Chapter 384: The Valkyries…. Become Mercenaries?
While Aurora, Isis, Xeros and his women were going to tackle the final abyssal missions.
In the Lower Realm of the Land of Weaving, much had changed. Since the fall of the Infinite Weavers, The Valkyries themselves had become the hottest topic through the lower realm.
[A/N: None of these people know that the higher realm is gone!]
Their names were spoken in awe, fear, and plenty of heated whispers.
Since the night of Masque, it was like the faction that was said to have connections with the creator of this place… vanished.
As the Valkyries rose in place.
—
[A/N: New Images of them will drop soon… or will be already in the Discord by the time you see this!]
Inside a private meeting room on the top floor of their headquarters, that Ash built — the three women were lounging like they owned the world.
Mira sat curled up in an oversized armchair, knees drawn to her chest.
Her now long auburn hair was tied in a loose ponytail. Since becoming an Unus, she like everyone else had become immeasurably more beautiful.
She also allowed some of old Harpy traits to show, having beautiful white and brown feathers on her arm and parts of her face.
Diana was sprawled across a long couch, one leg dangling over the armrest, sipping wine straight from the bottle.
Like always, she wore little to no clothing. Allowing her two sisters to get a perfect view… if they looked.
Not that it mattered anyway, even though they didn’t have sexual relations without Ash. Given their situation before meeting him, they had long since seen everything the other had to offer.
She still had her two long white braids and athletic build.
Lithia, as always, was the picture of shameless comfort — lying on her stomach on a pile of cushions.
She was lazily kicking her feet while reading another scroll, occasionally humming to herself.
“And they just keep piling in,” Mira mumbled, as she read.
“This sect master from the Lotus Domain wants some Valkyries to … ’personally escort’ his heir through a dangerous ruin. He’s offering thirty million mana stones and… um… ’private compensation’ if we… spend the night.”
Diana barked a laugh, nearly choking on her wine.
“Private compensation? Just send a few Valkyries to wipe the sect from the Lower Realm of Weaving.”
Lithia grinned wickedly, rolling onto her side.
“Pfft, I can’t believe they haven’t learned from the past two hundred domains we’ve destroyed.”
Mira simply tossed the scroll backwards as it vanished from existence.
“You don’t even have to mention it. I don’t know where he got the balls to submit something like that in the first place”
Diana spoke while taking another swig.
“Speaking of such things… I miss that bastard! It’s been too long since Master has chained me up and properly put me in my place.”
Lithia let out a dreamy sigh, kicking her feet again.
“Tell me about it, I even found tons of new ideas for us to have fun.”
“Stop!” Mira squeaked, face now bright red. “We’re supposed to be working!”
Diana laughed while scoffing.
“Tsk, how long are you going to keep up the pretense Mira? Aren’t you the one that likes to get fucked whi—.”
Mira dropped the scrolls and cut her off.
“Alright!” She said as her cheeks were bright red now.
Lithia burst into laughter.
“Yea we will see how you act once Master touches you again.”
The three of them continued sorting through the mountain of requests — some serious, some ridiculous, some outright perverted.
Most were from people hoping the Valkyries would take on dangerous tasks across the Land of Weaving or even venture into other dimensions.
All of this and them becoming… something akin to mercenaries all stemmed from their task.
Which was to simply look for standout talents. Now, Ash could have done this, but what be the point of having Valkyries.
And while he didn’t mind destroying literally everything. He thought it would be nice to give those with real potential a chance at a much better life.
The doors to the meeting room slid open while the continued to chat.
Kagami stepped inside — the Ancestor of the Mirror Foxes.
After all this time this guy was still… well a Mirror Fox.
He’d for the longest just followed the Valkyries and hadn’t seen Ash personally in many years. One thing that was certain though, he had become a Constellation and a true inhabitant of Ash’s verse.
“Mission complete,” he said simply. “Those Shadow beings won’t be breathing any longer.”
He paused, then rubbed the back of his neck, looking unusually hesitant for someone of his stature.
“There’s… something that’s been bothering me for a few millennia now.”
The three Valkyries looked up.
Mira tilted her head curiously.
“And… what is it?”
Kagami’s eyes flicked between them before he spoke.
“Kaguya…. I sent my granddaughter to Earth.” He said taking a pause as everyone obviously knew that Earth was in Ash’s possession.
Yet, he hadn’t seen her at all.
He exhaled slowly.
“I was wondering… if there’s any way you could contact Ash? Just to ask about her whereabouts. Even if she’s gone… I’d like to know.”
The room fell quiet for a moment…
Mira nodded as she smiled.
“I’m sure Master wouldn’t… do that knowing she’s your granddaughter. But I will put in a word.”
Truthfully, they could not determine her whereabouts either.
During the last battle, she had not even been seen at all.
However, knowing Ash as they did, it was clear he understood the connection between Kagami and Kaguya.
Moreover, there was no denying her striking beauty, and as long as one remained on Ash’s good side, then….
Kagami gave a small, respectful bow.
“Thank you. That’s all I ask.”
He turned to leave, tails swishing behind him, but paused at the door.
“And… tell him the Mirror Fox Clan is eternally grateful.”
With that, he stepped out.
The three Valkyries exchanged glances.
Diana picked the bottle back up.
“Well… let’s get back to our duties. Once we have enough talents we can go back.”
