Taking the Mafia to the Magic World - Chapter 1124: Legends

Chapter 1124: Legends
After leaving the Inviting Isles, Vicente’s group traveled for a few weeks on the Sea of Stars without problems to delay them.
Naturally, not just any event would cause delays in the journey of a group with two powerful Sorcerers. With Vicente and the ice dragon traveling together, Rex and Larissa had their best sailing experience since they began their journey from Light Cay.
Thus, the group used their travel time mostly to combine their knowledge and experiences, one learning more about what the other had been through in the time they had been apart, but also with Kong teaching them about his rich experiences.
Kong avoided talking too much about his journey to restore the Nine Paths together with the other natives and allies of the Polaris Realm. That was still a sensitive subject and there wasn’t much useful information either, apart from his experiences of failure, of course. He focused on teaching the group what these people new to Anicane travel could learn and use more immediately on their journeys.
Kong taught them about the islands of Anicane, where one should go in search of certain types of resources or special pentagrams, where someone with a certain magical configuration would ascend, among other things. Vicente and Larissa were interested in these conversations, both having left people on their home planes who could, eventually, ascend to Anicane.
The magical journey they were on would lead them to difficult positions, they knew that. But one day, they intended to take a step back and go in search of their old acquaintances. For that, knowing a fraction of the knowledge of an ancient dragon like Kong would make a lot of difference.
But beyond the affairs of Anicane, Kong knew much more. He had met many people like Larissa and Vice from lower planes on his journey, as well as coming into contact with beings from Hell and Argardus. He could teach Vicente a little about what he didn’t know about these two dimensions, touching on legends and information about relevant facts.
In particular, he told of a great change in Hell a few centuries ago, which Vicente associated with the arrival of Lothur RItter in the dimension, given this Devil’s position and what he knew through Larissa. Kong also talked about stories of a submerged realm generated by the split of a great dimension, where the most arrogant bastards in the universe split into groups to fight over who would bring the former glory back to the universe.
Today they were sailing through the next 4th month, close to reaching the Red Enclave, when Kong remembered more information about the legendary Argardus.
As the group sailed through calm waters; mist covering the horizon amid the late afternoon gloom, with Rex lying on the bow of the boat, Larissa controlling the boat and Vicente sitting with his eyes closed behind Kong, the dragon in his humanoid form broke the silence. “Talking about Argardus, the evil tongues say that the Entitled Deities have ancient writings that tell about the most distant history of existence, with passages about the Celestial King.” He looked back, bringing up this subject with Vicente again.
Vicente opened his eyes, interested in what Kong had to say. “Was he part of Argardus?” He asked in a strange tone. “I didn’t expect that. From the things I saw in his memory, he seemed disconnected from both dimensions.”
Vicente had seen Kong’s memories, but not everything the dragon had experienced. His intervention in their first meeting was focused on what was most useful to him that day. So, he didn’t know many details about Kong’s life.
The man with the white hair that blended in with his beard and mustache of the same color shook his head in denial. “No, he shouldn’t be. At least not his original self. But there is a legend that justifies why Argardus has information about him.”
“Oh?”
“They say that the first Entitled Deities were natives of the same dimension as the Celestial King. In fact, they say that Argardus’ great rivalry with Hell began at that time, not because of the natural differences between the two dimensions, but because the first leaders of Argardus were natives of the absolute dimension, while the first leaders of Hell were mere underlings of natives killed in the great calamity.
Anyway, focusing on why Argardus has these writings, the stories say that in the sacred home of the Entitled Deities, there is a place that can be accessed by owners of thrones in the Upper Realm. There are the oldest books in existence, where part of the truth that has stood the test of time is kept.”
Looking at Vicente deeply, the elderly-looking dragon said, “You must get in or find a way to get someone into Argardus and get this information. That could be the difference that makes you succeed in your mission, Vicente!”
“That’s going to be difficult.” Vicente sighed at Kong’s mission. “I am a Devil, after all.”
“But you must find a way. Knowing what these writings contain could be the difference between doing something useless and following the necessary path.” Kong pointed out profoundly.
This made Vicente think about what he already knew, but he turned to himself, still uncomfortable about talking about what he thought of Minos Stuart. ’First, I will return to Hell. Only after that will I talk to them about it. Until then, it’s not safe.’ He looked up at the sky, remembering the Transcendent who had almost ended his journey not long ago.
He said to Kong, “Let’s first disembark at the Red Enclave. We’re still weak on our own. We should focus on increasing our numbers. After that, it might be interesting to go to Hell quickly. There are things I’d like to do and show you there before we continue with the more difficult of our plans.”
“How far will we go in the Red Enclave, master?” Rex asked as he raised his head from where he was lying and looked in Vice’s direction.
“Not very far, I’d say. My goal is to find Kong’s contact and understand the position of the vampires.” Vicente looked through the dark mist covering the path ahead, invariably remembering the past. “My history with the vampires is not good, but I’m willing to negotiate with them if it can benefit us.”
Despite what he himself had experienced in Polaris Realm, Vicente was now a calmer magician with more experience. He knew from Larissa that vampires were present on many planes and could be complicated. But there were creatures of the race, and even some hybrids, who could prove to be important allies. Hence, he wouldn’t rule out even a deal with the vampires of Anicane.
Larissa said from the cabin, “Vampires seem to be a good match for Hell, Vicente. Maybe they’re our natural allies after all.”
“I just hope they have useful information for us.” He commented before killing the subject. “We’re only three weeks away from our destination. Let’s remain alert. We’re still potential targets for Transcendents, regardless of our recent successes.”
Everyone turned their attention to their responsibilities, Rex and Larissa doing so because of the previous incident and Kong because of his long life of suffering.
