The Broken Halo - Chapter 473: Chaos Begins

Simon could not help but feel a little bit of pity for the slave.
Due to his anger and loss of control, he excessively increased his bid by a million.
And he could not be blamed actually.
Simon was not playing by the rule books. Instead of him to slowly increase the bid a hundred thousand or two hundred thousand, he was jumping multiple steps.
The slave has definitely overpaid for the hydra’s blood essence, and Simon could only imagine what the reaction of his master would be like.
’And for his sake, hopefully his master does not kill him or punish him severely.’
Simon shook his head slightly, then he watched as the hydra’s blood was taken away.
It was a shame that he was not able to get it, but…
’Zevrik Morvain huh. I hope you won’t mind losing your precious slave.’
Simon’s eyes flashed with a cold light.
The auction continued as planned, and unfortunately, Simon saw nothing that interested him.
Though, he believed that even if he saw, he would not be able to afford.
’Those incompetent Grey Pact fools. Why would you give me just five million low grade hell stones in a place like this.’
Simon rubbed his head with a frustrated expression, then he released a sigh.
Lucien bought two other items, and one of them was a book containing an ice technique.
And the other was a flower of the ice element.
When Simon saw that the last item was something that did not interest him, he reached out to Vexa.
“I’m ready.”
“About time.” Vexa said with a tinge of frustration in her voice.
Simon didn’t respond.
He ended the call and waited for the chaos to begin.
As he waited, he watched the noble demons and servants bid on the last item which was a paper containing the portion of the cultivation technique and the knowledge of a dead demon king.
Simon had never heard of the demon king before, but the auction became loud, rowdy, and chaotic.
No fights were happening, but curses and spit were thrown left, right, and center as many tried to buy the paper.
It was by far the most expensive item that was being sold, and the highest bid was even one million intermediate grade hell stones.
It was a completely absurd price, and Simon made sure to take note of the nobles and merchants who had the ability to cough out such an absurd amount of money.
If he ever had to do business with them or if he needed them for anything money related in the future, he’d make sure to pay them a visit.
Eventually, the auction ended, and the paper was sold for 1.3 million intermediate grade hell stones.
Simon could see the sweat that was pouring on the floor from the body of the demon who won the bid.
Such an amount was completely absurd, and Simon was completely certain that the demon and his sponsor was definitely filled with regret… unless they were absurdly rich.
Though he very much doubted that.
’I can’t believe they went crazy over a portion of a cultivation technique. It’s not even the whole thing and they were cursing each other’s fathers, mothers, grandparents, and ancestors.’
’Sigh.’
After the paper was sold for an absurd amount, the auctioneer had a bright smile on his face because everything exceeded his expectations and he had made so much money.
“Thank you very much for participating in the Winter Moon Auction. It has been-”
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
Seven consecutive explosive sounds shook the auction house, and nearly everybody fell off their seats.
Even the old Frostborn stumbled forward and nearly fell faceflat on the ground.
Dust fell from the ceiling, and chaos descended after the shockwave of the explosions receded.
“WHAT’S GOING ON?!”
“WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!”
“ARE WE UNDER ATTACK?!”
“WHO WOULD DARE ATTACK US?!”
Panic and chaos ensued after the explosions, and Simon could see many demons looking around in fear and shock.
Because these were young demons, weak demons, and slaves who always lived their lives in fear, majority of thier reactions were absolutely pathetic.
Some tried to take cover behind chairs, some looked around like chickens with no direction, and some brought out their weapons but they were trembling in fear.
When Simon saw all of these, he instantly saw the difference between them and the Initiates of the Shadowgrave Clan.
’Our early morning drill is to be woken up by explosions and loud sounds. If these were Initiates of the clan, their reactions would be completely different.’
Simon shook his head, and just as he shook his head, one of the demons screamed.
“HEY OLD MAN! WHAT’S GOING ON?! YOU BETTER PROTECT US OR MY CLAN WOULD HAVE YOUR HEAD!!!”
Simon looked at the demon who spoke with a slightly raised brow, then he looked at the old Frostborn.
He noticed that the shout had brought the old demon back to reality, and he was not surprised when he saw the Frostborn look in the direction of Lucien’s private box with fear and worry in his eyes.
’He’s on the move.’
Simon stood after seeing the old demon move.
His destination?
Lucien’s private box.
’Can’t demons ever be sincere for once? You made a rule that only Fiends and Lesser Demons would be allowed in the auction building, but the auctioneer himself is a Greater Demon and a Frostborn.’
’He’s basically here to ensure Lucien’s safety.’
’How am I supposed to kill a Greater Demon and a Half-Step Greater Demon at that?’
’Can’t my second life be easy for once?’
As he weaved through the demons while having these thoughts, he could not help but shake his head.
A second later, another noble demon shouted.
“OLD MAN! WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU’RE GOING?! WHAT IS GOING ON?!”
“YEAH! SAVE US!”
“ISN’T THE WINTER MOON AUCTION MEANT TO BE SAFE?!”
“IS HOUSE MERCER THIS PATHETIC?!”
The demons who were previously afraid now stood in the path of the old Frostborn, causing the old demon to tremble in fury.
“YOU USELESS FOOLSSSS!!! LEAVE IF YOU’RE SO AFRAID. THE DOOR IS RIGHT THERE!”
Some of the young demons who were previously bold and fearless took several steps back in fear after the old Frostborn’s aura slammed into them.
