Chapter 1457: The Greatest Threat On The Battlefield [Part 2]
“Looks like they really hate you huh?” Apollyon said loud enough for his voice to be heard by everyone, including Zion.
“Since you decided to be part of the peanut gallery, then properly play your role as a peanut,” Zion replied fearlessly. “If you’re that bored, you can join Zaphiel’s side. I don’t mind.”
The corner of Forneus’ and Dantanian’s lips twitched after hearing their no-good teammate’s provocation.
“Hey! Don’t taunt Apollyon like that!” Forneus shouted. “That guy is a fart! He can explode at any moment!”
“You shut up as well, you fool!” Dantanian roared at the sea serpent who was adding insult to injury. “Apollyon is not a fart! He is just a…”
The Fiend of Many Faces paused for a bit as if trying to remember a word to fit the Fallen Angel of Death.
“He is just a narrow-minded individual who has a short-temper and bad breath! It’s not his fault!”
If Wormwood could speak properly, it would have cursed its two pig-teammates, who were courting death right now.
But it was too busy launching the Army of the sea skyward, using its branches to catapult them toward the sky.
It also swatted Belial away with its branches after the Manticore was dropped kick by Cranky from the sky.
Apollyon narrowed his eyes. Looks like Zion didn’t fear him. But that didn’t mean it would turn a blind eye to Forneus’ and Dantanian’s jab at him from the side.
Still, he held back. If he impulsively retaliated physically, the others would truly think that he was a narrow-minded, short-tempered individual.
The other Celestials, who were all spectating the battle, glanced at the Fallen Angel of Death.
They thought he would not allow himself to be insulted like that and attack the arrogant teenage boy. But to their surprise, Apollyon didn’t do anything.
He simply hovered in place with his arms crossed over his chest.
The battlefield was a chaotic mess, but Zion didn’t do anything but watch the battle unfold.
He didn’t use the formation to suppress the Celestial Army or help Forneus, Cranky, Dantanian, and Wormwood in their fight against their enemies.
It was as if he was waiting for something to happen.
Tiona and Stella remained vigilant, acting as the teenage boy’s Shield Maidens.
At the start, everyone was still looking down on Cranky, believing he couldn’t be that strong as a rookie Celestial.
But to their surprise, Cranky moved on the battlefield like a War God. He didn’t fight a single individual.
He fought all of them.
After successfully attacking his current opponent, he would turn into a lightning bolt and join his allies, forcing the opponent into a two on one battle.
Due to his speed, he was able to land blows on his targets at the right moment.
His flexibility and great decision-making skills once again tipped the battle in Zion’s favor.
But Zaphiel didn’t come here to be a punching bag. The Celestial took out a purple orb from his pocket and threw it into the sky above the island.
The orb exploded, and dark purple clouds spread like wildfire before it really burst into purple flames.
These flames then took the form of winged guardians, which descended from the sky to attack the island, as well as the nearby Sea Monsters on standby.
Tiona raised her black banner and planted it on the ground. She then summoned the demons serving her, who all moved to intercept their enemies.
Thirteen finally made another hand sign.
The demons and their clones, who were only Rank 1, suddenly unleashed a powerful aura. From Rank 1, they all directly jumped to Rank 6 Sovereigns.
They immediately formed a vanguard to clash with the purple celestial army that manifested from the purple orb Zaphiel had thrown earlier.
But the purple cloud was still expanding, creating countless minions that focused on attacking everyone except the Fiends and Celestials, as well as Zaphiel’s army.
Zaphiel decided to overwhelm their foes through sheer numbers, while he and his allies dealt with Forneus and his helpers.
Seeing that the situation was growing dire for their side, Thirteen’s hands moved in a blur, finishing several hand seals in rapid succession.
The sea suddenly rose and shot up beams of concentrated water toward the flaming warriors, as well as the purple cloud itself.
“Disperse!” Thirteen said before snapping his fingers.
The sea water exploded, and the purple cloud, as if listening to his orders, dispersed and cleared the sky above the battlefield.
’Waiting for him to finish that damned formation was worth it,’ Forneus thought as he clashed with Zaphiel to prevent him from targeting Wormwood. ’But why isn’t he using it to attack Zaphiel’s army directly?’
Earlier, Thirteen had unleashed razor blades to repel the arrow barrage from the Celestial Army and used those same razor blades to kill countless enemies at once.
But after doing that, he refrained from directly targeting Zaphiel’s army again.
Dantanian always told Forneus that Zion always did things for a reason. If he wasn’t doing anything, it meant that there was no need to do anything.
However, Forneus was wrong in his assumption.
Thirteen looked as if he wasn’t doing anything. But in fact, he was already restraining the Celestial Army.
Zaphiel also realized that his army was no longer unleashing a barrage of arrows at their enemies. And when he lightly probed, he was surprised to find an invisible dome erected without his notice.
This dome had pushed out the Celestial Army from the battlefield, forcing them to remain outside.
The first one to notice this was Wormwood. Earlier, he had thrown one Sea Monster after another at the sky. Amidst this, they suddenly hit an invincible wall, prompting the Plague Bearer to stop. Since then, he has put all his attention on Zaphiel and his cronies.
Thirteen had also silently messaged the Sea Monsters, asking them to be on standby and to be prepared for further orders.
Although confused about the teenage boy’s order, they still obeyed it without question.
The past few days were enough for them to know that Zion wasn’t an ordinary boy, and those who didn’t listen to him were punished by Forneus without question.
“Something’s strange…” Barman frowned. “That kid is preventing the small fries from clashing with each other, leaving Zaphiel and Forneus to duke it out with each other.”
“Maybe he didn’t want unwanted sacrifices?” Eae commented.
“Hmm…” Cahethal rubbed his chin before glancing at his friend, Dumah, the Celestial of Silence.
Dumah pressed a finger over his own lips before shaking his head.
Cahethal nodded in understanding. This meant that now was not the right time to move, and they should wait for the right moment to take action.
Apollyon and Mammon glanced at the Celestials in the distance, as if waiting for them to make a move.
Although they were just “Spectators” right now, that didn’t mean that they wouldn’t join the battle if they wished to do so. Who could stop them anyway?
Since Thirteen had his back to them, none of them noticed that the corner of the teenage boy’s lips rose up by a fraction.
’I knew it,’ Thirteen thought. ’Now, I’ll just have to wait and see if someone will take the bait.’
He prevented the low-ranking armies from clashing with each other because it would create too much chaos on the battlefield.
A chaotic battlefield was the perfect time to do something that wouldn’t be easily noticed by others.
Now that the Celestials were only looking at the battle of their peers, it gave them plenty of leeway to also observe each other, just in case the other party were to do something that would tilt the balance of power on the battlefield
