The dragon's harem - Chapter 1708: Rogue Demigoddess

Chapter 1708: Rogue Demigoddess
Mira gave Eris one last glance and disappeared from the workshop. “Catch her!” Of course, Eris didn’t waste a second and went right after her.
As Eris flew out of the workshop in panic, she could catch a glimpse of Mira jumping into one of the castle’s windows. Mira was never a fighter, and whenever she had to fight, she only stood still and swung her massive sledgehammer. So seeing her move with such grace was both surprising and horrifying.
It finally became clear that she is no longer human; she now lives on the edge between mortality and what’s beyond, a divine realm. It was a similar feeling to when Eris stepped into divinity and almost destroyed the world. But in her case, she was stepping into divinity. Eris was never a mortal humanoid; she lacked all qualities of a mortal needed ages before ever meeting Arad. She was a murderous cultist, a vampire, and a killer who cremated her own victims of fun.
So, Eris stepping into the divine realm was just a monster becoming even more monstrous.
Mira, instead, was now leaving her humanity behind. She had always been a gentle, hardworking, and loving soul, and so seeing her moving at such speed and with murderous intent, Eris knew better than anyone. Her sister-in-marriage is no longer there.
“Don’t worry, she hasn’t lost yet. But, this means the fight is going in Greed’s favor.” Amaterasu flew beside Eris on her white cloud, “You would be able to tell when the Portfolio wins.”
Pointing forward, she smiled. “You’d better catch her and make sure to keep her safe until the fight inside her soul ends.”
As Eris moved forward, Amaterasu flew in another direction, leaving Lucy alone, struggling to keep up with the two.
Eris took one leap and reached the window. Her red eyes flashed and rapidly scanned the entire hallway, looking at every corner and crevice of the hallway. She couldn’t see Mira anywhere, but she could find a track of divine magic.
Air, smell, blood, magic, and even hormones, she could feel and sense everything. Trying to escape a vampire was stupid, and trying to escape a vampire lord was a fool’s errand.
Trying to escape Eris, though, that was just ridiculous.
“She went to Aella’s quarter!” Eris shouted and bolted away, leaving Lucy far behind. She had to catch Mira quickly before she could kill someone. In fact, as the goddess of Murder, she could understand well what Greed wanted to do.
Greed wants to make Mira kill someone to break her mind. The battle between them is a mental one, so anything that could rattle her to that degree would be an advantage.
Of course, even if Mira was a demigoddess, her power was nowhere near any of Arad’s other wives, so she probably couldn’t kill anyone with ease if the scales were equal. But she is pregnant, so hitting her is a huge no-go.
They can’t fight her back, and that was the problem.
How could they restrain a rampaging demigoddess without harming her? That might be near impossible, and only if Arad were here to help.
In her room, Aella was asleep on her massive bed with Lexi on her side. Aella only had the maid Lexy acting as a mistress, and even Zephyr was away, so this was a problem. Inside Aella’s room, she alone was the one who could defend herself against a demigoddess, which was a huge problem.
Mira shattered the door with a powerful headbutt, running right through it with ease like a raging bull, and swung her fist down at the sleeping Aella. The maids standing at the walls were too slow to react, and with Mira’s speed, Aella won’t reach in time.
But then, when Mira’s fist was about to crush Aella’s head, it hit something else. A thin, transparent shell surrounded the two. Aella and Lexi both slept huddled together, engulfed in a barrier spell.
Lexi wasn’t just Aella’s maid, she was her mistress now, and she saw how she fights. Lexi never hoped to be of help to Aella in a fight, she was far too weak, so even though her job stated she is her guard, Lexi’s entire worth was just moral support.
She had to get creative and find ways to help, and keeping herself and Aella locked inside a barrier spell at night to protect against a potential ambush was the only thing she could do. Granted, no sane person could ever attack Aella in the castle, and when outside, Aella always has more protection that makes Lexi’s spell worthless. So protecting Aella in the castle was just washing the already clean dishes, but Lexi couldn’t sit still without doing anything.
But today, her barrier came in clutch.
Mira’s divine fist was powerful enough to shatter the barrier, but the spell deflected the punch sideways far enough and bought enough time for the two to wake up.
Lexi, by instinct, fired a shockwave blast right at Mira and almost managed to wound her. At that moment, Lexi still didn’t fully wake up, and she didn’t even know that it was Mira attacking them, but if she knew anything, it was that she must kill anything that dares attack her lady when she is asleep.
