Chapter 436: Asgardia – Drake vs Odin (3)
“BEGIN!”
The moment the sergeant’s words ended, both Drake and Odin moved.
CLANG!!!!!
They clashed in the middle of the stage, weapons striking with a sharp, echoing crack.
Drake gripped a plain iron sword — little more than discarded scrap from the armory, maybe Tier 4 at best, its edge nicked and worn.
Odin lunged forward with an equally battered spear, its dull tip still dangerous in the hands of someone who knew how to use it.
CLANG!!
Drake swept the spear aside with a smooth upward motion, then followed through with a diagonal slash aimed at Odin’s shoulder.
Odin twisted away just in time, the blade skimming his armor with a harsh scrape of metal.
In the same breath, he whipped his spear into a broad arc that forced Drake to spring back out of reach.
As things were just beginning… it was obvious that neither one faltered, especially with their advancement being on the line.
They reset instantly, circling each other, with their eyes locked…. for the slightest moment.
HUMMMMM!!!!!
Then Odin’s pure white eyes flashed brightly.
A rune of lightning ignited in the air around Drake — as the crackling sigils formed a cage in less than a heartbeat.
And without waiting at all, the lightning struck instantly.
CRACKLE-BOOM!
Even trapped in the cage of lightning, Drake tried to break free, dodging to the side.
But in such a cramped space, it was nearly impossible to avoid every bolt.
One struck him square in the chest, the impact sending him stumbling back several steps and leaving a smoldering scorch mark on his training tunic.
He wavered for a moment before steadying himself.
A faint smile played at his lips—then he charged straight back in.
The fight quickly turned into a brutal exchange of the two going blow for blow.
CLANG!
CLANG!
CLANG!!!!!
Drake’s sword moved with clean, efficient precision—each strike breaking Odin’s rhythm, each parry turning the spear’s force back on its wielder.
Odin had the experience, but Drake’s movements were quicker, more instinctive.
From the sidelines, the sergeant narrowed his eyes in disbelief.
“That quiet kid… he’s actually overwhelming him,” he muttered. “It’s like a natural… pure battle sense.”
He said in disbelief, “Where the hell did, he pick that up?”
But then, something else caught his attention.
Odin was setting up a ploy — slowly maneuvering Drake toward a patch of ground he had pre-marked with a hidden lightning trap rune.
Drake sensed the change instantly. As the God of Tyranny, every ability he gained served a single purpose—to crush anything and anyone in his way.
|Aura of Subjugation (Above Origin)|
HUMMMMM!!!!!
A low, oppressive pressure rolled off him—not a violent force, but a deep, soul-level weight that made hesitation feel inevitable.
As soon as it rippled outward, Odin froze mid-step.
In that split second, a mental conversation flashed inside Odin’s mind with his own God Star.
[We as the All Father must never hesitate… never in battle, in decision making… in sacrifice… never.]
In that instant, Odin’s mind cleared just enough for him to move—but it was already too late. Drake blurred forward, closing the gap in a heartbeat.
His sword swept down in a smooth, powerful arc.
CLANG!
CRACK!
The flat of the blade struck Odin’s side with perfect timing, sending him flying out of the ring.
The sergeant raised his hand.
“Round one — Drake!”
—-
[Do you see what hesitation brings along?] The emotionless voice echoed within Odin’s head again.
[For 18 Years we have been at this impasse… we must never hesitate!]
Odin clenched his fist as he dusted himself off, his eyes narrowed as he locked onto Drake.
“You’re not bad,” he spoke as he floated back into the fighting area. “Consider me enlightened.”
“Both of you ready yourselves,” the sergeant spoke this time with more anticipation.
“Round two… FIGHT!”
After those words came the second round, which didn’t play out like the first at all.
Early on in the fight Drake pressed on with his natural battling ability, nearly forcing Odin off the ring again.
However, once Odin was near the edge of the stage, he made his move.
As a Tier 10 cultivator one would have access to merely 1,000 Divinity, which was the same for even the heirs currently.
And much like mentioned before, Divinity was not just a fuel… but a weapon that could be used for whatever.
In this moment as Drake closed in, Odin’s eyes flashed once again.
CRACKLE!!!!!!
CRACKLEEE!!!!!!!!
More lightning shot out — not to attack, but to slow Drake down, creating a crackling web of purple bolts that forced him to weave and hesitate for a fraction of a second.
In that instant, Odin made his first sacrifice.
[Using 1,000 Divinity to Upgrade Asir Eyes?]
Without thinking twice, even as Drake’s aura of subjugation ran wild…. In that moment, one of his eyes went dark instantly ….
But the one eye that remained…
[The Users eyes have been upgraded to #9800 ranked Divine Eye. The Primordial All Father Eye.]
HUMMMMMMM!!!!!!!
Not only had his rank broken through from Tier 10 to Tier 11, but it happened in the blink of an eye.
Now he had an eye attuned not just to Runes, but to knowledge itself — able to see the hidden flows of essence, the tiniest flaws in technique, and the threads of intent before they even became action.
In that instant, Odin noticed something so small it barely counted as a flaw — the faintest hesitation in Drake’s footwork, a subtle shift caused by the lightning web.
It was as if every trace of hesitation vanished from Odin’s being, the very idea no longer even touching his thoughts.
Without pause, he moved swiftly, shaping and compressing a spear of pure lightning from the last of the 100 Divinity he’d earned upon ascending to a new rank.
CRACKLE!!!!!
BOOOOM!!!!!!!
The strike landed perfectly. Drake, caught mid-attack, was slammed by the lightning’s force, thrown off balance and sent hurtling from the stage.
The sergeant lifted his hand.
“Round two — Odin!”
