Hover Limo in Mega City I
A black hover limo glided through the streets of Mega City I, Sector III.
Alister sat with his arms folded, his eyes lazily drifting over the vibrant cityscape beyond the glass.
Beside him, Mar’Garet and Cinder rested casually against both his arms, peaceful expressions softening their features.
Miyu, however, sat alone in the far backseat. She seemed… closed off, her arms folded tightly as she stared blankly out the window, as if lost in thought.
Seated directly opposite Alister, Galisk observed quietly, his sharp golden eyes darting between Alister and Miyu.
After a prolonged silence, his gaze settled on Miyu, noticing the stiffness in her shoulders, the slight downturn of her lips.
Without a word, he shifted from his seat, rising smoothly and crossing the small space to sit beside her.
The sudden closeness caught Miyu off guard, but she didn’t turn to face him.
Galisk called out to her softly.
“Miyu.”
She didn’t respond.
He leaned back slightly, gazing at her for a moment before speaking again.
“What’s wrong, little star?”
Miyu tensed slightly, her gaze refusing to meet his.
“It’s nothing,” she muttered, her voice quieter than usual.
Galisk chuckled softly, shaking his head. He reached over, gently tapping her temple with two fingers.
“I’ve lived long enough to know ‘nothing’ is always ‘something.'” His golden eyes softened, a rare look of tenderness appearing in them. “You shouldn’t keep secrets from me. Daddy dearest is here now, and I’ll gladly flip the heavens on their heads just to see you smile.”
Miyu’s jaw clenched, her fingers tightening slightly around her sleeves.
She processed his words for a moment before finally exhaling, her shoulders sagging just a little.
“It’s Alister,” she said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Galisk’s brows lifted slightly, but he stayed silent, allowing her to continue.
“I thought we were close… being siblings and all that,” she muttered, her gaze now fixed on her own reflection in the dark glass of the window. “But recently, I’ve found out a ton of things. It’s like… I don’t really know him. Or maybe he doesn’t trust me, because if he did… why would he keep things from me?”
Galisk leaned back slightly, his gaze shifting briefly toward Alister, whose expression remained calm, still focused on the city beyond the glass. But Galisk knew he could hear them.
Then he turned back to Miyu, his hand resting gently on her head, fingers threading softly through her hair.
“Trust isn’t always about sharing everything, little star,” he murmured. “Sometimes, it’s about carrying burdens alone so others don’t have to.”
Miyu’s fingers tightened around the fabric of her sleeves.
“But I’m not weak,” she whispered, her voice trembling slightly. “I’m not some fragile thing he needs to protect from the truth. Him not telling me… it feels like he doesn’t trust me.”
Galisk sighed softly, his hand still resting gently on her head.
“Calm down, little star. You’re looking at this the wrong way.”
He shifted slightly, his golden gaze locking with hers.
“For most of his life, when you weren’t by his side, Alister had to rely on himself. He got used to carrying everything alone, burying his struggles so no one else would bear the weight. You can’t suddenly feel like he doesn’t trust you just because you found out about something he hadn’t told you yet. That’s not how trust works.”
Miyu’s lips parted as if to argue, but no words came. She found herself at a loss, her frustration mixing with guilt, knotting tightly in her chest.
Galisk leaned back slightly, his hand now cupping her cheek gently, thumb brushing away a tear that had escaped despite her efforts to hold it back.
“That young man right there,” he continued, turning her gaze toward Alister, “gave everything to cure you. I’m certain he went through hell to do it. Is that really the person you want to avoid? The person you want to hurt because of something you just found out?”
Miyu’s eyes glistened, then tears streamed down her face.
“No,” she sobbed, shaking her head as her tears rolled freely. “No, I don’t.”
Galisk pulled her into a gentle embrace, his hand cradling the back of her head as he whispered softly.
“I know it hurts, little star. It’s hard finding out people you thought you knew kept big secrets. But if there’s one thing that’s certain, it’s that your brother loves you—a lot. More than he could ever put into words.”
He pulled back just enough to wipe her tears with his thumb, his expression soft and sincere.
“So don’t give him the cold shoulder. It’ll eat him up inside more than he’d ever admit.”
Miyu nodded weakly, burying her face against Galisk’s chest, her sobs quieting into soft sniffles.
Galisk gently stroked Miyu’s hair, his fingers running softly through the strands.
“You should talk to your brother later.”
“Apologize… and ask him to explain. Okay?”
Miyu sniffled, wiping the last of her tears with the back of her hand, and nodded slowly. “Okay.”
Galisk’s smile warmed, pride shining in his golden eyes as he ruffled her hair playfully.
“That’s my little star.”
Miyu’s lips curled into a small, fragile smile, her heart lighter than it had been moments ago. She glanced up at him, her voice soft but filled with warmth.
“Thank you, Father.”
Upon hearing those words, Galisk’s eyes widened slightly, a look of surprise crossing his face.
Then, slowly, his lips stretched into a grin.
“I didn’t quite hear you, Miyu. Could you repeat what you just said?”
Miyu blinked, confused by his reaction.
“Thank you… Father?” she repeated, tilting her head slightly.
Galisk’s grin grew impossibly wider, his eyes sparkling with delight.
“Come again?”
A look of realization dawned on Miyu’s face. She narrowed her eyes, a faint pout forming on her lips as she huffed softly.
“Father… you’re enjoying this, aren’t you?”
Galisk chuckled, unabashed and full of warmth. “You can’t blame me, little star. You just called me ‘Father’ with that cute voice of yours.” He leaned back slightly, his grin practically glowing.
“It was so sweet, I had to confirm I wasn’t hallucinating.”
Miyu let out a small, exasperated sigh, but there was a hint of laughter beneath it. She shook her head, unable to stop the smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
Despite everything, this warmth—this bond—felt like the most natural thing in the world.
Alister glanced at them from the corner of his left eye and smiled warmly.