Aella, at the same time, grabbed Lexi by her nightgown and rolled away, quickly protecting the maids with a barrier of wind magic.
“What is going on?” Aella cried, her eyes landed on Mira, and she quickly understood that something was off. Mira never had such a potent divine presence.
“If she is attacking us, then she isn’t Mira!” Lexi pointed a finger at Mira. “Die! Doppelganger!” A massive light bolt formed on her finger, and a blinding flash illuminated the room.
When it faded, Lexi was on the bed, held down by a half-charred Eris. “Don’t shoot her! She is Mira.” Eris growled at her. “Of course, unless you want Arad to rip your head off.”
As they stood, Mira stared at them with a grin and then started moving once more, turning into a blur. That Eris was keeping an eye on her, she could realize just how fast she was.
She wasn’t as fast as most of Arad’s wives, but she moved far faster than any mortal should be allowed to. Her half-divine body was far stronger, faster, and more durable than any human could be. To the regular maids, it looked like Mira was teleporting all around the room, cracking the walls each time she moved places. To Eris, Mira was jumping from one wall to another, aiming to strike from their blind spot.
“Surprisingly, you’re measured and not greedy at all with your attacks.” Eris turned around and threw her hand, trying to catch Mira before she could reach them. But in the next moment, Mira jumped over Eris’s arm and burst through the stone wall, crossing into Cerilla’s quarter.
There, Dalla lay in ambush. They’ve heard Eris’s warning, and by this moment, the entire castle was at full alert. Dalla didn’t waste a second and aimed to tackle Mira and pin her down. She only needed to capture her for a second to allow Eris to catch up, but she had to be careful.
With Mira being pregnant, immense pain could cause her to miscarry, so Dalla’s slaps were out of the question. She jumped in, wrapped her arms around Mira’s torso, and tried to grab her.
But Mira wasn’t so easy to catch. She turned, grabbed Dalla by the arms, and broke them with a painful twist.
Dalla fell to her knees screaming, and Mira kicked her in the face, flying right at Cerilla. But, unlike Aella, Cerilla never lived alone. She had Dalla, yes, but what’s more, all of her eleven maids were trained knights, far stronger, faster, and more resilient than any human could hope to be.
As Mira flew at Cerilla’s bed, the twenty maids standing beside the walls pulled swords from their hips and flew at her. Unlike everyone else, those maids were trained for one thing only. Their will, their lives, thoughts, and the will of everyone else matters not. Their sole life goal is to serve and protect Cerilla.
As their queen, they won’t let Mira touch a single hair of hers, even if it means bringing Arad’s wrath upon them.
With that, twenty sharp blades flew at Mira, aiming at her limbs. Steel clanged, and shards of steel flew everywhere. The maid’s blades shattered, and Mira remained unscathed as she threw her hand forward, reaching for Cerilla’s neck.
But to Mira’s surprise, Cerilla ate that punch head-on and wrapped her arms around her. “Oh! My, you want to hang out at night. I don’t mind a bit of… rough play!” She twisted her arms and dropped Mira on the bed, pinning her down in a choke-hold.
Cerilla was currently the demigoddess of the elves. Of course, she was nowhere near as physically developed as Mira. She only recently got that power, but here, she could help.
“Really?” Mira growled, glaring at Cerilla. “What? Kind of play are we talking about?” She tried to free herself but failed. “I’m bad at both pillow fights and hide and seek.”
“Let’s say…” Cerilla smiled as she saw Eris and the others jump in to heal Dalla. “How about you kiss my feet and I’ll watch. What had happened to you, Mira! Wake up.”
Mira smiled. “Oh, really?” She twisted her torso down and reached toward Cerilla’s foot, licking her toes. “And the price is, your life.”
At that moment, Cerilla’s arms relaxed, and she looked surprised. Not for long, though, because in the next moment, Mira’s fist came crashing down on her face, sending her rolling in blood. “One down.” Mira jumped in to finish Cerilla off, but had to retreat when Eris was upon her.
Greed’s first power, Forced Pay.
“You’re all too noisy.” A voice growled from the couch, and there, a naked angel rolled from beneath her blanket. Mathilde’s eyes fixed on Mira, and she smiled. “Oh, Mira… what brought you here for.”
