The dragon's harem - Chapter 1633: What is Yog’s Plan?

Chapter 1633: What is Yog’s Plan?
Yog was standing on the table in front of Gojo and Arad, her back turned toward them as she talked with Death. The two were looking at her, seeing the bone scythe wrapped around her neck, the endless green eyes engulfing the wall, and the awful amount of power rushing around them.
It was sickening, for two humans like Arad and Gojo now, just standing too close to those was enough to snuff their souls out and kill them. The only reason they weren’t falling was probably because Death herself was there, so she wasn’t harvesting their souls.
Any normal human would’ve gone mad ages ago, just looking at Death should’ve done it. But, Gojo had more important things to think about besides dying. Did this half-elf half-halfling, red-haired, crazy goddess of magic and forbidden knowledge just say she was turning him into an Overgod?
Something boiled inside his head, slowly rushing down from his head to his back and arms. It’s been ages since he felt like this. And for that one moment, it felt as if several shackles shattered on the veil in front of his eyes.
Gojo only tolerated Yog’s bullshit because she was the goddess of magic, and he loved magic and spells so much that he was willing to endure an eccentric, bizarre, and outlandish. At some point, he even started to think that Lucy could be more mature and reasonable than Yog, which was something.
But now, she had gone off the edge. He never wanted to be a god; such power would definitely hold him back with more responsibility than he ever wanted. Even being the Overgod power was bad, since if it were good, the current Overgod wouldn’t be stepping down.
Before thinking, Gojo reached forward and grabbed Yog from the back of her neck and pulled her toward him over Death’s scythe. “You little thing! What are you talking about?”
At the same time, Arad moved and grabbed Death’s scythe by its shaft, putting so much power into grabbing that the bone groaned. He glared right at Death.
“Don’t move. It’s between them, we should just watch.” Arad growled, and his eyes flashed purple.
He was nowhere near Death in power at this moment. She could just blink, and the sheer force of her eyelashes would blast him into minced meat. But for some reason, she could feel an invisible power glaring back at her from behind his eyes.
She looked back at his eyes for a second, thinking about what would happen if she killed him now. Even without any of his power, Arad was indeed the Overgod AO. Just his words forced the universe to move, and at that moment, even her death powers were quivering.
What would happen if she killed Arad right now? Would he reincarnate again at a later date, or would all of his power be forced to return? Death could imagine herself cutting Arad down with her scythe, only for this entire world to blow up, and her finding a massive hole in her chest a second later.
The wise decision was to never harm AO, because that could never end well.
Arad and Death started a staring contest. Arad was known for glaring at people a lot, and Death was so emotionless that she could keep a poker face and look at someone with a deadpan expression for eons.
In the meantime, Gojo was going to have a lot of trouble trying to get anything out of Yog.
He had never considered becoming a god, let alone taking on the responsibility of ruling said gods. For normal people, the gods were unreachable, but he was one of the lucky few who watched the birth of a new divine. In his case, he watched over Lucy as she became a god.
“As I said. You’re the Overgod. I already made it happen. You might not have the full power or authority yet, but you will soon.” She struggled for a bit like a little cat, trying to escape his grasp, but then just stopped.
“I’ll teach you a lot about magic, and then get you on the throne so we can fight the abominations. You love magic, right?” Now she was trying to bribe him to calm down. She even pulled a scroll and dangled it in front of him like a key chain. “Look, this ancient magic allows you to copy spells, and this one makes it possible to shift time for a specific volume of space.”
Death looked at Yog for a second, then sighed. She hid her scythe away so Arad would stop glaring at her, and then took a short breath. At this rate, she won’t be able to handle the situation alone, so she’d better call for help.
“Gracie.”
As that name escaped Death’s lips, the entire room shifted. Arad, Gojo, and even Yog, all of them froze for a second, feeling a strange shiver run down their spines.
Yog’s eyes that covered the room disappeared, and everything returned to normal for a second, but in the next, all of the gems on the shelves flashed.
