The Broken Halo - Chapter 309: On The Losing End

Chapter 309: 309: On The Losing End
One of the reasons why Agramormos was a bad match up for Merath is because of how fast and strong he was.
If she was facing Tibat instead, she could use her speed to overwhelm Tibat as long as Tibat failed to use her chaos properly.
And if one were to ask her how she was so fast, the answer was very simple.
An artifact.
And Agramormos and Tibat knew this because the book they bought had that information.
It shocked Agramormos and Tibat when they read that part of the book, and unfortunately for them, the artifact could only increase a Fiend’s speed by a major rank.
It could not increase the speed of an Archfiend to that of a Greater Demon.
If it could, then the greed in their hearts would be a raging inferno.
’This bitch…even if her speed is comparable to a Supreme Archfiend’s speed, her reflexes are extremely fast.’
’I can’t believe she was still able to protect her body with her arms and demonic energy.’
’As for her demonic energy…’
Agramormos shifted his gaze from Merath who had been sent flying and tumbling meters away from him to his gauntlet.
A portion of his gauntlet had burnt marks, and he could not help but frown when he saw this.
This was a Peak Profound Artifact that was made out of a special ore, and the fact that Merath’s curses energy could cause damage to his gauntlets made him to become extra wary.
’Her demonic energy doesn’t seem to burn like flames. It’s more like acid… corrosive. Blood? But is there corrosive blood?’
The gears in Agramormos’ mind were running wildly, but in the next moment, he had to shift his attention when he saw Merath approach him with a portion of her sleeves and clothes torn, surface bruises on her body, and a cold light in her black eyes.
“Tch. You’re still in one piece? It’s a good thing I’m the one fighting you then.”
Merath did not respond, though she was extremely pissed off and frustrated.
She wanted nothing more than to claw out Agramormos’ heart, but she could not.
’Even if I say that I should pay the absurd exit fee, Jorra won’t want to pay and he’d be forced to fight both of them. That can’t happen.’
’I have no other choice than to fight this brute, but I can’t expose too much of my capabilities.’
’I’ll make this into a battle of attrition… If Jorra wins his battle, then both of us will battle this lowly demon and win.’
’And if he loses, then there’s no point in me fighting. I’ll forfeit the battle.’
’Yes. This is better. All for the sake of the mission of the abyss.’
She closed her eyes, inhaled deeply, exhaled, then she moved her hand across her long white hair before opening her eyes with a cold light.
“Quite disappointing. Is this how you are in bed? So weak?”
Agramormos’ expression slowly changed behind his mask, and he could have sworn he heard a few stifled laughters.
“You’ll regret those words.”
Merath chuckled softly. “I think the unfortunate women you’ve slept with are the ones filled with regret.”
She shook her head slightly.
“And you call yourself a-”
Whoosh!
A boulder suddenly came flying toward her, cutting off her words.
She quickly crouched, dodging the boulder by a hair’s breath.
Boom!
Boom!
The sound of heavy footsteps resounded, and Merath calmly dodged to the side.
Bang!
A fist crashed into the ground, and Agramormos’ growl filled the air.
“I’ve changed my mind. I’ll rape you till you scream out your soul, then I’ll kill you and I’ll fuck your corpse.”
Merath frowned in extreme disgust. “You’re not only pathetic, you’re also disgusting.”
A dangerous glow flashed in Agramormos’ eyes, then he raised his right hand.
The stones and debris on the ground rose, then they twisted and formed imperfect earth spikes.
“Die!”
The earth spikes flew toward Merath, and the sound of the impact on the causeway was like multiple grenades and bullets being fired and launched at the same time.
While this battle was going on, the battle between Jorra and Tibat was nearly reaching its end.
Jorra had an extremely dark expression as he stared at the scene in front of him.
Compared to the last time where the only beasts present were the three-tailed scorpion and the demonic black boa, there was now a third beast, and this third beast was also a Superior Dread Beast.
This third was a bear whose chest and back was covered with spikes of flaming red crystals.
This beast is called a Flaming Crystal Bear.
The appearance of this beast surprised everybody, including Tibat who already knew that Jorra was a Beast Master.
However, Tibat was calm and did not panic because of the appearance of this beast.
She also raised her own army.
An army of wooden humanoid puppets rose from the ground, and well, it could not really be called an army since there were just twenty of them.
Sixteen small puppets were comparable to Minor Dread Beasts, and four big puppets were comparable to Superior Dread Beasts.
It was a bad match up for Jorra, and the poison of the demonic black boa and the three-tailed scorpion were worthless before these puppets.
The demonic black boa nearly died from the attacks of nearly a dozen ’weak’ puppets, and he had no choice but to retrieve the black boa for future purposes.
Though the demonic black boa was a Superior Dread Beast, it excelled in stealth attacks and poison. In the face of so many enemies that were resistant to poison, it was weak and could not do much.
As for the three-tailed scorpion, it was struggling to fight off two big puppets, but it was on the losing end because it was outnumbered.
Two of its tails had been cut off, and if not for the defence of its carapace, it would have died a long time ago.
The only beast that was giving Tibat a hard time was the Flaming Crystal Bear.
Its flames were constantly burning her wooden puppets, and she had to step in sometimes to prevent the two big puppets from burning to ashes.
However, it was obvious at a glance that Jorra was on the losing end.
