The dragon's harem - Chapter 1917 1917: Bad Security

Knock! Knock! As the daughter of the wizard slept in her bed, the maid standing guard in the room flinched as she heard someone knocking on the window, and when she looked, Alcott was there, staring at them.
“Liana, open up, it’s me.” He waved a hand at the maid, and she sighed. Slowly approaching the window, she threw a glance at the door, and then opened the shutters. “What are you doing here again? If Lord Balbator found out he’ll have you hanged.”
Alcott jumped into the room through the window and stared at her with a grin. The bastard wore nothing but a pair of short pants, and his naked torso was drenched in sweat from climbing this massive tower and dealing with spells and guards.
“Don’t worry, I got hanged before. My neck muscles are strong enough that my neck won’t break, my blood would still flow to my head, and I’ll even be able to tear the rope down.” In the past, a city had sentenced Alcott to death by hanging, and he survived the execution thanks to his powerful body.
He chuckled, “If a mere rope can take me down, I would’ve died a thousand times over by now.” He looked at the still sleeping daughter of the wizard, Lady Miella. Her senses were as dull as those of any regular person. She should’ve woken up already since he loudly knocked on the window and even talked with the maid.
“You really don’t give up, do you?” The maid smiled. “But I have to admit, it’s boring without you coming here. The lady and I have a strict routine, from eating to studying magic to sleeping.” She approached him. “So, want to play a bit with me before she wakes up?”
Alcott smiled, “Why not, but I also have a request today. Even though I believe I would still need to talk to her father about it.”
An hour later, both the maid and Lady Miella were naked and totally drained as they fell back on the bed. Alcott rested by the bed’s side and looked at the door. “I need to use the alchemy lab. I found a witch who’s skilled at alchemy, but the dragon has already driven her out of the forest where her hut is.”
“I can grant you access, but Father would revoke it first thing in the morning. He has more authority on the tower than I do.” Lady Miella looked a bit sad, “Sorry, but I can’t be of much help.”
Alcott smiled, “Don’t worry about it. I’ll make it work.” He stood, “But, after so much fun, I gotta use the bathroom.” He walked toward the room’s door, and the maid blinked. “We have one here.” The Lady’s room did have a private bath and washroom.
“I’m going to use the common one, your father seems to have finished his research by now and is going to use it as well. I’ll talk with him there.” He waved his hand, and walked out still shirtless.
The two looked at each other and sighed.
The Archwizard, Lord Balbator, had just finished working on his spells late after midnight, and was finally locking down his magic lab and heading to wash and get to bed. He was an old man in his late sixties and looked the part of a wizard. Old, with a massive and long white beard and hair.
In his entire life, he was only blessed by a single child, his daughter Miella. He treasured her a lot, but in the past years when she was of marriage age, all of those who approached her were only looking for his tower and wealth, not at her. They knew he didn’t have an heir, and that whoever marries his daughter would inherit all of his wealth and magical treasury.
If he let her out of the tower, and some noble bastard got her pregnant, then they could force a marriage, kill him, inherit all of his assets, and then kick his daughter to the streets. He had seen it happen more than once, and had even managed to spy on the nobles who approached his daughter, and got the same result; they all had the same plan.
That is why he had come up with a plan, he’ll teach his daughter enough magic to be able to inherit all of his assets as a wizard, and then write everything directly on her name, so when she marries, her husband won’t be able to claim them as his own.
In fact, the tower and most of his wealth were already in her name; he even got the king’s seal upon it. Now, he only needed her to finish her studies, which would only take another year or two, and then he would retire and leave everything to her.
But, in the past few days, there was a huge problem, a guy called Alcott had been climbing his tower each night, and banging both his daughter and her maid. It didn’t matter how many guards he put up, or how many spells he used, the bastard always slipped through like a snake.
The young man was called Alcott Demorian, a young adventurer who was powerful and skilled enough to fend off dragons, which was horrifying and impressive at the same time. Such a kid would’ve been a great pick, only if he had settled down. Balbator knows that Alcott would never stay with his daughter, and he was certain that he didn’t see his wealth either; that was just a foolish young man living his life and enjoying it.
As Balbator stood to take a piss, he heard some call from his side. “It’s a cold night, isn’t it?”
“It is indeed.” He replied without thinking, only to notice that it was Alcott taking a piss by his side as well.
“What… are you doing here?!” Balbator cried, and Alcott looked at him with a smile. “Of course, I was with Miella. By the way, your security is ass. Those guards keep going round and around the same route, which makes knocking them out easy.”
“I have spells to keep you out!” Balbator gasped, and Alcott smiled. “And I’ve got this axe that shatters magic. One hit and your spells stop working. I know you can’t keep focusing on them all the time, especially when you’re busy working.”
Balbator’s eyes opened wide as he saw the axe, “What… where did you get that thing?”
Alcott stored the axe back in his magical pouch, “I pulled it out of a dragon’s hoard; those lizards always have a mountain of treasure in their basement.” He then looked at the old wizard, “By the way, can I borrow your alchemy lab?”
“Never!” Balbator growled, and Alcott scratched the back of his head. “Well, fine by me. It only means I’ll stay in the city longer, more fun for me and Miella.”
“You shameless bastard!” As Balbator cried, Alcott laughed. “Then let me use the lab. The sooner I get rid of that dragon, the sooner I’ll be leaving your daughter alone.”
“Is it a deal? I’ll let you use the lab, and you’ll never come here ever again?”
After thinking about it, Alcott agreed. It was a deal.
When Balbator walked out of the washroom, he found out that more than twenty of his guards were either knocked out, drunk to the bones, or outright tied and thrown into a closet. All of his spells were neutralized, and it seemed that Alcott even picked the locks of every door and chest open on his way.
“Are you a rogue?” As Balbator sighed, Alcott shook his head. “No, I’m a fighter. But, without my loud and heavy armor, I can be as silent as a cat.” He took a step into the shadows and disappeared, then appeared behind Balbator. “Speed, silence, and the darkness of the night. I need everything to sneak up on a dragon, so sneaking around humans is far too easy.”
He tapped the old man on the shoulder and then turned to leave. “Listen, your daughter is starting to hate you. If you want her not to throw you out in the future, you’d better come clean. Explain things to her.” He waved his hand and left.
