The Broken Halo - Chapter 281: Shell World

Chapter 281: 281: Shell World
The first book he read was about the Second Great War.
The Second Great War was a war that involved eighteen Demon Kings and thirteen Demi-Gods of Earth.
Anybody that sees such a line up would immediately predict that the demons would win and earth would definitely lose.
However, what many people would forget or fail to take into account is the fact that the demi-gods had the backing of the gods.
After knowing that the gods played a role in his death, and that everything was actually far more complex than he ever knew, he was fairly certain that the reason why the demons never won against earth was because of the gods.
But this thought troubled Simon more than one could imagine, and at some point, he had a terrifying thought as he read the book on the Second Great War.
’Is this all a game to the gods.’
Simon did not know, but what he did know was that the book on the Second Great War only had the surface truth, and not the deeper and darker truth.
The book talked about how the Second Great War went.
Certain battles that took place between some of the Demon Kings and Demi-Gods, the estimated number of deaths, the kingdoms and clans of the demon realm that were annihilated, the demon species that suffered the most or were annihilated, the Demon Kings that perished, and how long the war took.
The book also mentioned the Demi-Gods that perished and certain organizations of earth that were destroyed.
When Simon read the names of some of the Demi-Gods, he would pause a few times and frown some other times.
Apart from his five main friends and his wife, he knew three out of the remaining seven Demi-Gods, but he didn’t know the last four Demi-Gods.
However, Simon found it strange that the only Demi-Gods to come out alive after the war were his comrades and wife.
What were the odds that the other seven Demi-Gods were dead, and only his friends and wife were alive?
Maybe it was because they were actually more experienced and powerful than the remaining seven, but Simon didn’t believe this was the reason.
The three other Demi-Gods he knew were not weaklings. In fact, they were his subordinates and were part of his main elite army.
He believed that there was more to it, but the book didn’t specify how exactly some of the Demi-Gods died.
However, what it did specify was how so many Demon Kings died.
According to the book, the main reason why so many Demon Kings died was because of the pride of some Kings, and the refusal to cooperate with other Kings.
Many of the Demon Kings believed that they could survive on their own, and in their own domain, and Simon understood this.
A Demon King’s domain was where he or she was at their strongest.
Because of the power boost their domain gave them, they were very confident in it.
But who were humans?
Humans were cunning creatures who could be even more cunning than demons.
The book stated that three Demon Kings died because three or more Demi-Gods attacked them at once.
After the death of three Demon Kings, all the other Demon Kings became wiser. They knew that they could be killed at any point in time by the Demi-Gods, so they all had each other’s backing.
They killed two Demi-Gods in retaliation, and the entire demon realm believed that with time, they’d be able to kill all the Demi-Gods of Earth.
However, things took a drastic turn when humans brought out a secret weapon against three Demon Kings.
A Shell World.
Simon was extremely baffled when he read this part because there was nothing like a Shell World in his time, and unfortunately for him, the author of the book did not know what exactly a Shell World was.
The only thing he wrote down was that the Shell World was a result of a formation that required at least three Demi-Gods, and once the formation was activated, a massive spherical object would appear in the sky or on the land.
This spherical object was as massive as a mountain, and the appearance was always different.
The author noted that there was a Shell World that was completely white and bright, but the interior could not be seen.
One was completely black, while another looked like a dead world.
According to the author, the formation of a Shell World was extremely fast, and the moment a Demon King was trapped inside the Shell World, the Demon King could never leave.
These were the words of the current six Demon Kings.
The first shell world was used against three Demon Kings.
And aside from the sudden appearance of a massive spherical object, there would be no signs a catastrophic battle was taking place.
A Shell World prevented the catastrophic attacks of a Demon King or Demi-God from causing unimaginable damage to the earth or the demon realm.
And the moment Simon read this, he had his answer to how the demon realm and earth were still in one piece after a war involving over thirty Demi-Gods.
The author also wrote about how the Demon Kings became extremely wary of the Shell Worlds, and how they tried to come up with a counter for it, but they failed.
Apparently, the Shell World was the work of the gods, and not the humans or the Demi-Gods themselves.
Towards the end of the war, the demon realm only had ten Demon Kings left.
Two more Demon Kings had died after the first use of a Shell World against three Demon Kings.
And for the humans, they had nine Demi-Gods left.
Two more Demi-Gods had died after the death of the first two Demi-Gods.
At that point in time, eight Demon Kings had died, but only four Demi-Gods had died in the war.
The final battle that decided it all, took place in a sturdier and more powerful Shell World.
The Shell World looked like the sun, and at the end of the day, four Demon Kings died while three Demi-Gods died.
Six Demon Kings and six Demi-Gods came out alive, marking the end of the Second Great War.
