The Broken Halo - Chapter 451: Time Skip; Two Months

As usual, time waited for no demon, god, or man.
Life in the academy moved on, and the events of Simon’s life and death battle with Blackblade faded to the back of the minds of nearly every demon in the Shadowgrave Clan.
And why wouldn’t it?
Two months had passed after all.
Surprisingly, the days after Simon’s battle with Blackblade was one of “peace” and “normalcy”.
There was no gang battle, no faction battle, and no explosive event that shook the academy.
Many First Years, Second Years, and even instructors were not used to this “peace”, and they were all wondering if this was the calm before the storm.
Many eyes were on Simon, and many were wondering if he was actually planning something in secret.
They all saw Simon as a demon who could not go one day without causing a scene or without making the headlines.
Some demons even began to call him the embodiment of chaos because he had brought nothing but chaos to the academy and even the clan as a whole from the moment he joined.
Some of Simon’s classmates began to even place bets amongst themselves.
They would bet on the day or how long it would take Simon to cause another chaotic scene in the academy.
Many were certain that Simon would not continue this ’peace’ for more than a week because they all believed that he loved chaos.
Even Instructor Valdin and several other instructors believed that Simon was a demon of chaos, and that he would find chaos one way or the other.
However, a week passed, and the academy was “peaceful”.
Two weeks passed, and there was still nothing from Simon.
Three weeks passed, and it was the same.
A month passed, and it was still the same.
Everybody began to wonder what was going on, and everybody began to give Simon strange looks.
Was he sick?
Some even began to consider this possibility.
However, demons could not get sick.
If a demon was sick, it was either poison or a curse, but Simon displayed neither of those symptoms.
Rumors flew up and down as to why Simon was so calm, and some of these rumors were so absurd.
For example, some said that an ancient being had taken over his body and that the original Simon was dead.
Some said that the reason why he always sought chaos in the past is because of a curse, but now he was no longer cursed.
Some even said that he had finally lost his virginity to Sunless, and Sunless was the reason why he was calm.
Aside from the rumors of why Simon was so calm, there were many rumors about his relationship with Sunless.
There are days Sunless would pester Simon and would follow him around even when he doesn’t want her to.
Many demons were already used to both of them eating together in the cafeteria, and they were tagged as the power couples of the first year.
Simon always wanted her to leave him alone, but she would use the fact that she bought the sovereign ranked sword from him even when she had no need for it.
Even if Simon tried to use the fact that she made millions off him, she would completely ignore his words and stick with him whenever she wished.
She would sit beside him whenever he attended classes, and she would also eat with him in the cafeteria.
The only thing that did not make Simon to be completely furious and annoyed with her is that she always seemed to know his limit.
She knew when to stop and when to push.
As for the peace that everybody was talking about?
That was not completely true.
Because of his assumed relationship with Sunless, there were some first year and second years demons and even demonesses who challenged him publicly.
Some even tried to assassinate him at times.
There were times where he thought these horny and foolish demons were sent by the factions, and well, they always suffered as a result of their foolishness.
Another reason why the academy was not actually peaceful is because Simon did not stop extorting his classmates of their weekly stipends.
Some tried to fight back, but they were all useless and weak to accomplish anything against the Iron Fangs and Simon.
This was the only ’chaos’ that Simon brought to the academy, but his classmates already expected this and many of them started getting used to it.
They all knew how powerful Simon was, so many didn’t even bother to fight back and they just accepted that this was going to be their fate from now on… until they got stronger.
How many of them could confidently say that they could defeat a Supreme Archfiend who possessed two sovereign artifacts?
Some guessed that maybe Sunless, Jorra, and Merath could do so, but these three demons never engaged in any pointless or meaningless battle, so they had no idea of the full capabilities of Sunless, Jorra, and Merath.
What his classmates did to change their fates and to stop living under Simon’s thumb was to train and get a lot stronger.
And many instructors were very impressed by their growths in just two months.
Many considered the academy to be peaceful, but it was not as peaceful as one would think.
Simon’s life in the academy was now to attend some of his classes, learn one or two things from the classes, train with Sonya, buy beasts for the Eternal Mind Zoo, create as many mazes as possible for the Eternal Mind Maze, create the most complex maze he had ever seen in his past life, learn and create new mental techniques, learn more about chaos runes, ask Lilith some questions at times, train with Sormon because he was now Sormon’s third disciple, practice the Broken Rhythm Art on his own, read more books in the library, give orders to the Iron Fangs and the poisoned slaves of the academy and clan, extort his classmates of their weekly stipends every week, eat, cultivate, and survive.
