The dragon's harem - Chapter 1910: Divine Misunderstanding

Chapter 1910: Divine Misunderstanding
“So, you’re Neptune?” Eris stood from her chair and walked toward Neptune, who now stood in the middle of her divine hall. “Amaterasu said to keep an eye on you, and even asked to let you get close to Arad.”
Neptune quickly replied. “Believe me, it was also against my own will. But it seems that the best option was this.” She followed Eris with her eyes, “But I’ll try my best, and try to get the best of what fate has stored for me here.”
Zia, who was still standing in the back beside Eris’s throne, looked down with a smile. “From serving the divine goddess of the sun, to the lowly murder crazed Eris. Feels like you’ve been demoted, hard.”
Neptune smiled. “Not really, I was offered to serve that vixen. I could’ve ended up in one of the highest spots in Amaterasu’s ranks.” She looked at Zia with a grin. “It was a choice between her or Lord Arad.”
Eris stared at her, “And, why would you pick Arad above your beloved goddess? Something is fishy here, and I know Amaterasu is fond of pranks.”
“In truth, it came to a simple decision. Would I rather submit myself to a man or a woman, and I sure picked the man.” She looked at Eris with a smile. “Sorry, the man in question seems to be your husband.”
Eris patted her on the shoulder. “Really? You’re saying that to my face?” She smiled, “I love your straightforwardness. Go and set your true body inside his stomach, make it orbit my sun. We’ve got a lot of work to do, so if you perform well and are obedient enough, I’ll let you get close to him.”
“I would love to. But, what kind of work are we talking about?” Neptune looked around. “I believe you’re different than Amaterasu, so I won’t be serving you… right?”
Eris laughed, “I’m not a nymph. I’ll drink your blood later and bind you as my spawn, but otherwise, you will go out and hunt abominations and any target I give you. You’ll be my special-grade assassin.”
Neptune bowed and then left, leaving Eris alone with Zia.
“Zia, why do you think Amaterasu would send her to me?” Eris asked and looked back. Zia thought about it for a long moment, then replied. “She is probably a spy, and since getting in discreetly is nearly impossible…”
“Go to them and make it clear that you want to get close to Arad. Amaterasu knew that it would be hard to refuse.” Eris scratched the back of her head.
“Indeed.” Zia approached her. “When all kings and queens of the mortal world managed to marry their daughters to Arad, it would be unthinkable if an angel sent by Amaterasu herself were to be rejected. I honestly expected her to send one of her archons, not a mere angel.”
“Then it’s better to inform Arad beforehand. Zia, take care of this place. I’ll be back in a few minutes.” She took a step forward and disappeared in a burst of radiant purple plasma, leaving Zia alone in the massive hall.
Back at the private Quarter, Arad had just finished with the cupid sisters, and both of them were on the ground, filled to the brim. When Eris appeared in the room, she saw the sisters twitching on the ground, with several maids trying to get them to stand and clean them up. Arad himself was sitting on the couch with two maids cleaning him, but the maids weren’t using cloth and water to clean his flesh, but were licking it.
She approached, “Arad, we need to talk. Let’s go to my room.” She then looked at the two maids. “Sorry, but you’ll have to finish this later. I won’t take him away for long.”
The maids immediately stood, wiped their lips clean, and bowed. “My Lady, your Majesty, please excuse us.”
As the maids backed away, Arad stood, touched Eris’s shoulder, and the two of them teleported to her room. “What is it?”
Eris didn’t reply; instead looked at the ceiling, “Merlin, I know you’re watching. I’ve been pent up for a while, so I’ll have Arad kill me a few times. Would mind separating this space from the rest of the quarter so no one would hear me scream.”
A second later, the space was separated, and Eris’s room was fully isolated from the outside world. She smiled. “With Merlin’s magic, my divine authority, and your stomach, no one should be able to hear us here.”
“What did happen?” Arad asked, and Eris looked at him. “I believe Aether was right. Amaterasu had just sent an angel called Neptune to serve you, like a wife or a mistress. I believe she is a spy, but I don’t know what exactly she is looking for.”
Arad looked at Eris for a second… in his mind, he was almost certain that Amaterasu had sent Neptune here to check if Aether spilled the beans or not, if she, then she might be here to kill his son.
“You got an idea?” She lifted an eyebrow, and Arad nodded. “But I’m not sure if I should tell you. I believe that the angel is here to kill the one who told me about the reason. So, I believe it is ultimately information control.”
“The matter concerns me, Aether told me about it, and Linda knows as well since I had to explain to someone,” Arad looked at Eris, “Aether himself heard the information from Amaterasu, so that’s why I think the angel is after him.”
Eris sat on a chair, and so did Arad. “So first, we have to keep the angel away from Aether as best as possible, and away from Aster as well.” She then shifted her gaze to Arad, “So, would it be fine if you tell me the whole story?”
“That’s the problem, the more the information spreads, the more likely Amaterasu is going to try to limit it. If she sent an angel to silence Aether, then she might come in person to kill you.” He leaned back, “That’s why I’m hesitant to tell you.”
“She would be a fool to try to kill me. I’m the goddess of murder, and trying to murder me would just make me stronger.” Eris sighed, “She might try other ways. But… tell me anyway. We can’t protect ourselves without knowing the details.”
“Fine…” Arad then went on and explained everything that Aether told him, which made Eris more confused with each word.
“So, you’re telling me you’re an ancient god? Or at least the reincarnation of him? And that you might eventually regain all of his power and knowledge, would place you above even Amaterasu?” She rubbed her eyes. “That ancient being would be AO… The original Overgod.”
“I know it sounds crazy, but that’s what Aether heard from Amaterasu herself, unless she was trying to inject us with wrong information.” Arad shrugged, and Eris smiled. “But, if that was the truth, then the answer to all our problems is simple.”
“What is the solution then? We can’t defeat Amaterasu?”
Eris giggled. “Well, we can’t do it now. But you should be able to in the future. Especially now that you have that Nymph form, which might rival her natural nymph powers.” She stood, approached Arad, and looked at him with a grin. “From now on, me and every god and demigoddess that we have would worship you, and see how fast we can get you back to full power.”
“Would that plan work?” Arad lifted an eyebrow, and Eris shrugged. “We won’t know until we try it.”
