Talent Awakening: Draconic Overlord Of The Apocalypse - Chapter 410: Claiming My Place

Anya’s eyes widened slightly before she looked away, a small blush dusting her cheeks. A soft smile played at her lips as she murmured, “Good. Then we’re dating now.”
Alister chuckled, shaking his head. “That is… if you’re okay with the fact that you’re going to be number three.”
At that, Anya’s eyes flicked past him, glancing at Cinder and Mar’Garet in the distance. The two women stood not too far away, clearly keeping an eye on the situation. With a slight exhale, she refocused on Alister, her gaze sharp and unwavering.
“The old man warned me about that,” she admitted, tilting her head. “But knowing it and accepting it are two different things. I’m not sure it’s something I’ll ever get used to—never been very good at sharing what’s mine.”
She stepped closer, her voice dropping just slightly as she looked up at him, her expression determined. “But here’s the thing, Alister. I don’t settle for third place. I don’t take a backseat to anyone.”
Alister arched an eyebrow, intrigued. “How condescending. What if you get the others angry? You do know they are dragons, right?”
Anya smirked, unfazed. “All that matters to me right now is that I’m going to make you see me as your number one. The others? I don’t care what they think. You’re the one I’m after.”
She reached out, placing a finger against his chest, a hand on her hip as she leaned in just enough to make her intent clear. “And just so we’re clear—when I ask you out, I don’t want anyone tagging along.” Her tone was firm, almost challenging. “Also, I’ll need your cell info so I can always know where you are, and I want to be able to train together and hang out often—”
Before she could continue, Alister suddenly placed a hand over her lips, silencing her.
“Calm down,” he said, his voice laced with amusement. “How is this supposed to be a relationship if you just have your way?” His piercing gaze locked onto hers.
“You said you want me—if that’s true, shouldn’t you be asking what I want from you?”
Anya blinked, momentarily caught off guard by his words. Her lips parted slightly beneath his fingers, but she didn’t pull away because, in that moment, she felt a strange feeling of excitement as she watched him take charge.
A smirk curled her lips beneath his hand. The thrill of being challenged, of having someone who wouldn’t just roll over for her, sent a sharp jolt of excitement through her.
Alister smirked, lowering his hand from her lips. She then spoke.
“Fine. What do you want from me?”
“Now that’s a better question.” He stepped closer, his voice turning smooth.
“For starters, I’d prefer if my girlfriend didn’t try to keep tabs on me like a secret agent, even if she is a guildmaster.”
Anya raised an eyebrow. “That sounds like something a man with secrets would say.”
Alister chuckled. “Or maybe I just enjoy my sense of freedom.”
Anya pursed her lips, then sighed. “Alright, alright, I’ll ease up… but I’m not making any promises. I could try.” She folded her arms before giving him a look. “But just so you know, I will still want to be able to come find you when I feel like it, so I’m still going to need your number.”
Alister shook his head with an amused smile. “Of course, you’ll get it. Second, I want to get to know you—not just as a guildmaster, not as some warrior trying to prove herself—but as you, the Anya behind the front she puts up. So I’d prefer if you were more expressive.”
“Oh? So you want to know the real me, huh?” She leaned in slightly, tilting her head. “And what if you don’t like what you find?”
Alister’s gaze remained steady as a small, knowing smirk played on his lips.
“I doubt the heart that fell in love with me could be that bad.”
Anya blinked, momentarily caught off guard by his words. A slow, almost reluctant smile appeared on her lips before she scoffed, crossing her arms.
“Confident, aren’t you?”
Alister chuckled. “Just stating the truth.”
She studied him for a moment, then exhaled, shaking her head with an amused glint in her eyes. “You really don’t know what you’re getting yourself into, do you?”
Alister tilted his head. “Then show me.”
Anya’s smirk widened. “Alright. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
For a moment, they simply stood there, eyes locked.
“Ali, dear, if you two are done flirting, can we leave now? Or do we have to stand here and watch you make googly eyes at each other all day?” Cinder suddenly spoke with a sharp tone.
Anya narrowed her eyes in Cinder’s direction—a small challenge. The dragon queen returned an equally sharp glance.
Alister smiled, stepping back slightly. “Guess we should wrap this up.”
Anya shook her head before sighing. “Fine… But before you go,” she murmured, her voice softer now, “I need to express myself just like you asked.”
Alister raised an eyebrow. “And how do you plan on doing that?”
Before he could get another word out, Anya suddenly grabbed his collar and pulled him down into a kiss.
The world around them faded as her lips pressed firmly against his. It was bold, possessive—and a silent challenge to the others. The taste of her lingered, warm and intoxicating.
For a moment, Alister found himself caught off guard, but then, just as quickly as it happened, she pulled away. “That was me expressing myself, and also… marking you with my scent.”
Alister blinked. “That… came out of nowhere. Marking me with your scent? You do know only wild animals do that, right?”
Anya’s confident expression faltered as a dusting of pink spread across her cheeks. She looked away, crossing her arms defensively. “Sh-Shut up,” she stammered, avoiding his gaze.
She shot him one last look, her crimson eyes gleaming, before turning to get into her car. The engine roared to life, and as she pulled away, Alister watched her go, a small smirk on his lips.
Miyu walked up beside him, arms crossed. “You definitely have playboy vibes now.”
Alister sighed, then flicked her forehead.
“Ouch.”
