The Corruption Dragon God: Lust System - Chapter 657 - Tiger

Chapter 657 – Tiger
The Sect of the Cosmic Void was silent as a shadowy figure emerged from the darkness.
It was clearly a man, with noble features that Qingyi would recognize at a glance.
Guo Longwei. Guo Tianhao’s younger brother and Xue Hua’s fiancé.
With quick steps, he slipped into a small alley and then through the door of a tavern frequented by disciples of the sect.
Today, however, the tavern was empty.
Only a single large, heavy figure occupied one of the tables in the back.
In the first stage of the Cosmic Void Sect’s secret realm, physical strength was the most important factor for survival, since all Qi would be sealed.
Generally speaking, only soul cultivators had a chance, among the many soul fortunes hidden in the secret realm, to awaken their Qi.
The second stage, which would take place months or years after the first, was even more dangerous. Only the ten with the best results in the first stage would participate in it.
“Oh… look who’s here…” The figure leaned forward, its human voice tinged with a hoarse purr.
From the darkness, its form was revealed.
A humanoid tiger with white fur and sharp fangs, a disciple of the Myriad Beasts Sect.
Ironically, he was the only one from his sect who had shown up, but not because the others had no interest.
The reason was simple: most people were afraid of these beasts, and it was rare for a disciple of the Cosmic Void Sect to choose them.
The Sect of the Myriad Beasts, with its arrogance, rarely cared about not being chosen. They simply relished the fear others felt toward them.
But this was a special case.
That tiger was the son of the sect’s current patriarch. A pureblood, the purest in hundreds of thousands of years.
However, there was a problem.
His beastly bloodline was not awakened.
He needed to participate in the second stage to awaken it, and he was confident that whoever chose him would achieve the best results in the secret realm.
But there lay the problem. Everyone was afraid of him. No one would choose him.
“Young Master Guo… I am disappointed to see you like this. You are far weaker than your pathetic brother.” The tiger flashed a savage smile, his claws closing around a metal cup filled with strong liquor.
He drank it all in a single gulp and slammed the cup against the table with a sharp metallic clang that echoed through the empty tavern.
“I know your bloodline isn’t awakened.” Longwei didn’t beat around the bush. He sat down on the opposite side of the table and got straight to the point.
From his robes, he pulled out a red pill that exuded a dark, putrid energy. Demonic energy.
“What do you want me to do with this? I can shove it up your ass and rip out your guts too, if you want.” The tiger growled with anger and contempt, his eyes falling on the pill.
It had been a long time since he’d been disrespected like this.
Longwei cowered, his legs trembling slightly, but he forced himself to be brave.
“I will choose you to be my representative! When we reach the first stage, use this pill and kill Long Qingyi for me!”
The tiger paused.
His eyes closed in contemplation for a long minute. Then he picked up the demonic pill and crushed it between his fingers.
“Very well, Longwei, the pants-shitter! I’ll kill him, but I’ll fight him in an honorable duel, a duel of man against man! Or, well, man against beast, hahahaha!”
His roaring laughter reverberated off the walls, the deep rumble shaking the cups on the table.
Unbeknownst to him, he was one of the types of people Qingyi respected most. And he wanted to find out if this Long Qingyi would also be worthy of that respect.
***************************
With no sun or moon, the Cosmic Void Sect followed a day-and-night routine based on its own clock, with artificial lighting controlled to emulate the natural cycle of things.
It wasn’t perfect, and for great cultivators, it wasn’t even necessary. Still, comfort was important.
As day broke, preparations began.
Servants cleaned the arena. Powerful elders carefully examined each formation to ensure everything was in order. Guards surrounded the entire area, strictly controlling who entered and left.
Qingyi walked through this scene with Rou’er clinging to his side, as always.
“We’ll have to part ways now, since I’ll just be a spectator. You have to take them down, big brother Qingyi! If they’re jerks, blow their balls off, and if they have wives, steal them from them too!” Rou’er declared, puffing out her chest with pride for the man she would make her husband.
If Ma Zhenwu heard that, his heart would bleed.
His idea had been, precisely, to unite Qingyi with Rou’er so that he wouldn’t have room to go after other women.
But in reality, it was Rou’er who was going after other women for him.
“Well… I don’t think it’ll be very possible to steal anyone’s wife during the competition, hahaha.” Qingyi laughed, stroking her pink hair. “I know big brother Qingyi can do it!” She flashed a bright, confident, and adorable smile that simply melted his heart.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t stay together for long. Soon, Rou’er followed the elder to a VIP box alongside other important guests who would be watching the competition.
In that box were the sect leader, Madame Lao, Longwei, and, of
course, Xue Hua, who sat comfortably beside Rou’er.
Qingyi, as a participant, went to a less ostentatious area at the lower
level of the arena. On that place, there were private rooms for
recovery, meals, and, of course, healers standing by.
In total, there would be two hundred and fifty-six participants. Even considering that each fight would last no more than two minutes, it would still be a long competition from which only one hundred would
be chosen.
There was no reward for first place other than, of course, the best chance of being chosen as a disciple of the Cosmic Void Sect. Qingyi had already been chosen by Rou’er and didn’t even need to participate. But it was better to just compete and avoid trouble with elders complaining about disrespect for the sect’s traditions. Walking through that area, he felt many curious eyes on him.
His gaze lifted to the the luxurious box above the arena’s stands, large
enough to hold 100,000 spectators and already nearly full, meeting Rou’er’s excited eyes and Xue Hua’s deep stare.
Not far from them, Longwei wore a look full of delight.
“This is going to be interesting” Qingyi smiled.
