The dragon's harem - Chapter 1710: A Man’s War

Chapter 1710: A Man’s War
“How long do you think I spent giving divine magic, sunlight, and warmth to every living and dead world in this universe?” Amaterasu floated away, waving a hand at Greed.
“I’ve got too much power and divine magic, and I’m never stingy with it. Your greed simply can’t outweigh that.” She threw one last glance at Greed. “You never fought another god seriously, so you probably don’t know this, but when two gods clash, affinity is what decides the winner and not their raw power.”
Amaterasu left, and Greed growled. Now, he was surrounded by everyone, all of the escape routes were blocked, and the one behind him, Linda, was an absolute demon.
Greed could feel Linda’s cold gaze on his back, and he knew she was planning something. Soon, his thoughts were confirmed.
“It’s about time.” Linda pointed a finger, and Greed felt an awful headache. Everyone jumped in and restrained Mira’s body to the ground, and Merlin even came in and sealed her within a small barrier to make sure she doesn’t escape.
Greed, on the other hand, was suffering. Not because of anything Linda did, but because Mira smacked him from the inside. When Amaterasu beheaded Greed, she gave Mira the perfect opportunity to strike back.
“Double the bindings. Another massive wave of magic is about to rush out.” Linda took a step to the side, and a burst of holy magic exploded out of Mira’s body and barely missed her.
“How do you know?” Gamond stared at her with a curious face. “Enhanced elder dragon senses?”
“No, I can send my memories to my past self.” Linda was a shadow time drakaina. Such an ability had many rules and limitations, but with Linda’s age, she had already figured out thousands of loopholes and workarounds to use it with ease, as long as she didn’t shift the balance of fate.
“So you live in the future and send your memories to the past? How far can you go? What’s the strangest thing you saw?” Gamond leaned on her, and Linda looked away.
“No, I don’t live in the future, I live in the present and send my memories back. Humanoids can also do it if you can believe that. It’s called deja vu by the elves. But they can’t control that power.” Linda approached Mira and stared at her for a moment, making sure Greed won’t cause trouble anymore.
“So, you’re talking about that time when you think you saw what was happening before?” Merlin approached. “Is that some kind of time magic?”
Linda nodded. “Yes, and you can say that my entire life is one endless deja vu.” She then smiled. “By the way, the weirdest thing I saw is you giving birth to a demonic rat.”
Merlin froze. “What?” Then, she remembered the rat they met in the abyss who claimed to be her son. “Hold up? How does he look?”
Linda scratched her chin. “I’m not sure, but I know that he didn’t like you that much. Especially since you barely cared for him.” She pointed at herself. “I ended up taking care of him, breastfeeding him, and teaching him time magic.”
“But why a rat?” Merlin scratched her head, quickly trying to remember every monster organ or treatment she had used in the past and grafted into her body. Did she have anything related to demonic rats? No, she might’ve used their blood in potions and oils, but not organs.
Then suddenly, something loud burst in the back, deep, grunt, and metallic, a guitar rumbled from the shadows, and everyone looked back, seeing Mira’s mother emerge from the dark corners of the courtyard. At her side, a short man slowly walked with a distant gaze in his honey colored eyes.
The man, Mira’s father, played his guitar on instinct alone as his mind was still far too wounded to function well. He was a half-dwarf, slightly chubby, and had long, gorgeous, silky smooth brown hair and a beard. His fingers danced on the strings, and his eyes looked at the sky, staring into the starlit sky.
“We were sleeping in our quarter when he suddenly woke up crying.” Mira’s mom looked worried, her eyes shifting toward the restrained Mira. “Mira wasn’t in her room, and he was looking for her.”
As they approached Mira, her father stopped playing his guitar and looked down, crying. He could feel it, something alien inside his daughter. His mind might be broken, but his eyes weren’t blind.
He dropped to the ground, sat, and started playing. One note after the other, something strange started accumulating around him. This man was drafted into a war and watched his entire army get massacred and die. Not to the enemy, but to a rampaging devilish bat.
So driven by rage and the bat’s alluring call, Mira’s father had chased the beast all the way to the depths of hell and slayed it. But on that journey, he wasn’t alone. Those who helped track him down noted that there were traces of divine magic in the trails, traces that belonged to angels.
At this moment, those two angels showed up, but not in the form anyone expected. Two old, shriveled, and nearly dead hags. Weak and frail, they were starved for divine magic for eons by now. They were godless, banished, and forever alone.
Mathilde and Diana immediately recognized them. They didn’t know them by name or face, but they could tell by the divine magic to which god they once belonged, and those two angels were of war.
“Deserters of war?” Diana growled, and the angels didn’t even bother looking at her. They instead fell down and sat, listening to Mira’s father play his guitar.
Their bodies slowly crumbled into ash as the last drop of their divine magic seeped into the old man. He stopped playing.
Arad, who was far away in Limbo, felt something; many massive things left his soul. Even though he had no access to his stomach, he knew that what he lost was titanic.
War, Fighting, and Violence, the three portfolios of Alexander, the former god of war, flew to the last chosen of his angels.
To Mira’s father, this wasn’t a new thing. Those two angels sought a replacement for their god the moment he fell to the abominations, and they had offered the role to Mira’s father decades ago, but he refused divinity.
If he were to become a god, he wouldn’t be able to live with his family in the mortal world anymore, and so, he rejected it. As he went through hell, the two angels followed him, whispering in his ears like devils, trying to tempt him with power, but he always ignored their call.
But now, that family he wanted to protect was in danger, and what’s even more, his daughter is already a demigoddess. So there was less need to avoid divinity.
Inside Mira’s soul, she dodged a powerful kick from Jordan and stood back up to strike, only to find him already upon her, coming in with a burning fist.
It was then that a thick, muscular arm flew in and caught Jordan’s fist, a moment before a guitar axe slammed down, cutting the demigod’s arm.
His voice was deep, rough, and rugged. “Girl, back away.”
