The dragon's harem - Chapter 1528 1528: Eris Vs Betty I

Kory carried Ryan back to the stairs to get healed, but this time, it won’t be Eris who does the healing. Arad would take care of that in seconds using Kali’s divine magic, because the coming fight was between two half-dragons with enough power to rattle the world.
Small enough to fit in a bag, the master of bad jokes and one of the very few people who can move so fast that the world stops being real, Betty was already in the middle of the arena before anyone could even realise she started moving.
Her opponent jumped from the stairs and landed beside her. Eris’s radiant purple eyes flashed with plasma as she looked at the tiny Betty with a grin. “So it’s the two of us now.”
Betty smiled and ran in her place at a normal pace, “We’re both half-dragons…” She then paused, “To be clear, you’re more of a dragon than I am. I’m but a tiny lizard.”
Eris shrugged, “Does that matter? You’re too fast; no one can fight you. How is anyone supposed to catch light?” She then smiled, “No, I know of many things that I can use to catch you.”
She reached into her pocket and pulled a piece of hard candy, “Look, your favorite.”
“Look at what?” Betty exclaimed, with something bulging out the side of her cheek. She had already grabbed the piece of candy before Eris could even notice.
She then crushed the candy between her teeth and swallowed it, “I like sweets, but I’m a fast rat, you can’t catch me with a mouse trap.” She giggled and then was suddenly standing in the same place, but with a whole wooden cabinet by her side.
Eris froze in place. “How did you get that?” This was Eris’s personal cabinet that she had in her room in Alina’s castle.
“Of course, I went and grabbed it. You have a lot of se…” But before Betty could keep going, Eris blew the whole place with a single purple sun. “Don’t just go bring my stuff here!”
She growled and then sighed, “Damn it! Now I blew everything up!”
Betty was already standing behind Eris, “Don’t worry, I took that cabinet back to Alina.”
Betty wasn’t joking; she had run all the way to Alina and came back in that finite moment. She was just that fast, and not even Tiamat’s divine barrier storm around the Star Mountain could catch her.
When Betty moves at the speed of light, the whole world around her seems to come to a halt. Everything freezes and is awfully slow, even light itself fails to catch up, making everything around her into a messy blue as she runs alone through the fabric of space.
To move at the speed of light, she must become made of light herself, flashing across the world as a ray of radiance. Maintaining that state was extremely straining because she wasn’t a true light dragon, which forced her to stop every now and then to cool down.
Betty might only be able to move at the speed of light continuously for just shy of a single second, but at that kind of speed, that was more than enough to make several laps around the world with ease.
In this fight, in every fight, Betty would seem awfully overpowered, which was the reality. Even Arad would struggle to catch her without using any lengthy and complicated tricks to bait her. She might not have the raw power to defeat him, but she is impossible to catch and defeat.
This fight was going to be the same. Eris had no way of matching Betty’s sheer speed, but there was a catch: no one could tell if Betty could harm Eris or not.
The fight started, and the first thing that happened was a ray of light that blasted Eris, hitting her with enough heat to evaporate steel. That was Betty’s light magic, a concentrated laser so powerful that it would kill anything.
While everyone expected Eris to fall to the ground charred like how Ryan ended after her fight with Kory, the result was quite shocking.
Eris stood there, wearing a robe of pure and boiling purple plasma as all of her clothes had evaporated. She looked fine, but Betty seemed taken aback.
“You’re in one piece?”
Eris smiled, lifted her hands up as plasma dripped from her fingers, “If all you can do is warm me up with that light of yours. Then you won’t ever defeat me.”
Eris disappeared, lunging forward with all of her power to Attack Betty. But in that one moment, Betty was already far too bored, having waited for Eris to get closer for ages. She burst running, moving past the frozen Eris and slashing her several times with blades of light, making sure to avoid vital organs and deal as much damage as possible.
Eris flew in a straight line and crashed into the walls, melting them in an instant. She growled and stood, glaring back at Betty, who was busy counting the ants rebuilding their house at the opposite side of the arena.
Before Eris could stand, Betty was already standing beside her with a smile, “You’ve been staring at me for a while. Did you want anything?”
It was literally impossible to catch Betty or keep up with her. But even with that, Eris wasn’t about to give up; in fact, her plan was going fine and without any problems to the point she was worried that Betty might be playing along.
Eris had many abilities that she could use to attack, but almost all of them were useless now, too slow to catch Betty. The only thing that Eris had and could possibly ensnare Betty was plasma. It was nowhere as fast as light, but could very well explode and expand at enough of a speed to catch her off-guard.
The second weakness that Eris was intending to use was something inherent to the speed of light itself. While Betty can move at that speed, in reality, things were far more complicated than the short halfling would like to admit.
Eris had once talked with Luminous, and she learned that while Betty can move at the speed of light, achieving that speed is impossible for anything that isn’t a light dragon that has surpassed their twilight. The only thing that can move at the speed of light is light itself.
Luminous was quite proud and thrilled to explain how light speed worked, not knowing that one day, Eris would use that knowledge to beat her granddaughter with.
When anything or anyone approaches the speed of light, their weight increases exponentially, and their time slows down to almost a halt. The closer you get to the speed of light, the more energy you’ll need, and it’ll be impossible to reach the speed of light without infinite energy.
To break that and make the speed of light possible, all light dragons transform into light right when they approach the speed of light, which turns them weightless and allows them to accelerate to that speed without needing infinite energy.
That means two things: Betty is doing the same, turning into light to reach that speed, which also means she can only attack with light when moving at light speed.
Luminous was also proud to tell her that she is the only dragon in existence that could move at the speed of light with her massive draconic body without turning into light. All of her attacks at the speed of light are flying as fast as light, solid, and carry an infinite weight behind them, generating limitless kinetic energy.
The idea was a bit complicated, but what Eris understood was that the faster someone moves, the heavier they’ll feel and the harder it’ll be to go faster.
So her plan was simple, since Betty can only attack with light when moving at the speed of light because of those rules, then Eris doesn’t have anything to fear.
All she needed to do was act like a fool and pretend to be hurt, allow the excenteric halfling to heat her up with light, and make her plasma even hotter.
As the fight went on, Eris kept trying to attack Betty and got her ass handed to her for almost ten minutes straight, which was thousands of blinding attacks from Betty.
It was then that Eris’s plasma reached a critical point and folded on itself.
