The First Legendary Beast Master - Chapter 1593 High Stress Situation

Chapter 1593 High Stress Situation
By the time that Hawk had all but one group pulled before he would reach the third boss, nearly everyone was panting with exertion.
The Mana Pylon let them keep activating skills, but that meant a lot more energy was spent, and a lot more movement for the warriors, who were furiously swinging weapons to target their skills.
It was an excellent workout, but now they were ready for the fight with the second boss and needed another moment to breathe.
“Quick snack. These are granola bars designed to recover energy.” Karl announced, borrowing them from the Tiny World’s pantry.
He would apologize to Lotus later for stealing so many snacks from her stockpile, but she was on a baking spree lately, and the pantry was absolutely stuffed.
If he had the chance, he would have to ensure that someone else was trained, specifically to make snacks for their outings.
There were Immortal Grade ones available in the Clan, but it was so much more convenient to just eat whatever was available in the Tiny World. Plus, Lotus knew all the flavours that he liked.
That counted for way more than mere convenience.
The group didn’t stop for long, only enough to get some food in them and get refreshed before facing the next boss.
The Oathbreaker Demon was known to be one of the most agile creatures alive, and keeping it under control was going to be a chore. But worse, every time it dealt damage, that damage spread to the rest of the group.
So, their healers would be working overtime, even with area healing effects.
“Alright, everyone stay in groups to make the healing easier, but not so close that the boss can reach you.
He’s most likely going to go for the easiest to damage of us, no matter how well I try to keep him contained.
With my skills, I take very little damage, even if he does make it through my barriers, so that will limit the splash damage to everyone else. But it’s going to be a workout for our Druids and their healing over time effects.
Shout if it’s not working, and we will find another way.” Karl instructed.
“You speak like you’ve been here before.” Burt noted.
“No, but I’ve faced that particular sort of Demon before.
On the good news side, once the fight is over, we will be able to call them as Epic Golems, and we can spread the joy of area damage through the rest of the dungeon.
It should make the rest of the run faster, and with so many of us here, we won’t be missing the extra durability of tank type Golems.”
Karl led the group into the ruined building that was the boss demon’s domain.
The creature smiled at him, and Karl smiled back.
“Oathbreaker.”
“World Dragon.”
Then the boss was above his back, and Karl spread his wings for balance as he twisted to parry the demon’s claws.
Black sparks flew as [Chaos Vortex] collided with the Unholy Magic skill that the boss was using, and a surge of power slammed into the group.
The damage transfer wasn’t much compared to the health of the group, but it caught everyone by surprise. Karl had parried, so he shouldn’t have taken damage that they could tell.
But what they hadn’t counted on was that damage to the barriers would also transfer directly to the group.
You couldn’t rely on a barrier to protect you against the Oathbreaker, his skill bypassed them. Fortunately for everyone, Karl’s damage reductions applied to both himself and his barriers.
“You think that you’re my match?” Oathbreaker laughed.
Karl gave the Demon a lazy smile as the two of them exchanged blows again.
“I think that even my wife could kick your ass.”
Taunting the Oathbreaker did not work the way that Karl had thought it would.
Instead, the demon only turned to watch Dana, who was pelting him with Magic Missiles. The dragon thought that the mage could be a suitable fight for him?
He laughed and blinked out of existence, then appeared in front of Dana. Purple magic flowed in an arc from her spear blade as Dana parried all four of his claws, and Oathbreaker giggled in a way that was disturbingly reminiscent of Cara finding a new toy.
“Oh yes, this is good.” He cheered as Dana furiously fought to avoid being seriously injured.
She was much faster than Karl, and being smaller, she wasn’t nearly as easy to
hit.
Karl realized that as well, and shifted forms from World Dragon to Cat Demon.
At this size, he could more easily engage the boss.
But it was unnaturally fast, and even after he attacked from the back, it was somehow managing to duel both him and Dana at the same time, while the rest of the group attacked from a distance.
{Trade me spots.} Rae insisted.
Karl backed away to let the spider get the prime spot. A flurry of attacks from all four of Rae’s forward legs flashed at the Demon, and Oathbreaker was
forced to turn away from Dana to fight the spider.
“Oh, this is even better. Who knew that they would send such an interesting group to me this time?” The demon cheered.
[I like this guy.] Rae thought.
With swords in every hand and that much agility, it was no surprise that their most violence loving team member would be a big fan.
For a second, the Lycans were frozen in shock. Their eyes couldn’t even follow the attacks of the spider and the Demon, and the flight was turning into a blur
of bladed limbs.
It was both terrifying and beautiful.
Karl retreated to join the ranged bombardment. The boss wasn’t even trying to defend itself at this point, just letting the skills hit its body as it fought with Rac.
Damage flowed constantly to the rest of the group, but with [Limited Invulnerability], [Stone Form] and [Invulnerable Body] all active on the group, even the attacks that got through weren’t doing any major damage.
On the other hand, if Rae didn’t have [Limited Invulnerability] active, negating the first ten percent of her health in damage, the fight would have lasted about
three seconds before a total party death.
How any other group was expected to deal with that was a mystery.
