The Broken Halo - Chapter 427: Father Of Lies

It took Ormon nearly thirty seconds to react to what just happened.
He could not make sense of what he just saw, and he was confused.
He looked at Simon and asked.
“What just happened?”
Simon opened his fist and let go of the ashes in his hand.
“You wanted the truth. This is the truth.”
He paused and looked at Ormon.
“This is why I can’t use swords. They all turn to ashes the moment I hold them.”
Simon’s words were filled with sadness, and it was not fake in the slightest.
The pain of a swordsman not being able to hold a sword was truly indescribable.
Ormon however did not care about Simon’s pain, he was more curious about his words.
“All the swords you hold turn to ashes?”
Simon shook his head and corrected him.
“Not only swords. All the weapons I hold turn to ashes.”
Ormon’s expression became strange because this was the first time he was hearing about an artifact that prevented one from wielding weapons.
’Doesn’t it mean that the artifact was created for demons who used their fists?’
Ormon’s eyes shined brightly, and out of curiosity, he brought out another weapon from his spatial ring.
This time around, it was an axe, and it was a low grade Profound weapon- a weapon that was meant for Archfiends.
“Catch it.”
Without giving Simon the time to respond, he threw the axe at Simon.
“At least throw it on the floor you dimwit.” Simon clicked his tongue and cursed, then he caught the axe by its handle in the air.
Before he could even lower his hand, the axe turned to ash, and Simon’s lips twitched as the ashes fell on the bed and on his body.
“This is why I said throw it on the floor you fool.” He clicked his tongue in annoyance and frustration, then he got down the bed and started dusting the ashes from his body.
Ormon did not care about Simon’s insulting words. His attention was on the ashes, and he had so many questions in his mind.
A few seconds later, he looked at Simon.
“What are those artifacts? And what else can it do? I’m sure it has other abilities than preventing you from using other weapons.”
Simon dusted off the last ashes on his body, then he sat on the clean side of the bed as he answered Ormon’s questions.
“I don’t know what they’re called, and it has a few other abilities.”
“The first as you know it is that I can never remove it. Dunno if you want to count that as an ability but that’s one for me.”
“The second is that it has improved the constitution of my arms. Compared to other parts of my body, the natural defenses of my elbows down to my fingers are actually higher than the other parts of my body.”
He paused for a moment, his brows furrowing as he recalled something.
“My battle with Blackblade where I blocked some of his flaming swords and even the Sovereign ranked sword made me to realize that the constitution of my arms are very high.”
“I also believe that these wraps heal my arms. My arms can be cut off obviously, but I believe that no matter how badly injured they are, as long as I find a way to heal the injuries, the black wraps would make sure that there are no lasting or hidden injuries in my arms.”
Ormon’s eyes flickered the moment Simon spoke about the healing factor of the Chaos Wraps, and he cut Simon off.
“Are you sure about what you just said? That those black wraps can heal your arms and also make sure that there are no hidden injuries in your arms?”
Simon noticed the brightness in Ormon’s eyes, and he could not help but narrow his eyes very slightly.
He didn’t want to attract the greed of Ormon, and he was taking note of every single change in Ormon.
He shook his head in response to Ormon’s question.
“I’m not completely sure because I’ve never destroyed my arms so badly to the point that only very expensive elixirs would be able to heal them.”
Ormon nodded slightly, and he understood what Simon was talking about.
Simon was just sixteen, and it would be strange and worrying if Simon had fought a battle that completely destroyed his arms at his age.
Although Simon had said a lot, Ormon still had a feeling that Simon was not telling him everything.
“Is that all?”
Simon’s lips twitched slightly, then he released a soft sigh.
“Well, it has also increased the physical strength in my arms, and I find it a lot easier to channel my demonic energy through my arms. It feels… smoother.”
Ormon nodded again, but he was still not convinced. His guts were still telling him that there was more to that artifact and Simon was keeping them from him.
’Increased physical defenses. Increases physical strength. Higher healing factor, and a smoother demonic energy circulation.’
’Aside from the fact that every weapon he holds turns to ash, these are not very impressive abilities.’
’I don’t know what the grade of these artifacts are, but it to be so elusive to the point that I had no idea that it was an artifact even when this kid attacked me means that it’s not an average artifact.’
He looked at Simon suspiciously, then he asked again.
“Is that all?”
Simon immediately nodded with a calm expression despite the pressure Ormon was releasing on him.
He looked at the Chaos Wraps and released a deep sigh.
“It’s not like I was born with it. I’ve not spent so long with it that I’ll know everything about it, and I don’t want an appraiser to look into it because I trust no one.”
“Maybe it has some other abilities, but for now. I don’t know.”
“Hmmm.” Ormon hummed and began to stroke his beard.
He observed every single thing about Simon, his face, tone, body language, and even the little demonic energy he was leaking.
He wanted to look for signs that would show that Simon was lying, but he found none.
’If he’s lying, then he’s a master at lying.’
If Lilith could hear his thoughts, she would correct Ormon and tell him that Simon was not a master at lying but a father of lies.
He shook his head and decided to push this matter to the back of his head, then he asked another question.
“When did you get those wraps? And where did you get them?”
