The Broken Halo - Chapter 327: Forgotten

Chapter 327: 327: Forgotten
Despite the danger of going too deep into his Sea of Consciousness, he decided to do it to see if he would be able to find the reason why his Sea of Consciousness was different from the norm.
He sank and sank and sank and sank till he could no longer see the seven black stars above his Sea of Consciousness.
For a normal sixteen year old Fiend, their Sea of Consciousness would not be as deep as Simon’s.
The depth and size of an individual’s Sea of Consciousness is linked to the experiences of the individual, the power level of the individual, and the mental cultivation technique of the individual…if he or she had one.
Although Simon did not have the full capabilities of his Demi-God soul and mind, that did not mean that his mind was average.
’My brain is reaching its limits.’
Despite the severity of this thought, he was calm.
He looked down with a calm expression, and when he saw that he was nowhere close to reaching the bottom of his Sea of Consciousness, he shook his head and decided to go back to the surface.
’These should be the thoughts of when I was around forty years old. Some are jumbled and a mess, but I guess this is how far I can go if I don’t want to cause permanent damage to my brain.’
’My current brain cannot process so many chaotic thoughts of gods and other things I experienced in my past life.’
’Let’s leave.’
Simon was about to swim upward, but he suddenly stopped and looked down.
He saw nothing, just total darkness. However, something else was going through his mind.
’Is it wise for me to not go past my limits and push myself in this situation.’
’My Sea of Consciousness is emitting a sinister and evil aura, and by all means, I should be more worried about it since I know that it’s different.’
’If I decide to wait till I become a Greater Demon, Demon Lord, or Demon King before I try again to locate the source, who’s to say that it won’t be too late by then?’
A determined light flashed in Simon’s eyes, and with a thought, he continued sinking.
’I’ll push myself until I can no longer continue. At least, if I do that, then I’ll have no regrets.’
Out in the real world, Simon’s arm trembled slightly, and Instructor Aphon noticed this.
He frowned slightly in confusion, but he did nothing when he saw that Simon was no longer trembling.
Meanwhile, Simon could feel his brain becoming overwhelmed and overloaded, but he still kept on going.
One minute later, his speed reduced and he knew that he had to stop.
He had crossed his limit, and it was even beginning to affect his body in his Sea of Consciousness.
’Still nothing. I guess I’ll have to try another time.’
But just as he was about to leave, a subtle white light suddenly flashed beneath him, and Simon frowned.
He looked down, but he saw nothing.
’I know I saw something.’
He waited again, but he still saw nothing.
He waited again for about six seconds, but he still saw nothing.
And this time around, he knew that he had to leave, but the whire flash he saw bothered him.
’What was that?’
Fortunately for him, his patience paid off and the white light flashed again, then he saw it.
And what he saw baffled him.
’A ring?’
’No.’
’It’s too far. I can’t see it very well, but it looks like a ring.’
He had the urge to reach this strange ring, but he could not.
It was just too far away from him, and going deeper could permanently damage his brain.
’How is there a ring in my Sea of Consciousness, and why-’
Just as Simon had this thought, an ancient sigh traveled across his Sea of Consciousness, causing ripples to spread across it.
Sigh
Simon trembled, and he found out that he could not move.
“How troublesome. Begone boy. You’re not ready.”
The moment these words traveled across his Sea of Consciousness, Simon was sent flying to the surface of his Sea of Consciousness at lightning speed.
Splash!
The moment Simon appeared on the surface of his Sea of Consciousness, his eyes in the real world were forcibly opened and a baffled light could be seen in his eyes.
Before he could even think about what was going on, he saw a pair of two eyes filled with two pupils directly in front of him.
He was startled.
“Instructor?”
Instructor Aphon’s eyes flashed with confusion then annoyance.
“Don’t instructor me. What happened?”
Simon blinked, then he felt something drop on his finger.
He looked down, and his eyes widened slightly when he saw blood dripping from beneath his mask to his finger.
He had the urge to touch his nose and face, but he was wearing his mask. However, he knew that he was bleeding from his nose and even eyes.
He could feel something strange in his eyes, and he knew that it was blood.
He looked at Instructor Aphon, then he spoke calmly.
“I think I mistakenly fell in my sea of consciousness itself, and I started panicking as I sank. I can’t really remember, everything is hazy.”
He lied with a straight face and gaze.
Instructor Aphon’s eyes flashed with realization, then he nodded.
“That’s not strange. It has happened to lots of people before. Your brain was overloaded with the information your sea of consciousness possessed. That’s why you’re bleeding.”
Simon nodded, then Instructor Aphon distanced himself from Simon and began walking down the steps.
“I’ll advice you go to the clinic to be certain that there’s no complications. Your brain would heal with time, but it’s better to get proper medical help.”
Simon nodded. “I will. Thank you.”
Instructor Aphon said nothing, and Simon exhaled softly.
He raised his mask gently, brought out a handkerchief from his spatial ring and began cleaning the blood on his face.
’A shame that I didn’t see anything in my sea of consciousness despite pushing myself past my limits.’
’I just bled for nothing.’
Simon…had forgotten about the ring and the voice.
