The Broken Halo - Chapter 274: Three Weeks

Chapter 274: 274: Three Weeks
After teaching the class about input control, Instructor Valdin moved on to Flow Stability.
Compared to output control and input control, flow stability was easier for majority of the class to understand because everybody could move their demonic energy around their body.
The main thing Instructor Valdin taught them was how to properly control the flow of their demonic energy so as to prevent wastage of energy.
According to him, many of them fail to precisely take note of just how much demonic energy their pathways could take.
The Initiates were also told that many of them were always straining their demonic pathways because they used more demonic energy than was required.
Doing such a thing led to their bodies leaking out a subtle quantity of demonic energy whenever they attacked.
This leakage is negligible and minor, but to attain a very high level of energy control, and to be an assassin that was worth of carrying the Shadowgrave title, such leakage could not be allowed.
Instructor Valdin also taught them how to be faster at moving their demonic energy and so on and so forth.
These were all things Simon already knew of, and he learned nothing new.
He was a little bit disappointed since he gained something from the input control class.
He thought he’d be able to gain something from the flow stability class, but it seemed he was too greedy.
Eventually, the energy control class came to an end.
“This is all we’re going to do today concerning Energy Control. You have two hours break before the next class which is on Chaos Runes.”
Sighs of relief instantly travelled across the classroom.
“Don’t forget the test I gave you guys.”
Many instantly froze at the mention of a test.
Instructor Valdin swept his gaze across the class.
“You all have three weeks to master your input and output control to the required level I told you all about.”
The eyes of many Initiates instantly widened in shock and disbelief.
“Three weeks?!”
“That’s too early!”
“Shit!”
“Fuck my life!”
Instructor Valdin said nothing and just stood with his hands behind his back.
He waited for the class to quiet down, but to his displeasure, it did not and it only got worse.
Many wanted him to increase the deadline of the test since they felt it was unfair.
Many knew just how difficult it was for them to learn how to move their demonic energy from their Demon Heart to several parts of their body.
It took some months, and it even took some a year.
To ask them to improve their output control, and most especially, their input control -which was a lot more difficult- was pure insanity to them.
Even Simon was a little bit surprised by the deadline Instructor Valdin gave.
He knew that not everybody was talented in controlling their internal energy, whether it be aether or demonic energy.
For many, it required repeated use and practice to have some level of proficiency in controlling their internal energy.
Simon was certain that the same thing also applied to Instructor Valdin.
’He should have given them six weeks at least. Three weeks is too much.’
Although Simon had this thought, he didn’t care about the feelings of his classmates.
For him, this test was nothing to him.
He could pass it in his sleep.
Knock
Knock
The classroom echoed with a knocking sound, and they all looked at Instructor Valdin who knocked the table.
The class became silent.
“In case you have forgotten, this is the Shadowgrave Academy. This is the Shadowgrave Clan. A clan of assassins, and to survive as an elite assassin of the clan, you’ll need to learn how to control your emotions and be quiet 99% of the time.”
“Do NOT behave like barbarians.”
A pressure instantly filled the room as everybody released soft groans.
They knew they had fucked up.
And they also knew that their class instructor was angry at them.
A few seconds later, the pressure disappeared.
Majority let out gasps of relief.
“The deadline remains in three weeks time. Those who fail the test would be punished.”
Instructor Valdin said coldly, and some began to sweat in fear.
“If you think that you can take it easy in the Shadowgrave Academy or Clan, then you must be fools.”
“Or do you think the reputation of the realm’s strongest clan of assassins is a joke to you?”
Everybody was silent and did not dare to respond or make a comment.
Instructor Valdin scoffed.
“Pathetic.”
“I can see why a slave is the king of the class. Bunch of wastes.”
Without saying anything more, Instructor Valdin walked out of the class, leaving a tense and silent classroom.
Simon’s lips twitched repeatedly behind his mask as he watched Instructor Valdin walk away.
’I didn’t even say or do anything this time around. How come I was still made to be the main talking point at the end of the class?’
Simon could not help but release a sigh, then he stood, completely ignoring the stares of hatred and killing intent from his classmates.
He knew what Instructor Valdin had just done, and it was quite obvious.
He had used him to fuel the flames of ambition and anger in the hearts of his classmates.
They wanted to complain about the deadline?
Mock them and give them a reason not to complain.
What even made it worse was that Instructor Valdin called him the king of the class.
None had ever outrightly said that Simon was the king of the class, but anybody with a working brain knew who the most influential and most terrifying figure in their class was.
But to say it out loud?
And to say that a slave was the king of their class?
Who could take that?
Many of them couldn’t, but Simon did not care in the slightest.
He began to walk toward the exit of the class with an indifferent gaze.
“Hey.”
Sunless called out to him and quickly stood.
“Where are you going? The cafeteria?”
Simon ignored her, and just kept on walking toward the exit of the classroom.
“…”
Everybody was stunned, including Sunless.
Had Simon just ignored the number one female in their class?
The most desired female in their class?
’He’s definitely going to die a virgin.’ Merath snickered inwardly as she watched Simon leave the class.
Meanwhile, Sunless’ thoughts were different from what one would expect.
’He’s so unpredictable. I want to watch more of him. So interesting.’
She smiled sweetly behind her mask.
