Taking the Mafia to the Magic World - Chapter 1125: The Diabolical Red Enclave I

Chapter 1125: The Diabolical Red Enclave I
Near the island of Red Enclave, Vicente and his companions left the interior of the ship to observe the approach of this destination after years of travel.
As they neared their destination, the group couldn’t help but look around the island and get more serious, leaving behind the fog that hid this zone of blood-red sky, heavily marked by darkness and shadows.
The island was shaped like a giant skull, marked by black rocks similar to those found in Hell. But besides its abnormal appearance, its aura, even from miles away, smelled of blood and carrion, with a murderous intent of its own similar to that of great assassins.
“I didn’t imagine it would be like this…” Rex said in a low voice, his fur bristling upwards and to the sides, while his muscles suddenly trembled.
Larissa also felt a threatening force envelop her body, but she handled the reaction better than her lion companion. Still, she formed an unflattering grimace and said, “We have to be careful. This place doesn’t look friendly.”
Vicente listened to his friends and just nodded in agreement.
Lyra had given them all the useful information they needed to know beforehand that non-vampires were potential prey for the locals. Getting into the Red Enclave was considered a simple task that anyone could do. But getting out was painfully difficult, and only the most powerful magical beings could complete this feat.
The Red Enclave was dominated by vampire forces, among the island’s other special races, but the vampires held the most influence over it. Not surprisingly, those who entered the Red Enclave ran the serious risk of becoming vampire ’food’, even though the vampires in Anicane were more controlled than those in Polaris Realm.
Contrary to what Vicente had become familiar with in Polaris Realm, in Anicane vampires didn’t go around killing and stealing the vitality and magical powers of magical beings. Outside the Red Enclave, they were as civilized as humans—most of the time—and in their territory they could still be rational, even though it was their natural hunting ground.
Even considering the rationality of Anicane’s vampires, it was still dangerous to travel through their ancestral home. In the Red Enclave, there were members of different bloodlines, with different purities of bloodline, sub-races and even weak members of the species, who were more prone to irrational acts. Consequently, journeys across the island were usually marked by blood and fighting.
And while the vampires of Polaris Realm were limited to the 6th stage of the magical path, the beings of Anicane could go as far as the 10th stage!
For all that, even though Vicente was already powerful, Lyra still wished him good luck and advised him to be cautious when entering the vampire realms alongside Rex and Larissa.
As he surveyed the territory ahead, Vicente remembered what he had heard directly from Lyra, but also what he had read in the books the elf had given him earlier. Feeling a little anxious and intrigued by the sensation coming from the island, he moved the ship’s mechanisms with his mind to speed up the arrival on the island.
Kong said, “Theloria must live in the Demons’ ancestral home of Red Enclave. As much as she traveled through Anicane, she is native to the area and returned to the domain to establish a safe haven after her journeys alongside the coalition.”
“That means we’ll have to go deep into vampire territory.” Larissa muttered as she remembered the map her elf friend had given them.
“Yes, we’ll pass close to the headquarters of the main vampire clan.” Kong confirmed, already quite used to the island.
The Red Enclave was one of the over 200 islands he had gotten to know in depth during his long journey of power in Anicane.
With Vicente’s help, he was already close to reaching the Transcendent stage, but he had worked hard to reach the apex of the Sorcerer stage, traveled through countless years and even more battles in this world.
He didn’t want to remember his bitter journey through this island, but from his experiences, he expressed some advice to the group. “In the Red Enclave, individual strength speaks louder than anything. Don’t hesitate to kill and establish your strength here or creatures will appear to challenge you until there is no chance of victory for you.”
“Won’t that cause us problems?” Larissa asked, not as aware of the local rules and customs as Kong and Vicente, or even Rex—a magical beast who had a better understanding of issues like this.
Kong shook his white-haired head in denial. “In the Red Enclave, the blood of the weak is worthless. If you kill a young master of a great clan, the vampires will simply spit on the corpse of the loser who lost to a foreign human.”
“That’s heavy even for us beasts,” Rex said under his breath, feeling a chill at the cruelty of these creatures.
Despite being a beast that loved combat and followed the law of the strong, Flaming Lions had great care for their offspring. Losing a great-grandchild or even a cousin was a disgrace and a shame for a branch of the tribe, which usually led to revenge movements.
Kong agreed with the lion. “Indeed. But that’s the way things are. That doesn’t mean there won’t be negative repercussions, but don’t expect the same level of pressure as in ’normal’ places. As a rule, this is a lawless domain. If you have power, you make the rules. If you don’t live by the rule of the strong, it’s your problem if you die suddenly.”
With Kong’s words, the group finally docked in the vicinity of a natural harbor Vicente had spotted minutes before. Stopping next to a black hill, Vicente was the first to disembark in the vampires’ domain, before Kong joined him and left the other members of the group to reconsider their next move.
When Rex and Larissa joined them, Vicente had a smile on his face, having already understood this place a little better.
’This island really is like the Hell. No wonder there are demons and vampires here. These creatures are really compatible with the underworld. He felt at home, noticing his crown growing stronger inside his soul space.
All of Vicente’s senses were heightened the moment he set foot in Red Enclave. His visual capacity and the range of his aura improved by almost 30% compared to his previous experience in the Inviting Isles, almost enough to make him unconsciously show his diabolical form at this point.
But Vicente remained focused on his objectives, maintaining his position on Hell and its power hidden in his body. When his two companions seemed ready, he led the way, leaving this desert area where they had arrived to begin their journey towards the heart of the island.
“It won’t be long before we come across the first local natives,” said Kong as he looked around with interest. “Lyra did well to find a map of such a secluded area of the island. It will give these two a chance to get used to the deadly aura before we face threats. But in no more than 30 minutes we will come across all sorts of local freaks.”
“That’s more than enough,” Vicente said as he looked back and saw the two improving their expressions with each passing moment in their flight.
Just like that, time passed and soon they spotted the first local native in their path!
