back of a tree and started vomiting.
Thirteen was alarmed and immediately went to her side, rubbing her back to make her feel better.
He was starting to feel worried about Kate. This was the third consecutive day that she was feeling nauseous, which led to her vomiting at random times of the day.
“Kate, I think we should use the body scan option,” Thirteen said in a serious tone. “We will be spending some system points, but it will reveal if something is wrong with you.”
They were quite far from the nearest town, so having a doctor check on her condition was not possible.
So, the System of Cannon Fodders decided that this was the most logical thing to do at this time.
“Don’t be stingy when it comes to your health,” Thirteen added. “We can always collect points later, so let’s do a body scan.”
“You’re such a worrywart,” Kate replied. “It must be due to that mushroom I ate three days ago. The one that Xynalia called the Zion Mushroom.”
“You know, this is not a good time to joke around, right?” Princess Xynalia almost face-palmed, having thought of a different mushroom when Kate mentioned Zion Mushroom.
“Kate, let’s do a body scan,” Thirteen said firmly.
As much as he wanted to use Kate’s system points, he had no control over it. The only time he could use it was when his host had given permission, which he was asking right now.
“Hah… fine.” Kate leaned on a tree to close her eyes. “Use it, Mr. Worrywart.”
After getting permission, Thirteen placed his palm on the young lady’s head and activated a body scan, which would diagnose his host’s health and status.
The full body scan lasted for two minutes before a blue window screen appeared in front of Kate and Thirteen.
Princess Xynalia could also read these window screens, so she moved beside Kate to check her condition.
A moment later, the two ladies gasped when they saw the final note that was written at the very bottom of the window screen.
———
< Congratulations to the Host! >
< You are now four weeks pregnant! >
———
Thirteen, who was reading the same message, seemed to have blanked out as if his soul core had suddenly encountered a system error.
Princess Xynalia covered her lips as she and Kate exchanged a glance with each other.
“I-I’m pregnant?” Kate muttered.
“Yes, you are,” Princess Xynalia replied. “I just used my power on you, and I sensed a little life growing in your womb. Congratulations, Kate.”
Although she was surprised, a part of her was also expecting this to happen.
After all, she and Kate would embrace Thirteen nearly every night, so the possibility of the young lady conceiving was very high.