Their light cast shadows, and those shadows formed into a humanoid figure. Arad and Gojo saw it as their mother, Violet, and Yog saw an image of herself projected from the darkness.
Gracie, the mother of all life, looked exactly like Death, wearing the same outfit and down to the exact hairstyle. But instead of an oppressive feeling of doom, Arad and Gojo couldn’t help but feel a flowing motherly love engulfing them.
Unlike Death, who ended lives, this one started them. Arad thought he would never see her until he took Mira to the shadow kingdom of succubus.
Gracie glared at them for a second, and in the next moment, Arad and Gojo found themselves sitting down, locked in baby chairs as kids. Yog was above them, entangled in a mess of purple, slimy tentacles.
“Are you hearing what this jester is babbling?” Death approached Gracie, and she got a nod.
“I did. We need to talk.”
Gracie lifted her hand and the tentacles moved, pulling Yog closer to her. “I knew you for long enough.” Gracie pulled Yog’s face close enough that their noses touched. “So I know you always had a plan. Can you explain, or do I need to figure something out?”
“Believe me, out of all people, you’d like this more than anyone else.” For a split second, the tentacles seemed to move under Yog’s command, and she leaned forward. Whispering something into Gracie’s ear.
Whatever she said seemed to get Gracie’s attention enough to make her release Yog.
“Excuse us for a few minutes. We’ll be back.”
Death and Gracie left with Yog, climbing to the upper floor. After just a few minutes, they returned and Gracie immediately turned Arad and Gojo back into adults.
“We’ll go with both plans. Yog would make Gojo the Overgod and I’ll still have them hunt abominations for me.” Death said with a passive face.
Gracie ,on the other hand, approached Gojo. “I have two things to say to you. First, your second ball isn’t with me. And Yog wants to make you a temporary Overgod to catch Nyar off guard and buy time for the current Overgod to recover and rest. Also, my second statement is half a lie, so do with that what you will; it won’t change the future.”
Silence for a few seconds, but then Gojo growled at them. “Hoi! How did she change your minds so quickly? I thought you fools were all married to the current Overgod. Are you throwing him away just like this?”
He grabbed Gracie by the hair. “If you’re doing that, then fuck off! I don’t want any power or magic from you.” Sadly, with the body and power of a human, her hair was as sharp as knives to him, and his hand ended up getting sliced apart.
Gracie stared at him for a second and smiled. “No. We just need a temporary placeholder so he can recover. We’ve been in a standstill against the abominations for a long while now. We need someone to break the balance, and that has to be the Overgod joining the frontlines.”
With a single stare, Gojo’s hand healed. “If we lose the war, we lose everything. That’s why you’re going up.”
Death looked at him. “I know it feels sudden, but it wasn’t. Yog had been preparing for it for ages. You’ll get unrivaled power and authority with nothing to lose in return.”
Gojo had already been riled up to the point he didn’t even care that it was Death or the mother of all life talking. He glared at them and growled. “You two, shut up for now. Yog, what’s the catch? I know how much you love plotting things. I even dare say you’re far more dangerous than Nyar himself.”
Yog blushed with a smug smile. “Well, thanks for the compliment. Of course, to kill a monster like Nyar, you need an even worse monster to plan against him.”
“Well, you’ll be right to think that. I love having my little sticky fingers on everything. I’m the bearer of forbidden knowledge and AO’s omniscience. Of course, everything I do has been planned for thousands of years.” She jumped on the table, approached him, and patted him on the head.
“I want us to win the war, for AO to return so I can give him back his damnable omniscience and live my life comfortably ever after. To achieve my goal, anything is on the table. For making you the Overgod, you’re also right, there is one big, fat, humongous catch in the fine print.”
She licked her lips. “And that is forbidden knowledge for you. Because in due time, you’ll pay the cost and achieve my catch of your own will. I’m just giving you the tools you need to do what you want.”
