Chapter 1438: The Final Boss Of The Trial Of Courage [Part 1]
“So this is Fractured Heaven,” Zaphiel muttered as his eyes skimmed through the land that had been previously sealed from the rest of the world.
“Can we just take the key and go?” Belial asked. “Damn it! Once I get my hands on Dantanian, I’ll give him a beating!”
“I want to beat him up as well,” Pharzuph commented. “Creating a tailored net for him took a lot of effort on our part.”
Zaphiel had noticed that the location of the keys hadn’t moved for a whole week.
He only had two theories for that. Either Dantanian gave up, or he hid the keys somewhere and escaped.
Regardless of what option the Fiend of Many Faces chose, they would learn very soon.
“Let’s go,” Zaphiel ordered as he and the other Celestials headed to the keys’ location.
To their surprise, there was a city near their destination. Thinking Dantanian could still be around, they decided to make a short detour first.
The moment they unleashed their Celestial Powers, the people in the city prostrated themselves on the ground.
“W-Welcome to the Sanctuary, Exalted Guests,” Arlo, one of the Absolutes who presided over the City, bowed in respect. “Is there something we can help you with?”
Zaphiel ignored the man and expanded his senses to cover the entire Sanctuary.
The other Celestials had also flown to the North, East, and West side of the city, creating an encirclement that would trap Dantanian if he was hiding within the Sanctuary.
Failing to sense the Fiend’s presence, Zaphiel shifted his attention back to Arlo.
“Have you seen a young man with black hair appear in this city?” Zaphiel asked. “His name is Dantanian.”
“D-Dantanian?” Arlo stuttered. “Yes. I saw him a week ago. But he left and I never saw him again.”
“Is that so?” Zaphiel clicked his tongue because his conclusion was right. Dantanian had escaped and left the keys behind.
The Celestial then checked his artifact. Regardless of where the Fiend had gone to, the keys were near. Securing them was the priority.
Belial, Pharzuph, and Rahab followed behind Zaphiel.
They headed to the location where the keys were giving a strong signal and realized that it was hidden in the so-called Trial of Courage.
“What nonsense is this?” Belial clicked his tongue. “A Trial of Courage?”
“Let’s just go in and see what Dantanian has prepared for us,” Pharzuph declared. “I want to get it over with.”
His patience was already very thin, and now, he had to go inside a trial in order to get the divine keys that they needed.
Zaphiel was also annoyed, but since he was certain that the keys were inside the trial, he had no choice but to go.
What happened next was a one-sided massacre.
All the monsters that blocked their path were annihilated without fail. The two Fiends, Belial and Pharzuph, vented their frustrations on the monsters and killed them as soon as they saw them.
They finished the trial floors with ease until they reached the 12th Floor.
Since Harahon and Khan had left this place, no more monsters appeared to greet the Celestials.
Perhaps it was a good thing. Had they remained, they would have died a pitiful death.
“It’s here,” Zaphiel said as he looked at the portal in front of him. “The keys are inside this portal.”
He then took a step to cross the portal and emerged on the other side.
When the other Celestials followed suit, they all gazed at the Colosseum with amusement.
“Here lies the Final Trial of the Temple of Courage,” Rahab said as he read the warning at the entrance. “In order to honor your courage, and resilience for coming this far, the opponent you will face will be just as strong as you.
“This trial is completely balanced, so you have a fifty-fifty chance of passing. As to whether you will succeed or not, let Fate decide whether you will pass the final test.”
“Hah! Very well, I’ll play this game,” Belial was so eager to fight that he entered the Colosseum without asking for anyone’s permission.
Suddenly, a message appeared in front of the other three Celestials.
———
[Do you wish to participate in the Trial or do you wish to Spectate instead?]
[Spectate]
[Participate]
———
Rahab chose to spectate, and disappeared where he stood. Zaphiel also chose to spectate, while Pharzuph decided to participate.
Rahab and Zaphiel found themselves sitting on the audience stands, while Belial and Pharzuph stood at the arena.
The two fiends glanced at their audience before shifting their gaze at their opponent.
Standing several meters away from them was a teenage boy with short black hair and green eyes.
Compared to his opponent, who were practically giants that stood over five meters tall, the human boy looked very frail in comparison.
But he showed no emotion on his face and simply held a dagger in each hand.
“Hah! Is this the final challenge?” Belial asked. “I was expecting more!”
Belial then charged at the teenage boy, intending to end the battle with a single smash. But when he came closer, Zion took a step forward and moved at speeds that made the spectators, Zaphiel and Rahab, flinch from surprise.
Belial’s punch landed where Zion had stood earlier. But instead of hitting his opponent, his target jumped on his arm and used it as a platform to get close to his head.
A moment later, a cry of pain escaped Belial’s lips as Zion kicked the side of his face, sending him crashing to the ground.
Using that as momentum, the teenage boy lunged at the shocked Pharzuph and landed a Flying Kick on his face.
Pharzuph saw the kick move in slow motion, but for some reason, he was unable to avoid it in time.
When he realized what had happened, the kick had already smacked him on the nose, making him stagger backward.
The Celestials, either fighting in the arena or watching from the stands, couldn’t believe it.
The young man’s attacks didn’t cease, following up with a barrage of punches and kicks at the two fallen Fiends, who didn’t see it coming.
